WELLLLL

Its just before 2.00am.

So far its the YouGov model all the way. Still a long way to go but, the Cons are not getting the top of their target list and Labour are doing very well in seats they just 'shouldn't be'.

Corbyn is now favourite to take the poison chalice of Brexit, but they may not be the largest party yet.

This is looking right now like 1974 not 1983.

May's potted regardless. I look forward to her resignation speech. Its still entirely possible that our next government is a Tory Minority under another leader.

The LDs are having a rough night so far. They are loosing deposits all over the place as they are squeezed out. But they still might hold the balance of power yet. Though they are pledged not to go into coalition.

Another election in the autumn? Brexit delayed and going soft and squishy?

Sleep well red. You deserve it Grin

BiglyBadgers · 09/06/2017 06:47

We will see Eeee. I have quietly enjoyed the labour centerists on the radio trying not to sound too supportive of Corbyn. Hilary Benn was pretty fun.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 09/06/2017 06:48

Loving watching the PLP eating humble pie, and I know we didnt win it but it doesnt feel like we lost either Grin

TheElementsSong · 09/06/2017 06:50

Good night RTB

JustAnotherPoster00 · 09/06/2017 06:52

Could we push it further if we had another election? lol

Ian Paisley Jr has been signing constituents' applications for Irish passports. Brexit in NI will have a huge impact on people's day to day lives and on the economy. The DUP will lost control of local councils if farmers end up bankrupt and if businesses close as a result of red tape, customs delays, closed roads/approved roads as existed before the GFA will eat into profit margins that are already shaky in NI, and NI stands to lose all sorts of farming support from the EU that will not be replaced. Many all Ireland initiatives such as rationalisation of specialist healthcare services have had a huge positive effect (pediatric cardiology in Dublin and cancer care in Derry for example).

If the Tories depend on DUP support to form a government then even a majority in the 1922 Committee might be able to behave itself for the sake of power.

I suspect the DUP has been having a long, hard look at the impact Brexit will have in NI, and also looking at the upswing in support for SF in the recent NI elections as well as this GE, and thinking hard. I suspect there is a diehard element to the DUP and a more moderate wing.

All politics is local, it is said, and never so much as in NI.

I still don't rate JC as a leader and he has been incredibly weak in parliament. Credit where it's due though, that was a good campaign and the Labour Party pitched it just right. I am also really glad that someone has finally mobilised the youth vote.

Let's not forget that they were massively helped by the tories being a complete disaster area though Wink

HashiAsLarry · 09/06/2017 06:53

@robinflavell
Sources say Theresa May will fall on her sword - miss, and fall flat on the floor.

I see you've all been busy in my absence Grin

Anyone know what time Richmond Park is declaring?

So happy Theresa May is having her wings clipped. So fucking happy and relieved. And so proud of this country for waking up to reality. Proud to be British for the first time in almost a year. Feeling very emotional...

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 09/06/2017 06:59

Our very capable anti-Article 50 (whip defying) Labour MP held their seat. Yay!

I am very disappointed to see that Philip Davis being ousted at the start of the thread was FAKE NEWS!

RhythmAndStealth · 09/06/2017 07:00

I see how and why the DUP want a soft border, I also see how and why they would play ball.

I don't see the Conservatives managing to hold up their end of the bargain for long enough to get much effective done.

Bolshybookworm · 09/06/2017 07:00

Yes weak, it's so nice to have some faith restored!

BiglyBadgers · 09/06/2017 07:01

Let's not forget that they were massively helped by the tories being a complete disaster area though

I agree with you on that bolshy. I am still amazed that May managed to turn a sure fire landslide into this utter mess.

Bolshybookworm · 09/06/2017 07:03

I'm glad that the public had a chance to see the calibre of the people taking them into Brexit.

Eeeeeowwwfftz · 09/06/2017 07:06

I just have a nasty feeling that Labour will do its utmost to get a more 'electable' leader in place and when the next election comes along (soon, perhaps?) they revert to their 2010 position.

Next election will be harder, as the Tories at least will have someone competent in charge by then...

RhythmAndStealth · 09/06/2017 07:07

That does seem to be the standard New Labour line Bolshy. Led with how dreadful Theresa was and minimize any impact JC et al may have had.

Nice to see they are taking the same tack as George Osborne there then.

The mealy mouthed comments through gritted teeth have been hilarious. Ungrateful bastards.

Watch Farage ride back into town on the back of that one.

RhythmAndStealth · 09/06/2017 07:08

I've got that nasty feeling too Eeee.

WeakAndUnstable · 09/06/2017 07:08

Fuck. Olney lost by 45 votes.

Eeeeeowwwfftz · 09/06/2017 07:09

The one positive is that with UKIP on 1% of the vote they will now no longer be granted a residency in the Question Time studio.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 09/06/2017 07:10

Urgh Goldsmith got it with a 45 vote majority

Eeeeeowwwfftz · 09/06/2017 07:11

Guess what. YouGov had Richmond Park as a Tossup. They are definitely the winners of the night. Everyone was deriding their poll and model.

HashiAsLarry · 09/06/2017 07:12

Fuck. Goldsmith.
Well some of my small victories didn't come off. Glad there was a far bigger one!

BiglyBadgers · 09/06/2017 07:13

I just have a nasty feeling that Labour will do its utmost to get a more 'electable' leader in place and when the next election comes along (soon, perhaps?) they revert to their 2010 position.

I am more hopeful that the PLP are now aware that they will be slaughtered by the membership if they try and ignore this result and act like Corbyn's more leftist stance had nothing to do with it. I think any leadership election will now have to have a left candidate on the ballot and the membership will be able to make their choice. Any mucking around now and trying to unseat Corbyn with a coup again would be beyond stupid.

RhythmAndStealth · 09/06/2017 07:14

Some of them are beyond stupid though Bigly.

We just have to go on hoping that Keir Starmer is in fact Jesus.
