THE BREXIT FALLOUT CONTINUES - THREAD NINE

The Tories have settled their scores and May is now PM.
Is it May's Day or May Day for the people?

After careful consideration I thought the best way to sum up the Labour Contest was in one simple picture. May Day, might also be appropriate here too.

Things are moving fast, so hold on tight for the Brexit Ride

Sense of humour compulsory. No experience necessary though

GingerIvy · 14/07/2016 16:28

Show Yes, he most certainly is.

TheBathroomSink · 14/07/2016 16:30

I think, listening to Johnson, that merrymouse is correct and he is separating the EU and Europe the continent including the countries which are not part of the EU.

But as it is Johnson, he could be talking Churchillballs.

TheBathroomSink · 14/07/2016 16:31

Guardian says Loathsome at DEFRA has a 'hospital pass':
Whatever British Agricultural Policy (BAP) comes next – and the National Farmers Union is already canvassing views on which this should look like –Leadsom will have the thankless task of lobbying the Treasury to replace those subsidies. They’re essential to prop up farmers, as the CAP payments made up 55% of an average farmers’ income of around £20,000 in 2014.

Boris seems to be repeating what Daniel Hannan and other Brexiters have said for years:
They reject the EU, not Europe.
i.e. want to stay friends and cooperate in many fields, just not as part of the EU
Being Boris, he may have bungled the message slightly, of course, but it's probably what he means.

GingerIvy · 14/07/2016 16:34

I suspected so, too, Choc but the headline will send people into a complete Linda Blair head spin. Grin

Sellotapewillfixit · 14/07/2016 16:37

I know Karen Bradley slightly and I think she is great - sensible and level headed. Think she is wasted on Culture - she would have been better at the Treasury :(

squoosh · 14/07/2016 16:37

I see Tim Farron is doing an MN web chat.

BigChocFrenzy · 14/07/2016 16:38

TM has tried to remove the image of a government run by Old Etonians for Old Etonians
Quite a clearout

Any Cameroonian not booted out yet ?
Position still vacant: Assistant to Larry The Cat
i.e. follow him around and pick up his poo from the gardens

OlennasWimple · 14/07/2016 16:39

There are still lots of junior minister positions to settle...

BigChocFrenzy · 14/07/2016 16:40

And no, Larry couldn't be given a Cabinet post himself: cats HATE work
And all ministers will certainly be working their tails off in a TM government.

DoinItFine · 14/07/2016 16:41

Still not quite over my panic that AL might gave been on ger way to Belfast Shock

Sorry farmers, but your loss is our gain.

Apart from the Fermanagh farmers who voted Leave 😂😂😂

You guys deserve what's coming your way.

The Luton Hotel that cancelled Eagle's event claim it was due to not realising it was a political event and not due to threats:

GingerIvy · 14/07/2016 16:41

Maybe someone can then ask Tim Farron why he is expending so much energy heckling instead of making some positive changes moving forward and actually getting noticed in a good way.

BigChocFrenzy · 14/07/2016 16:43

ginger From that article:
"when you say 'winning' to today's membership they often think it implies some kind of moral compromise."
If it means that to more than a small clique, then Labour will be in the wilderness for a generation

GingerIvy · 14/07/2016 16:44

This whole Labour/JC situation is now reaching a point where it's difficult to keep track of it all now. There were 2 sides... I thought... now there seem to be a bunch of them. Confused

merrymouse · 14/07/2016 16:44

One thing about the lib dems, atleast a quarter of their MPs speak at least one second European language fluently.

Tom 'voice of Britain' Brake was giving France Inter the low down on Brexit yesterday.

UK rate HELD at 0.5%. Right move, Carney was wrong to scaremonger. Rate cut would've signalled panic. Well done MPC for resisting.

Gingerlvy I agree. If the Lib Dems were smart they could attracts lots of disenchanted voters. However, Farron isn't making them sound very appealing at the mkment.

GingerIvy · 14/07/2016 16:51

Tiggy that's what I think, but heaven only knows if that's right. You'd need a bloody spreadsheet at this point to keep it straight!
