That's all. Pop over and sit down quietly if you like.

but there are a lot of us more than even we realise.Smile
I'll be there too (and this Saturday's anti racism one)

Figmentofmyimagination · 15/03/2017 09:24

I remember Havel - his amazing piece of writing - the Power of the Powerless - 'there is a spectre haunting Europe'. Well there certainly is now. I'll have a look at your link later when I'm not using my 3G!

:)

We will bring him alive for a new generation.

There is hope in quietness. God knows he had cause to know that.

Beautiful thread OP. Flowers strength in quietness too.

TheElementsSong · 15/03/2017 09:42

Some Flowers would be in order, I think.

Trying to wail quietly.

Maybe I should go to the march. They are always so optimistic and like someone said, at least my sons will see that we did what we could.

2 slices of apple cake haven't helped today 😒

TheWoodlander · 15/03/2017 10:36

I'm going to maintain an internal quietness today, a healing quietness. No point arguing on threads with people who believe what they want to believe. Thank you for this thread.

Bananagio · 15/03/2017 11:16

Nooooo - dont give up people and don't feel marching is futile! We may not stop this debacle but we need to show there is resistance otherwise the muppets in charge will start bleating on even more about Will of the People etc and goodness knows how hard the Brexit will end up being. Plus it is part of the Europe wide pro EU matches happening marking the anniversary. I am in Italy and will be going to the Rome one. The EU is under attack from various directions and those of us who think it is a Good Thing need to be visible and loud.

SapphireStrange · 15/03/2017 11:54

Hello all. I've got Cake and Brew.

I'm entertaining thoughts of moving to some rocky outcrop off the south coast of Ireland or somewhere. Not seeing anyone (except DP; I assume he'd come with me anyway...) and just working, walking, reading etc.

Anyone who knows me knows that this is not really in character; I live in London and subscribe to Woody Allen's views on living in a city. I love pretentious cafes and being able to go to see world-class art/plays or any film I feel like. I even love Oxford Street most of the time.

But I fear that when we jump off the cliff, London will become less than it is now; people from within and outwith the EU alike will feel less inclined to come, to live or to visit. It will become less interesting, less populated and diverse and quirky. Only the very rich will be able to afford it.

I'm going to go on the march. But I don't feel optimistic.

squishysquirmy · 15/03/2017 12:00

It's lovely in here. I've brought a nice cup of tea in with me.
Taking a bit of time to feel a bit sad is not the same as giving up entirely, I will probably not be able to go to the march unfortunately, as I live in Northern Scotland and have in-laws visiting that weekend. Fortunately, they are fellow remainers as I don't think I could cope with the Brexiteer branch of my immediate family (much as I love them) shouting at the radio, gloating, and cheering Farage that weekend. (sad)

squishysquirmy · 15/03/2017 12:01
Sad
Bundesliga · 15/03/2017 12:04

Gloom, despair, and agony on me,
Deep dark depression, excessive misery.

Agree - just panicked a bit when read a few posts saying they were feeling there was no point marching.

woman12345 · 15/03/2017 12:35

I feel like marching is not really a choice at the moment. We've had relative freedom, food and votes because of who did the marching for us. And it's usually good for the soul! Smile Plus it's quite a good tourist tour of London and exercise.

smashedinductionhob · 15/03/2017 12:46

Yes, I think taking time to be sad is a way of valuing what is being taken.

It's like a retreat sort of thing.

Anyone who is unsure whether to march, please come. As others have said we need to actively demonstrate what an undemocratic nonsense the phrase "the will of the people" is as applied to Brexit.

We can already see that when MPs rolled over on A50 - despite their stated concerns - it was immediately used as evidence that they wholeheartedly back the government's present course of action.

Silence on our part will similarly be taken to mean endorsement.

woman12345 · 15/03/2017 14:55

And post it all over mn and fb etc? Kaija

Is it too early for Wine?

sonlypuppyfat · 15/03/2017 15:00

The will of the people means more people voted to leave instead of stay, I'm not really sure what's difficult about that
