The Brexit thread.

By Brexiters, for Brexiters.

Remainers welcome, but gobshites & goadyfuckers are encouraged to take their business elsewhere.

double, that might be your view. I might get frustrated sometime but I do generally try to engage in debate.

ypur last few posts are just moaning at me. How is that any different to what you accuse me of?

any thoughts on NI yet?

Doubletrouble99 · 28/03/2018 13:34

I don't call you names Bear. I am not moaning at you I am pointing out a good example of what you do all the time and what reaction you get by doing it - none.

I'm sure I have mentioned before I think we will get a free trade agreement and be able to continue with the border pretty much as it is using technology to monitor goods and duties to be paid just as we do at the moment with different VAT rates and different currencies.

bearbehind · 28/03/2018 13:40

Ok, so still just the cake and eat it border solution then.

Not much point in debating that.

frumpety · 28/03/2018 14:10

Is that even doable in the next 12 months Double ?

surferjet · 28/03/2018 14:22

bear,
Give up, you’re never going to get the level of debate you’re looking for on here, you know that. So why keep asking the same people the same questions? It’s been going on now for almost 2 years & you’re still not satisfied with anything anyone on here says - so why bother?
If you were genuine about wanting to debate you’d be on The Westminster threads, because that’s where all the intelligent people are, you know, the ones who’s posts are a mile long with 100’s of factual links.
You’re never going to get that on here. & tbh, even if you did it wouldn’t be good enough.
It’s time to give up honestly.

gussyfinknottle · 28/03/2018 14:26

Apparently repeatedly asking questions that people either don't answer or give unsatisfactory answers to is called "sealioning". Last week not answering and getting really cross about being asked stuff was called "being a snowflake ".
This is what we have come to.

bearbehind · 28/03/2018 14:41

You're probably right surfer

I see the Westminster threads as info rather than debate; only 1 side is represented.

You truly saddens me that Leavers are so willing to sell everyone down the river for nothing more than feelings and emotions.

The fact is though, the clearer it becomes that Leaving isn't all it's cracked up to be, the more Leavers are digging their heels in about nothing mattering except being able to say we've left.

DGRossetti · 28/03/2018 14:49

You truly saddens me that Leavers are so willing to sell everyone down the river for nothing more than feelings and emotions.

And then complain when remainers don't rush in to pull them out of the water ...

Doubletrouble99 · 28/03/2018 15:15

So your only retort is Cake and Eat it, Cake and eat it, cake and eat it. Well all you go on about is SM and CU, SM and CU , SM and CU as the one and only solution you can't see past that so no debating with you there either.

'Leavers are willing to sell us down the river for nothing more than feelings and emotions' - who says - Bear says, not leavers, not this one.

'The fact is, the clearer it becomes that leaving isn't all it's cracked up to be ' what fact? where are your facts? Pray give us evidence!

jasjas1973 · 28/03/2018 15:41

The fact is, the clearer it becomes that leaving isn't all it's cracked up to be ' what fact? where are your facts? Pray give us evidence!

huh? Fishermen sold a pup or down the river, EMA and EBA both left london, Unilever, a British founded country with an HQ in London for over a century, moves to Holland, £2 billion spent on recruiting civil servants solely for brexit, pound still super low (against euro) after vote, 40billion exit fee..on going as we want access to various eu bodies, Some in Government and MPs wanting a specif tax for NHS..well i thought the brexit dividend was paying for that no???

but perhaps above all the total amount of time spent by the Government on attempting brexit and division it has caused, both in Parliament and the amongst a significant proportion of the population, esp as the older voter dies off......

bearbehind · 28/03/2018 15:58

double did you get out of bed the wrong side today or do you just feel the need to vent at me? Hmm

No Sm/CU and no border in NI is cake and eat it.

Call it whatever else you want; the fact remains, the mythical technology you mention does not exist yet.

It cannot be in place before we leave.

A robust plan needs to be on the table in time to be ratified in 12 months.

Now is not the time to keep on bleating about the nasty Remainers, it's time to step up and get it sorted.

Doubletrouble99 · 28/03/2018 16:36

jas - we already knew it would cost to leave the EU. Unilever - has had a joint HQ in Holland since 1932. no loss of jobs, none story. £ low is a good thing for loads of industries - increased visitors and increased exports. We don't know yet what will happen to fisheries as for the NHS - what has that got to do with Brexit?

bearbehind · 28/03/2018 16:41

we already knew it would cost to leave the EU

That most certainly was not the the tale told pre-referendum.

That's exactly what I mean about Leavers digging in as the predictions and aspirations for Brexit go downhill.

Why is the cost worth it?

What are those benefits you keep threatening to tell us?

TomRavenscroft · 28/03/2018 16:48

100’s of factual links.
You’re never going to get that on here. & tbh, even if you did it wouldn’t be good enough.

For me personally, '100’s of factual links' on these threads would certainly be good enough.

TomRavenscroft · 28/03/2018 16:49

Actually, just one would be.

jasjas1973 · 28/03/2018 16:49

NHS..... Side of bus? 350m per week? so why a new tax required to fund it?

Unilever? May and Hammond invested considerable time into keeping them here, they were a good ftse company and will be lost to the stock exchange.

Fishing... EU will fix the quotas for the foreseeable future ie next 3 years and we will have no say in that! aside from they will not go down, so much for taking back control.

As for we knew how much it would cost, BS, that was never made clear, even in late 2017 BJ was saying the EU can go whistle for ANY money......

Low £ means higher import costs, even for UK based exporters..raw materials etc. hence the raise in inflation, disproportionately affecting lower income families.
Companies do not base export policy on the variances in exchange rate and in any case, 80% of our economy is in services.

Tourism Ind already complaining they cant get good staff as EU workers have returned back to the mainland.

Both campaigns told a pack of lies, whatever decision you or I made, it was based on false info.

frumpety · 28/03/2018 18:53

What pack of lies did the remain campaign tell ? That is an honest question because I don't remember any ( not saying none were uttered) And remember when answering that the UK is still currently in the EU.

Doubletrouble99 · 28/03/2018 19:16

frumperty - there was a leaflet put through people's doors, scare mongering and load to lies apparently.

twofingerstoEverything · 28/03/2018 19:22

What are those benefits you keep threatening to tell us?
Don't hold your breath, Bear. They're not going to tell us because (a) we can "Google it" or (b) we were mean to them.

gussyfinknottle · 28/03/2018 19:23

Bear, we're sealioning by repeatedly asking this question. It's the new excuse for not answering.

bearbehind · 28/03/2018 19:29

I'm not holding my breath twofingers or gussy, it seems double* is back to ignoring me now on account of the fact I've tried to engage in debate.

twofingerstoEverything · 28/03/2018 19:33

Ah yes, "sealioning" accusations, AKA "I can't back up anything I say, therefore I'm going to accuse you of trolling."
I am desperate to hear something positive about Brexit. Someone, somewhere must have something, surely, that doesn't involve some nebulous concept like 'control' or 'sovereignty'.

gussyfinknottle · 28/03/2018 19:36

I can see/hear it now, " I'm not going to answer that searching question, Martha Carney, you're just sealioning".

bearbehind · 28/03/2018 19:39

You and me both twofingers, especially given it now seems much more prevalent that Leavers are saying they knew all along there would be a price to pay.

It was bad enough when they couldn't come up with any benefits but believed we'd be no worse off.

Now it's generally accepted we'll be worse off but there's still absolutely no indication as to why it's worth it.

frumpety · 28/03/2018 20:14

Double I have just re-read the Governments referendum leaflet ( it is still online) and again I am struggling to see the actual factual lies ?
