Hot Tramp, I love you so!

The European Parliament have agreed to progress talks to the next stage. Despite Brexiteers saying its not legally binding, it is apparent that the EU certainly disagree.

Not only that, but the wording of the deal goes further. It binds us to not being able to agree and new trade deals for 2 years.

The All Important Amendment 7 to the Great Repel Bill has been successful. May’s power grab has a set back.

By just FOUR votes the government was defeated. How May will be regretting that pointless election tonight.

Parliament will have a meaningful vote on the exit terms.

But don’t be too excited. Brussels might not like this as May can not guarantee the UK will agree to a deal. It means the the EU are negotiating with parliament NOT May now.

There is also the suggestion that the mood of parliament is changing and is beginning to lean more towards a EFTA / EEA type deal.

But equally this could also send us to the brink with a deal from the EU that could be rejected by parliament.

The stakes just got higher.

Laura Kuenssberg‏ @bbclaurak
Theresa May's deputy was asked to resign today -'no definitive conclusion on his behaviour to Kate Maltby but inquiry found her account plausible'
Other key bit from report -
'Mr Green’s statements of 4 and 11 November, which suggested that he was not aware that indecent material was found on parliamentary computers in his office, were inaccurate and misleading'
1. Kate Maltby's family have released a statement - 'We are not surprised to find that the inquiry found Mr Green to have been untruthful as a minister, nor to that they found our daughter to be a plausible witness.' - they say she won't make further comment tonight
2. More from Maltbys' - 'We have received many supportive messages from people near and far who appreciate Kate’s courage and importance of speaking out about the abuse of authority. We join with them in admiring her fortitude and serenity throughout the length of investigation'
3. Finally... 'despite the attempted campaign in certain sections of the media to denigrate and intimidate her and other witnesses. We are proud of her
We have ourselves known of these incidents since they first occurred and have fully supported Kate'
Notable that PM called in a second opinion, Sir Alex Allan, after Sue Grey handed over the report on Monday who also concluded that Green had broken the rules

It was a Priti Style Resignation.

Now Gove has said to buy more British cheese I'll make sure not to buy it along with all the other cheese I don't buy

lonelyplanetmum · 20/12/2017 21:58

Ok re Damian Green from the BBC
An official report by the Cabinet Office found that statements he had made about being unaware pornographic material had been found on his computer were "inaccurate and misleading" and as such fell short of the ministerial code.

Right so now let's have resignations from others who have made misleading statements please.

lonelyplanetmum · 20/12/2017 22:00

Liam Fox said securing post-Brexit trade deal would be the “easiest in human history”.
That is misleading so he can go now please.

Holliewantstobehot · 20/12/2017 22:02

Edam and brie (French) for us this Christmas, these are the kids favourites.

Am a bit disappointed. Took ds to wetherspoons (don't judge he has autism and is really limited as to where he will eat). I took a pen in case the brexit propaganda beer mats needed any correction but there weren't any. Perhaps they think Cornwall doesn't need them, what with being a leave county.

Better start prepping for our imminent tsunami I guess.

lonelyplanetmum · 20/12/2017 22:02

I needn't remind those on here but David Davis told the select committee that TM "won't necessarily have read every single one, they are in excruciating detail" of the non existent impact assessments.

That is a misleading statement, can he go too now please.

Butterymuffin · 20/12/2017 22:03

There'd be no one left if all members of the government who'd made misleading statements resigned.

lonelyplanetmum · 20/12/2017 22:07

*ExsistAnt

Not that I want to defend DG but it's a bit unfair that he has to resign over his misleading statements, yet all his colleagues get to continue their roles despite their worse misleading statements.

At the end of the day he misled about an individual thing namely his porn habit. Is misleading about sinking the economy less important?

lalalonglegs · 20/12/2017 22:09

A la Priti Patel resignation, I wonder if the shouty back bench of the Conservative party will insist that a Remainer replaces DG to "maintain balance" in cabinet Hmm.

While I'm glad he's gone, I worry that a voice of moderation in the cabinet - and one that TM was inclined to listen to - has now gone.

Talking of misleading statements - Boris and Nazanin. Theresa and anything she says about brexit.

Frankiestein401 · 20/12/2017 22:13

Also, the Labour Leavers, JAMs and the very poorest who voted Leave in desperation to stop austerity

I have family in the north west of England and their vote was as much to hit out at the south (who are seen as having shafted them for decades) as any kind of desperation.

suspect that whilst all the talk is about protecting the city and nothing about fixing the country there won't be any swing to remain.

Maryz · 20/12/2017 22:14

I don't know how May is still going.

How can she get up every morning and go to a job where (a) she has no chance of success (b) she doesn't even know what she's meant to be doing (c) all her co-workers are either lying to her or undermining her or both and (d) the company she works for is just about to go under, and when it does it'll all be blamed on her.

I think I'd sign myself off sick if I was her.

David Davis clears up the "I'll resign if Damian Green is sacked" misunderstanding.......... "It was not a 'binding' promise - #damiangreen

I'm only coming on to say I agree May needs to go but who should replace her. Maybe there is nobody so that's why she stays.

HashiAsLarry · 20/12/2017 22:33

vivienne clearly doesn't follow politics Hmm

As we well know mother its only binding if it suits the government.

RedToothBrush · 20/12/2017 22:33

Nothing to see here.

Secrecy is essential for transparency. Obviously.

I don't mean May should be sacked (I mean, she should, but they are all just as bad).

I mean how can she do it? I couldn't continue to do such a job, one where I was continually under pressure to do the impossible, where I didn't know what I was talking about, where my coworkers kept essential facts from me but still expected me to represent the company at big international events, where I embarrassed myself on a daily basis by not knowing or understanding the purpose of my job; it must be soul-destroying.

Does she really believe it's going to be all worth it in the end? At best she'll be remembered as the person who led the UK into an economic crisis, at worst she'll be blamed for everything bad that happens to the UK for at least the next 50 years.

HashiAsLarry · 20/12/2017 22:36

Secrecy is essential as we don't want you realising we need to give up a chunk of our sovereignty to save our arses

Viviennemary · 20/12/2017 22:36

Yes I do. Damien Green has just resigned.

Maryz · 20/12/2017 22:36

Yep, secrecy is important.

Otherwise people might find out what's going on, and we can't have that.

Whizziwig · 20/12/2017 22:38

I think May would love to resign but they won't let her. She doesn't look like a woman enjoying her role, although more fool her for taking the poisoned chalice. Since the election, it's obvious how much under Nick Timothy's thumb she was and she doesn't seem to know what to do without him pulling the strings. It wouldn't surprise me if she got to the point where she just did a Cameron and ran away from it all. She's got Phillip's millions to give her a comfortable enough retirement in obscurity.

HashiAsLarry · 20/12/2017 22:40

Nice try Vivienne 😂

Maryz I think it's because the government don't actually do the job people think they do. It's all the Sir Humphries behind the scenes. The problem is they don't believe enough. Not in today's world.
