oh dear a few hundred liberal elite move out of London. Who knew lefties were so worried about wealthy bankers.

boredofbrexit · 21/03/2017 22:00

Or remainers about nationalists. The adoration of Sturgeon discombobulated me rather.

squishysquirmy · 21/03/2017 22:04

The profits from the one armed bandit in the corner are going to take a kicking if all the wealthy gamblers flee the Arms. It's a significant part of the Pub's income, too.....

GhostofFrankGrimes · 21/03/2017 22:08

Bankers who pay alot of tax. Who needs schools and hospitals. We've got a first aid kit at the Brexit Arms and a copy of UKIP manifesto for the kiddies corner.

SemiPermanent · 21/03/2017 22:11

Isn't there a 'quiet corner' for wet-weekenders?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 21/03/2017 22:11

squishy we can't afford parlour games at the Brexit Arms however we could probably stretch to a piece of chalk so the regulars could play hop scotch outside. You know how they love nostalgia.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 21/03/2017 22:14

Isn't there a 'quiet corner' for wet-weekenders?

It used to be called the no smoking area but since the ban we just get high off the creosote fumes.

Deadsouls · 21/03/2017 22:18

I am genuinely glad for you brexiteers that you are happy with the way it is progressing. Even though I didn't vote the same way. I am resigned to the fact that it is happening. I don't know what I'm trying to say, but there has to be an end to the decisiveness. That islet wearing than the actual event I'm finding. So now it's about finding the best way forward.

Deadsouls · 21/03/2017 22:19

I meant to say, the arguing is more wearing than the actual Brexit

GhostofFrankGrimes · 21/03/2017 22:22

Brexit is divisive by its very nature and the way forward appears to be off a cliff.

Imjustapoorboy · 21/03/2017 22:22

A few liberal elites (actually bankers generally aren't liberal ) a few eu immigrants and their families..a few young graduates..a few scientists. ..a few doctors...a few academics...a few tax payers

They don't matter...oh and welcome back 2 million uk expats...what there's no where to put them?...and they have to go onto benefits? And so many if them need to use the NHS? Oh and so many of them aren't tax payers any more

No matter we've got rid of the riff raf!

squishysquirmy · 21/03/2017 22:24

yy deadsouls, it is (in my opinion) a mistake, but it doesn't have to be a disaster.
A lot will depend on how it is handled, on how competent our politicians and negotiators are, and on maintaining as much goodwill between the UK and the EU as possible.
Fingers crossed everyone!

Deadsouls · 21/03/2017 22:25

That is true and I don't disagree. But personally I'm choosing to approach this issue in a different way. That's not to say I agree with much of what is said, but I accept that this is now what is happening and I speak only for me, but I cannot take the arguing. I'm just putting forward the possibility of a different way of communicating with the 'other' side.

Deadsouls · 21/03/2017 22:28

squishy
We can but hope. I have not changed my mind, in as much as I voted remain and would do so again. But the reality is that this is happening. Nothing is going to change that, so it's now about the best way forward and working together IMO

GhostofFrankGrimes · 21/03/2017 22:31

Deadsouls

we've been trying to communicate with "the other side" but nothing of any substance on what Brexit will look is offered. Just wishful thinking.

squishysquirmy · 21/03/2017 22:33

I know Deadsouls that arguing is not particularly constructive.
I'm only in here because I enjoying stretching metaphors so very much.

SemiPermanent · 21/03/2017 22:34

we've been trying to communicate with "the other side"

Confused When?!

I must have blinked and missed it.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 21/03/2017 22:34

the best way forward and working together IMO

I'm getting sick of phrases like working together. We were told by Brexiters from Farage to the man on the street that Brexit would be brilliant. Brexiters will have to make it work. The government doesn't give a toss about the 48% (or scotland or NI for that matter).

Deadsouls · 21/03/2017 22:34

ghost
Well maybe it is wishful thinking, but that's where I'm at with it all just now. It might change. But it is only my personal viewpoint. And not to take away from anyone else's right to their thoughts or feelings.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 21/03/2017 22:35

I must have blinked and missed it.

You must have.

Deadsouls · 21/03/2017 22:35

Well I don't think it's 'brilliant' by any stretch.

Imjustapoorboy · 21/03/2017 22:36

It always feels like talking to people about religion. There us a belief system ok I get that. But something as serious as brexit requires tangable assurances and plans. Not blind religious fervour.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 21/03/2017 22:37

Well maybe it is wishful thinking, but that's where I'm at with it all just now.

and that's fine. The will of the people are also wishful thinking.

Deadsouls · 21/03/2017 22:37

It's not that I think arguing is not constructive, it's just not constructive for me.
