Clearly Boris didn't get the memo, on when to quit the power games, even after Gove schooled him in the dark arts of the Tory Leadership....

So the Tory Smackdown rolls on whilst Corbyn STILL clings on. UKIP has now entered the race to make a challenge for who can make the biggest leadership contest shambles.

In The Blue Corner
May strikes fear into the hearts of EU citizens as she counts her bargaining chips.
Gove strikes fear into the hearts of humans, with his Martian twitch.
Loathsom strikes fear in the hearts of Britains by talking about babies brains.
Crabb strikes fear into the hearts of Torys by suggesting a plan that Corbyn might like. (and that beard doesn't help).
And Fox.
Well he just turned up.

Johnson is still waiting in the wings to stab Gove. He'd quite fancy a seat at the cabinet table too.
Osborne has gone quite again and we wait with baited breathe to see if he is the 'Charlie off Casualty' of the Tory Party (y'know whatever happens he somehow survives like a cockroach).

In The Red Corner
Corbyn apologies. So we know he's getting a bit desperate.
Will the Unions figure out something else to do other than sit with their head in hands.
Angela Eagle is still doing jellyfish impressions and hasn't found that backbone.
We STILL don't know who the fuck Owen Smith is?
Will Bliar's chicken's finally come home to roost?
The Cult of Momentum, rumbles on. We aren't quite sure who they actually vote for, but they seem to like their Dear Leader.
When will this country next have an opposition party?

Its kinda getting boring guys, we need some action now. End the Chicken Coup! The Tories are definitely out doing in the high drama stakes.

In the Purple Corner
Farage has gone! Hurrah. We hope only that he stays under that rock.
(Don't count on it. They'll wheel him out when they need publicity)
Will Leadsom be elected leader? Oh sorry, wrong party. I was getting confused for a second there.
Will they throw the cuckoo Carswell out? [:)]
Will they be able to find a less offensive leader than Farage who can unite them in their common goal of errrr..... yeah. That.
How long before one of their candidates has to apologise for something?

And I suppose I should ask, when will a50 be triggered....? And by whom?

All these questions and more.
Sense of humour compulsory. No experience necessary though

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-488667/Why-I-know-weapons-expert-Dr-David-Kelly-murdered-MP-spent-year-investigating-death.html

Its easy to start thinking there is a conspiracy theory in here somewhere isn't it???

(I note its an MP that wrote the above piece for the Daily Mail too)

OP posts:
RedToothBrush · 06/07/2016 21:06

And even if it was a suicide, it says something about the way the media treated Dr David Kelly.

That Mensch link is just marvellous TheBathroomSink. It has brightened my evening to be reminded what a fool she repeatedly makes of herself on twitter.

Showmethewaytogohome · 06/07/2016 21:08

Red As I said I'm not a conspiracy nut but I always had problems with the circumstances around Dr Kellys death and this stands out for me:

^British diplomat David Broucher told the Hutton inquiry that, some months before Dr Kelly's death, he had asked him what would happen if Iraq were invaded.
Rather chillingly, Dr Kelly replied that he "would probably be found dead in the woods"^

derxa · 06/07/2016 21:18

Rather chillingly, Dr Kelly replied that he "would probably be found dead in the woods"^ Of course he was murdered.

Peregrina · 06/07/2016 21:19

I remember seeing Kelly being interviewed at some parliamentary committee and thinking that they were giving him an extremely hard time.

RedToothBrush · 06/07/2016 21:23

I agree show.

Its just this thread is making me feel like I'm a nut job conspiracy theorist in many respects as it is, and the fact that the road leds back to Dr Kelly doesn't help.

It does merit revisiting.

It smells more like Hillsborough than David Icke.

Going back to reds earlier link, Elizabeth Wilmshursts resignation letter was principled then and still reads that way now.
I was always a fan of Mo Mowlam but it was good to have another look at Charles Kennedys speech too.

