Clearly Boris didn't get the memo, on when to quit the power games, even after Gove schooled him in the dark arts of the Tory Leadership....

So the Tory Smackdown rolls on whilst Corbyn STILL clings on. UKIP has now entered the race to make a challenge for who can make the biggest leadership contest shambles.

In The Blue Corner
May strikes fear into the hearts of EU citizens as she counts her bargaining chips.
Gove strikes fear into the hearts of humans, with his Martian twitch.
Loathsom strikes fear in the hearts of Britains by talking about babies brains.
Crabb strikes fear into the hearts of Torys by suggesting a plan that Corbyn might like. (and that beard doesn't help).
And Fox.
Well he just turned up.

Johnson is still waiting in the wings to stab Gove. He'd quite fancy a seat at the cabinet table too.
Osborne has gone quite again and we wait with baited breathe to see if he is the 'Charlie off Casualty' of the Tory Party (y'know whatever happens he somehow survives like a cockroach).

In The Red Corner
Corbyn apologies. So we know he's getting a bit desperate.
Will the Unions figure out something else to do other than sit with their head in hands.
Angela Eagle is still doing jellyfish impressions and hasn't found that backbone.
We STILL don't know who the fuck Owen Smith is?
Will Bliar's chicken's finally come home to roost?
The Cult of Momentum, rumbles on. We aren't quite sure who they actually vote for, but they seem to like their Dear Leader.
When will this country next have an opposition party?

Its kinda getting boring guys, we need some action now. End the Chicken Coup! The Tories are definitely out doing in the high drama stakes.

In the Purple Corner
Farage has gone! Hurrah. We hope only that he stays under that rock.
(Don't count on it. They'll wheel him out when they need publicity)
Will Leadsom be elected leader? Oh sorry, wrong party. I was getting confused for a second there.
Will they throw the cuckoo Carswell out? [:)]
Will they be able to find a less offensive leader than Farage who can unite them in their common goal of errrr..... yeah. That.
How long before one of their candidates has to apologise for something?

And I suppose I should ask, when will a50 be triggered....? And by whom?

All these questions and more.
Sense of humour compulsory. No experience necessary though

Re GingerIvy's 12.20 post. This is why people are so pissed off with politicians. The PM is asked about whether the government will provide funding to areas of the U.K. That receive subsidy from the EU and doesn't answer the question but replies with a 'clever quip' about what's happening to Labour. This isn't an Oxbridge debating society, you twats. This is about real people and real jobs.

GingerIvy · 06/07/2016 13:16

MissHoolies And that demonstrates oh so clearly that Cameron (and the Conservatives) really have NOT learned ONE THING from the referendum.

RedToothBrush · 06/07/2016 13:25

DoIt I'm the first person to admit that stopthewar was hijacked for other agendas. Still it was a protest against public feeling at the time which was ignored.

The consequence of that was a definite undermining of trust in government.

Chilcot's finding that the course of decision making was flawed only serves to underpin that.

I think that has implications for ANY direction we go in now - it will need a public mandate.

To Brexit or not to Brexit has, in reality, no public mandate for what we actually do next. All we have now, is effectively a public expression of a continuing of the status quo of being in the EU.

It doesn't really say 'leave' even though that was the question asked. It has become clear what 'leave' actually means is wide ranging and complex in nature.

We will need a plan that will need to be mandated in someway.

Anyway we shall see, but I do think that Chilcot reshapes the political landscape somewhat. Probably in the favour of the public - though not necessarily directly towards raw result of the Leave vote.

GingerIvy · 06/07/2016 13:26

You'd think. But I don't think the government will learn anything from this. They'll talk about how lessons must be learned, and how people must be informed, then they'll go right back to what they were doing.

Indeed, Red - 'our politicians are infantile and inadequate'.

Cameron's infantile mocking of Corbyn over investment in deprived areas just proves the point.

