That's all. Pop over and sit down quietly if you like.

Tomorrow is "Take wine to work" day, I'm reliably informed.

Don't think it'll go down well in the Early Years, though Smile

Bundesliga · 15/03/2017 15:03

Is the march ticketed? I am slightly confused.

woman12345 · 15/03/2017 15:04

woman12345 · 15/03/2017 15:07

Bundesliga seems to be a system now on marches, that you register, not that anyone is checking when you turn up. For the Women's march I got a ticket, but no one is able to check, and they had triple the estimate turn up on the day. Smile It was a beautiful march, by the way.

Peregrina · 15/03/2017 15:09

No, you don't need a ticket for the march, but you can tell the organisers if you are going so that they can gauge numbers.

smashedinductionhob · 15/03/2017 15:10

It's nice to have a space where we don't argue.

just popping out for some quiet peaceful exercise. anyone want to come for a walk? It's sunny.

Kaija, we may look passive, but we're recharging the batteries.... a bit of self-care. We'll be better for it.

SummerLightning · 15/03/2017 15:52

Self-care very important, I'm going out for a bike ride. It's misty or I'd send you all a pic of the view at the top of the hill.

I live on the other side of the world, so I can't make the march. But I did donate some money to their crowdfunder. Definitely worth going if you can. It's good to show we care and it will be good for the soul.

Footle · 15/03/2017 16:00

Sad here too. Likely to affect my near and dear people in various ways. And just the pathetic arbitrariness of the whole unnecessary mess.

Bundesliga · 15/03/2017 16:29

Thanks for the ticket info.

Have just been for a long walk which was lovely in the sunshine.

I am now rushing off a purchase of foreign currency before another downturn of the GBP. Sad

SummerLightning · 15/03/2017 16:41

I think maybe i need a gentle kind unputtdownable book that is nothing to do with politics to read, any recommendations?

Kaija · 15/03/2017 16:48

Smashed, I do understand and feel the same way - apologies if I am coming across as harassing you all. I just think it's really vital that everyone keeps on resisting right now. I am very wary of any hint of defeatism at this stage.

The terrible thing is that perhaps for the first time in our lives we have no functioning opposition in Parliament just when we desperately need one. So now we are the opposition. I wish we weren't and that we could just go back to worrying about our own lives but that's where we are.

Flowers for everyone.

Callmecordelia · 15/03/2017 17:10

I am so terribly anxious and sad. Thank you for a place where I can express that.

smashedinductionhob · 15/03/2017 17:23

Summerlightning.

A couple of classics that are not always recognised as such because written by women?

  • Cold Comfort Farm (with an introduction by the eats shoots and leaves lady that I can only describe as a love letter to the author)
  • I Capture the Castle (some sentences are almost Jane Austen standard and very funny).

Both full of the sense of possibility.

Peregrina · 15/03/2017 17:25

So now we are the opposition. I wish we weren't and that we could just go back to worrying about our own lives but that's where we are.

We are, but don't forget that the genuine will of the people, no doubt aided by economic troubles, brought down communism in E Europe. Treesa Mayhem and her chums will provide us with the economic problems, and we can provide the will of the people. TM is very fond of the will of the people when it suits her.

smashedinductionhob · 15/03/2017 17:26

Friends, I have found our song - bittersweet and knowing this has just begun.

any recommendations
My comfort writers: Maggie O Farell, Deborah Moggach, Anne Enright
and wee Graham Norton did well with his new book. enjoy Flowers

smashedinductionhob · 15/03/2017 17:28

before the fiddlers have fled.......

before they ask us to pay the bill

and while we still have the chance.....

Let's face the music and dance.

Soon we'll be without the moon

Humming a different tune

And then.....

There may be teardrops to shed

But while there's moonlight, and music, and love and romance

Let's face the music, and dance.

Can I come in too? I know I'm late to the party but I've got half a bottle of Campari and I can mix a few negroni... And I've no shortage of tears, they're not going to run out any time soon Sad.

I honestly can't see how the country will get through this. It's just so reckless, nihilistic even. I've spent lots of time in denial but now I'm just worried. I wouldn't mind (so much) if the government were ideologues but competent with it - every sign is that they haven't a chuffing clue. I keep looking round for an adult to arrive and take charge Sad.

smashedinductionhob · 15/03/2017 17:35

Yeah, there's room for you.

We're kind of at the point where we start watching old black and white movies in the dark, hope that's ok.

OP posts:
lalalonglegs · 15/03/2017 17:40

"It's a Wonderful Life"? We'll laugh, we'll cry and, after some dark times, everything will turn out alright in the end?

Footle · 15/03/2017 18:05

Smashedinductionhob, yes both those.

ShowOfHands · 15/03/2017 18:56

My people. You're so quiet, I almost didn't find you.

I don't drink alcohol or caffeine. No sugar or processed food. I miss biscuits today.

I have a very healing Thai green chicken soup and chamomile tea. I've run miles and miles this week. Not sure if I'm running away from this or chasing hope.

Figmentofmyimagination · 15/03/2017 19:01

If you want to take your mind off it, it's the final episode of the apocalyptic radio 4 drama Resistance on sat - about a plague that isn't resistant to antibiotics. I listened on catch up to the first two after hearing it flagged on feedback and I had to stay awake til after midnight (Sunday night eek) to get to the end. Apparently not everyone died in the end.

Figmentofmyimagination · 15/03/2017 19:02

Sorry - I mean 'dies' - the last episode isn't til sat pm.

MyCatLikesToSitInBoxes · 15/03/2017 19:02

Can I join you? I've got a nasty cold picked up from dd so I can only offer Brew at the moment.

Whoever described this as grief is absolutely right. It has the same characteristic that bereavement has; that moment when you wake up in the morning and you have forgotten, and then the awful realisation that the worst did happen.

Brexit has profoundly changed how I feel about Britain - about England in particular. Dh and I are making plans to leave now - more for feeling like this is no longer our place, than for rational economic reasons.

But for now, Sad