RedToothBrush · 06/07/2016 21:29

DH says I look like a nut for posting about Kennedy & Cook (and then Kelly) my point was that there are good MPs. Then it fitting to say about Kelly in the context of the good ones being dead.

sigh

It smells more like Hillsborough than David Icke. It's chilling Red
I'm old enough to remember it all.

Peregrina · 06/07/2016 21:33

Yes, it was the Foreign Affairs meeting that Dr Kelly was grilled at. I wonder if there will now be calls for his death to be re-investigated? I hope so.

Showmethewaytogohome · 06/07/2016 21:39

Red you are far from a nut. You are AMAZING and have informed and encouraged discussion throughout these threads - THANK YOU

I am quite shocked at myself about how Brexit is kind of making me join up dots - real ones - due to the pure propaganda that people believed and made them vote a certain way. Even on social media including MN I question that there are 'plants' and I am generally oblivious to most things, actually I am completely oblivious generally!

Thank you Red again

thecatfromjapan · 06/07/2016 21:42

You don't look like a nut, Red. I think it is hugely important to fight the cynicism that can set in. All politicians are not the same. Sadly, cynicism was a tool that was deployed and used against the electorate in this referendum. It's important to remember that there are principled (and very effective) politicians out there.

And the Chilcot report is bound to bring up things we haven't finished with, even after all these years.

OliveBranchCollins · 06/07/2016 22:11

Thank you for these wonderful threads. I have finally caught up and have learnt so much

MrsLupo · 06/07/2016 22:20

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/07/06/defeated-labour-rebels-admit-its-finished-as-jeremy-corbyn-refus/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Not a fan of the Torygraph but no one else much seems to be carrying this yet. It seems the mediation offered by Len McCluskey has fallen apart pretty immediately as there is no common ground for compromise - rebels want Corbyn gone, he won't go.

The PLP are still speaking of Angela Eagle as the plausible front runner. Whatever you think of Jeremy Corbyn, I think this is frankly ridiculous - probably always was, but especially after 10 days of public handwringing.

It still hasn't been established definitively whether he would automatically get a place on the ballot as incumbent.

I wish the PLP would either force a ballot or give up and shut up. It's starting to look like the sort of attention-seeking we associate with Mr Farridge.

TheBathroomSink · 06/07/2016 22:38

I can't think of anyone who has come out of this whole labour fiasco with their credibility intact, including the union leaders, who seem to be just as wishy-washy as the fucking politicians.

DoinItFine · 06/07/2016 22:52

RedFlowers

You do not look like a nut.

Politicians are not all the same, ne er mind MPs

Charles Kennedy and Robin Cook were tremendous moral politicians.

It is do important to remember that.

This is your mark. I'm sure you have many many more.

But this is one. Be proud of it. :)

RedToothBrush · 06/07/2016 22:55

Well not even his own local party by the look of it:

My resolution arguing Corbyn should resign lost by only 36 to 27 at St George's Ward of Islington North tonight

Even his local party can't get rid of him!

(and thank you lot btw)

colouringinagain · 06/07/2016 23:01

Just watched Robin Cooks resignation speech. Very moving.
Cook, Kennedy, Mowlam, other MPs and millions of us were right.
A small number of people in power abused it.
I wish I was sure this won't be repeated. Sad

Muddlingalongalone · 06/07/2016 23:11

Agree about Robin Cook's resignation speech. They played it on r4 when I was driving to work this morning. V moving & amazing how much you forget.
Who are the good ones now & why is it so hard to find them??

MrsLupo · 06/07/2016 23:13

Seems like Jo Cox was probably one of the good ones. Sad

MrsLupo · 06/07/2016 23:14

Caroline Lucas?

colouringinagain · 06/07/2016 23:16

I guess we generally don't hear about them. Def Jo Cox Sad. Any others?

RedToothBrush · 06/07/2016 23:16

Oh more buried news:

www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/jul/06/nhs-to-scrap-single-database-of-patients-medical-details
That really expensive and controversial plan to create a single database of patient details on the NHS.

Binned. Total U-Turn.

Axeing care.data is good news really, though. (I can hardly bear to type care.data - makes me cringe. When did the names for everything get so wanky?)
