Wow what a week Grin
I'm still walking on air & soooooo happy we're leaving, just want A50 triggered ASAP!

OP posts:
MangoMoon · 01/07/2016 17:49

The problem with that is that the question wasn't restricted to further immigrants. It referred also to current and past immigrants,

Thank you Judy, but I'd like to point out that prior to that comment I also explained that 'people of the U.K.' to me, included all colour, language & country of origin.

I said that I hoped for life to be better for all people currently of the U.K. as well as future immigrants too.

HelpfulChap · 01/07/2016 17:54

Orange

Sorry, I stand corrected. Meant to say it was the Pres that was pushing for one.

Apologies.

You get my gist though, there are several other EU nations that are pushing for a referendum.

RosesareSublime · 01/07/2016 17:58

The wilful misinterpretation, twisting of words & spin that have been utilised throughout this thread against Leave voters has been unbelievable

Hasn't it just! And a thread for leavers too!

RosesareSublime · 01/07/2016 18:00

There is deep and growing dissatisfaction within the EU.
Amazing really when you would think from some posts on here its a raging success.

Stanleysmum01 · 01/07/2016 18:02

We'll be o.k as long as Tony Blair doesn't negotiate for us, hinting as he is, we should snap the hand off the New Zealanders for offering their negotiators.

HelpfulChap · 01/07/2016 18:04

I would suggest the 50% youth unemployment in many southern European nations and savage austerity proves it is anything but a success.

magicboy79 · 01/07/2016 18:05

I live in Northern Ireland and us leavers are def in the minority, I'm almost made feel ashamed to say I voted out! Which is crazy really.
I feel sad that boris has jumped ship and campaigned so hard then just stepped away. I think Teresa may will make a great leader.
There just seems to be a lot of threats and fear over nothing. Hope they get on with it now

HelpfulChap · 01/07/2016 18:09

Tony Blair - god help us.

Still hasn't paid for his war crimes yet which led in large part to the refugee crisis we are now seeing in the middle east.

twofingerstoGideon · 01/07/2016 18:19

Which nations are pushing for a referendum? I am aware of some right wing factions in other EU nations pushing for this, but that's not the same thing at all, is it?

user1467101855 · 01/07/2016 18:21

No, there are some right wing elements pushing for it, nothing on a real scale.

BeenThereDoneThatForgotten · 01/07/2016 18:33

I have not seen anyone describe how things are going to be "better" in the short or long term than they are now. Maybe someone could explain what huge improvements we will see? How do leavers see the future? What will the improvements be in real terms. None of this "taking back control" stuff. What real, actual benefits are we going to see?

Helmetbymidnight · 01/07/2016 18:37

glass, well I certainly can't condone that! However it does highlight a feeling that is 'you fucking wanted this- sort it out yourself'

Hopefully it won't come to that, but I can't say I think the chances of deprived areas doing better out the eu - is v v slim.

user1467101855 · 01/07/2016 18:40

Maybe someone could explain what huge improvements we will see?

We keep asking, but all we get is "things will be better, yay democracy". If just one leave voter could explain HOW it will be better, for people in real life, it might help.
Strangely quiet though, on the topic.

Stanleysmum01 · 01/07/2016 18:40

magicboy79 glad you spoke out, the press makes it sound like absolutely no-one in Northern Ireland or Scotland voted out.

HereSheComestoSavetheDay · 01/07/2016 18:43

It's absolutely shocking that after a thread of this length, no one has responded with anything but their hopes that it is going to work out.

It's almost unbelievable. If I hadn't seen the blind hubris of the leavers this week, I wouldn't believe it.

I truly cringe to think about what idiots we look to the rest of the world.

gerispringer · 01/07/2016 18:44

But Michael Gove hates "experts" doesn't he? I think he said he wanted us to be like Albania. Could be heading that way .

Stanleysmum01 · 01/07/2016 18:50

HereSheComes and User I think you should start a new thread if thats the question you want answered.

user1467101855 · 01/07/2016 18:54

Why? This thread is full of happy leavers, why is a question about what is going to be changed for good by leaving inappropriate?

Other than the fact that none of you seem to know?

buckingfrolicks · 01/07/2016 18:57

Your post Baby is terrific. Thank you for putting into clear words what is also my mishmash of feelings.

BlackeyedSusan · 01/07/2016 18:58

I think leavers are happy as nothing has happened that affected them. It is unlikely that they would have voted leave if they were the ones whose jobs would be put at risk. Any of the other things that might happen in the longer term, price rises due to the increase in the cost of oil as the pound falls against the dollar, decrease in values of pensions, having to pay more for holiday, possibly increased roaming charges on mobile phones, repealing EU legislation that has been incorporated into British law, or loss of income tax revenues as people relocate to the Eu... have not taken effect yet, thus no reason to be unhappy with the way they voted, so far.

CaptainBrickbeard · 01/07/2016 19:06

Stanley, a them read was started asking for reasons Leave voters were happy. Not a single person was able to articulate why Brexit was a good thing - at all. Not one benefit of Brexit was put forward - at all. No Leave voter has explained how or why this is positive. The best anyone has done is to say things MIGHT be better, a long time in the future. Leave voters do not have a clue and how could they, given the leaders of the campaign don't know what to do next or how a post-Brexit Britain might be great, or even ok.

HereSheComestoSavetheDay · 01/07/2016 19:14

Should be a pretty fucking easy question to answer, shouldn't it?

You should have answers falling out of you like pips from a squashed tomato, after making a monumental decision that affects every human being in the UK.

HereSheComestoSavetheDay · 01/07/2016 19:16

We've all 'had enough of experts'. Let's see what the people who had no idea what was going to happen think is going to happen.

Stanleysmum01 · 01/07/2016 19:17

No I'm not an oracle and no I can't wave a wand and make it all better and yes you can argue that it won't affect me unless I lose my job actually I have already in the past, 3 times in fact working for the NHS and private, also lost my home in the last recession, use food banks and very nearly came close to mugging someone because they had a huge wad of cash, now thats not normal, I'm not like that, I work hard, don't overspend etc etc. Admittedly I was suffering from PTSD at the time so maybe I wasn't in my right mind. Anyway I digress, yes it can get worse for me but I got through that, now have the tools to cope, will keep calm and carry on.

MangoMoon · 01/07/2016 19:24

This wasn't what happened!
This is what happened:

Thread title:
Exactly one week on - happy 'leavers' how are we all feeling?

OP:
Wow what a week
I'm still walking on air & soooooo happy we're leaving, just want A50 triggered ASAP!

At no point was the premise of this thread "Leave voters who are happy: please state reasons for your elation. Please ensure to articulate exactly why you think Brexit was A Good Thing".

If you want the above thread, then probs best to start it tbh - exactly as Stanleysmum helpfully suggested.
