The fall in wages - predicted?

Are you talking averages or low skilled pay?

Does that strip out the NLW factor?

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 21:22

You call me a liar - for being a mum - and you think it's low that I call you on it?

TuckersBadLuck · 08/11/2016 21:23

democracy looks likely to be subverted

Democracy isn't being subverted! Passing laws through Parliament is an integral part of our democratic system. Democracy would be subverted if the Government were allowed to legislate away our rights without the approval of Parliament.

I would suggest that democracy is also subverted by a referendum result which has been achieved through blatant lies and bullying.

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 21:23

I told you bear. You are haranguing me again. I told you. Five days ago. And you did not answer a single one of my fifteen or so questions.

That's why you go on and on like this isn't it. To avoid answering sound questions yourself.

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 21:24

Blatant lies and bullying - thanks for the handy phrase. Plenty of that round here.

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 21:25

Being a mum is highly relevant to you calling me a liar because I had to answer the door to let my child in the house.

surferjet · 08/11/2016 21:25

The poor voted leave ( minor point worth remembering )
Maybe ask them how they'll cope?
They'll probably tell you to fuck off as it's none of your damn business but it's worth a try?

Bearbehind · 08/11/2016 21:27

ww, I've told you many many times, I was never going to play your game whereby you answered a question with more questions.

If you so strongly believe that the poor needed saving from the effects of immigration, why can't you tell us how you think they'll cope with the huge spike in the cost of living?

vulpeculaveritas · 08/11/2016 21:27

The BOE found that a 10 percentage point increase in immigrants working in an unskilled jobs in an industry led to a 1.8% fall in wages for British nationals in the lowest 10 % of earners. Which is what I imagine people were objecting to.

The question was that if the rate of inflation is going to be higher than this, then is voting out to stop immigration ( which it won't) because the poor will be better off worth it?

vulpeculaveritas · 08/11/2016 21:27

So the poor all voted leave?

I thought the leave vote wasn't homogeneous?

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 21:28

I wasn't playing a game- I was asking questions.

Kaija · 08/11/2016 21:28

That's quite funny Winchester. "For being a mum".

It's a pretty standard (if not ideal) feature of online conversations for people to be accused of ducking out of debates because they're losing the argument. It's not "being attacked for being a mum" Grin

Anyway, gotta go. Dog's eating my router.

surferjet · 08/11/2016 21:30

Yes, a lot of poor people did vote leave, & I'm certain they'd tell you to stick your fake concern for them up your arse.

I wasn't playing a game- I was asking questions.

Sadly you weren't, and aren't answering any.

time4chocolate · 08/11/2016 21:30

Vulpeculaveritas - I think you know you are incorrect on the insult issue, it is vastly one sided and is even commented about on non EU boards.

Kaija · 08/11/2016 21:32

Surfer, the correlation with income was not particularly strong in the vote. Age, education and social attitudes much more so. Many wealthy people voted leave (not to mention the extreme wealth of Leave's backers and campaigners).

Bearbehind · 08/11/2016 21:33

Yes, a lot of poor people did vote leave

Agreed, but they generally did it as a protest vote and, unlike you, they can't afford the cost of the repercussions.

vulpeculaveritas · 08/11/2016 21:34

i don't know time4choc, I've seen some fairly nasty things said on both sides.

Calling people traitors for example isn't nice, or swearing at others.

surferjet · 08/11/2016 21:35

Oh, I thought all leave voters were thick ignorant racists? They were last week?
Now they're all wealthy?

You make it up as you go along.

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 21:35

That's interesting Vulpa but I don't like the way you read all the horrible things remainers say and minimise it. It's masking my interest in your points. I would be pointing to average earnings rises, the NLW and the stabilisation of earnings through the end of freedom of movement, which would be after brexit (although I think remainers believe lots of eu citizens would go home straight away?) many poles for example are already returning because of the fall in the pound, so there will be other compensatory effects. Those poles who are 'returning' were never really here: they were using higher wages here to spend in Poland, and the sterling dip has removed that advantage. This is what I've always objected to with freedom of movement. If you come, come and live with us.

vulpeculaveritas · 08/11/2016 21:36

See there we go, a fine example Time4

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 21:37

'They generally did it as a protest vote'

You know this?

WinchesterWoman · 08/11/2016 21:38

You make it up? That's on a par with liar racist arseholes dicks nut jobs fuckers stupid thick?

vulpeculaveritas · 08/11/2016 21:39

"I would be pointing to average earnings rises."

Which have only happened because of very low inflation, under 1 %, over the last 2 years. Prior to that real wage growth negative as inflation was higher than wage rises.

The NLW has been responsible for a big rise in % increase for the lowest paid, BUT its not going to be repeated next year and has already been accounted for.

The Poles that you speak of are a very small amount of people really, the vast majority of EU migrants are permanent settlers.

Bearbehind · 08/11/2016 21:39

ww, do you think people don't notice that you are avoiding answering a really simple question?