Nice to see Cameron has already "checked out" and is happy to make jokes at Corbyn's expense when the subject is people who are struggling financially. What an utter prat. I can think of harsher epithets, GingerIvy, but totally agree with you.

I was not aware of this from March....

Someone did a list of Labour MPs ranking them as core or hostile to Corbyn. It was leaked to the Times.

Its interesting to see in the context of how this has played out (and who is still in the shadow cabinet).

(full list in in this independent version of the story)

I'm also trying to find a list of MPs who took part in the Iraq vote and are still MPs. It could be interesting....

OP posts:
Peregrina · 06/07/2016 14:04

Thanks for the list. I can see why Angela Eagle and Hilary Benn wanted Corbyn out of the way.

LineyReborn · 06/07/2016 14:08

And Yvette Cooper.

Farage wants to do Celebrity Big Brother, if they can make it a Brexit version.

This is all just surreal now.

TheBathroomSink · 06/07/2016 14:18

I've made a terrible mistake. I read some of the comments under the Indy article on that list. Those people are scary.

DoinItFine · 06/07/2016 14:19

I'm sure there could be no reason other than the publication of a report about things that happened more than a decade ago to want to get rid of a pro-Brexit opposition leader who wanted to invoke article 50 immediately.

Hmm
RedToothBrush · 06/07/2016 14:20

Paddy Ashdown ‏@paddyashdown
Tories will be led by a red-in-tooth-and-claw Brexiteer. Leadsome is one and to win Theresa May will become one. What home 4 Tory Remainers?

Now two things in that. Trying to steal Tory support and secondly suggesting May will become a Brexiteer.

Personally I do agree with the latter sentiment.

OP posts:
TheBathroomSink · 06/07/2016 14:20

That Farage interview can't be real, surely?
"Mr Farage admitted it would be “tempting” to go into the CBB house to mentally torture EU bosses."

He's thought this out as clearly as his Brexit plan, hasn't he?

Doesn't CBB get an audience of about three 15 year olds and the Daily Star editor?

howabout · 06/07/2016 14:22

And that demonstrates oh so clearly that Cameron (and the Conservatives) really have NOT learned ONE THING from the referendum.

This is why I am pro AL and anti TM or Gove. If either TM or Gove win the PM race then I am convinced the cabinet will be constructed back to exactly as it was before the referendum with exactly the same domestic policies. Anything seriously draconian and otherwise electorally suicidal will be re-badged as a necessary evil due to Brexit.

RedToothBrush · 06/07/2016 14:25

I have no idea what to believe right now.
What is the papers? What is the politicians? What is the nutters off the net?
Its ridiculous.

But hell at least I get to say I said CBB and Farage first!

Blair making a tearful speech now.

RedToothBrush · 06/07/2016 14:28

This is why I am pro AL and anti TM or Gove.

I'm not convinced that AL wouldn't suffer the same issue.

OP posts:
RedToothBrush · 06/07/2016 14:29

Boo hoo Blair.

OP posts:
LineyReborn · 06/07/2016 14:35

Well, Corbyn has suggested that the Commons could take action against Blair for misleading it.

So I'm not surprised Blair's having a little cry.

But what a massive, hideous insult Blair's little cry is to the bereaved families in the UK and in Iraq.

howabout · 06/07/2016 14:39

I'm not convinced that AL wouldn't suffer the same issue

I think the risks of not changing course for an AL led administration are far higher because the level of outside scrutiny and hostility from both sides of the Commons would be far greater.

The government will still only have a majority of 15. A TM led administration neutralises a lot of critique which might come from Tory Remainers of which there are 200ish. AL is very likely to suffer a degree of inside revolt from disgruntled back benchers.

Hamishandthefoxes · 06/07/2016 14:41

Actually I'd like a CBB Brexit edition.

So long as we could lock Arron Banks, George Galloway, Nigel garage, Michael Gove and Boris Johnson in the big brother house and throw away the key.

I would guess BJ as the surviving King rat.

DoinItFine · 06/07/2016 14:42

I am persuaded by your argument, howabout.
