To think Juncker is an arrogant fucker

I was/am a staunch remainer and, like many, am shell shocked at the result. IMO leaving the EU is quite frankly a disaster for this country's economy. The harsh truth is we simply don't have enough desirable commodity to be able to trade on the world stage that puts us in a strong position to negotiate favourable terms.

But I watched in horror at Juncker's speech on the eve of the referendum with his bully boy stance and tactics - which has only intensified since the result.

The best result the UK can hope for now is that Brexit will cause a domino effect which means the entire EU will be forced to reform under a new president and government.

The Czech Republic has now spoken out, criticising Juncker and calling for his resignation. It's a long shot but let's just hope and pray that other countries follow suit.

He is a dreadful man. The fact that he is in an unelected position of power is one of the reasons I voted leave.

TheFirie · 27/06/2016 06:03

The fact is that the referendum is now paralysing the EU.
So if UK really wants out, it has to declare it, because otherwise it just makes EU impossible to work.
Should UK still take part in the discussions and tasks?
Should money still be allocated?

Someone has to take responsibility and declare art 50. Problem is the United Kingdom is not united. Several regions want to stay in and can express their vote to block the Brexit.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 27/06/2016 07:15

I agree that the sheer arrogance of unelected Eurocrats, not least of Juncker, will have prompted a percentage of Leave votes.

I voted Remain, but was tempted to vote the other way purely because of this sort of arrogance from powerful people on huge salaries who can never be voted out by the people they dictate to.

Floisme · 27/06/2016 07:31

Well personally I think there are more pressing things to worry about right now than Juncker's arrogance.

lem73 · 27/06/2016 07:34

I voted remain but when I listen to unelected officials like Junker make me understand why many people passionately hate the EU.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 27/06/2016 07:40

Yes. All of this.

scarednoob · 27/06/2016 07:43

Absolutely. There is no hint of "over 17,000,000 people dislike EU policies plus we know there are countless others across Europe who feel the same, hmmm, maybe we should listen to some of the concerns". Instead it is just "the public are too thick to know what's best for them and we must crush Britain so nobody else dares to leave." And his hard line shit just before the vote didn't help I suspect.

He's a total twat and tusk is no better.

Charley50 · 27/06/2016 07:43

I agree OP.

BigChocFrenzy · 27/06/2016 07:48

After the divorce, the UK is camping out in the living room.
Brexiters saying this will wreck the EU is like saying "and we hope this wrecks your life too"
Natural he is bitter

Other things to worry about:

The Institute of Directors say a quarter of their members are putting hiring plans on hold, while 5% said they were set to make workers redundant.
36 % are cutting investment as a result of Brexit vs 9% who are increasimg it

US bank JP Morgan says they are shedding 4,000 jobs
HSBC says they are moving 1,000 jobs to France
Other London firms are setting up sites in other EU financial sites

By the time it comes to negotiate, I hope the UK isn't doing so from its knees.

ExtraHotLatteToGo · 27/06/2016 07:50

TotallyPearShaped

It's perfectly possible to state your position without being childish.

We are talking about a major change affecting millions of people worldwide, not just those in the UK. The UK is the worlds 5th biggest economy, stability is important.

It's not a matter of just leaving, there's a massive amount of negotiation that needs to take place - for everyones benefit.

Do you not realise these negotiations are not about what the UK 'gets', but about what other countries 'get' in return?

BigChocFrenzy · 27/06/2016 07:51

If anyone voted Out because they disliked him, you've just put yourself at his mercy - he'll have a lot of influence on terms,

ExtraHotLatteToGo · 27/06/2016 07:57

Personally I'd like DC to make it formal when he's there this week to stop Sturgeon in her tracks & Johnson in his, however, i don't think it's the right thing to do.

ExtraHotLatteToGo · 27/06/2016 07:58

...and the lack of belief in the UK & scaremongering continues.

scarednoob · 27/06/2016 07:59

6th biggest economy now Sad

Ok who shall we try and blame for this fuckup next?

I think it's all Larry the Cat's fault.

Badders123 · 27/06/2016 08:07

I voted remain
I am uttekrutterly dismayed by the result as you can imagine.
But the vote came in as leave. lets not go into all the leave voters who now feel stupid and lied to
So we need to just get on with it.
Nature abhors a vacuum...lets just start the proceedings and get in with it.
Bad times are a comin....

Showmethewaytogohome · 27/06/2016 08:10

I save my anger for those who have caused this - I can't understand why you would hit out at anyone else

BOZO and his mates deserve your anger - oh and just to let you know there isn't a plan you know

SemiNormal · 27/06/2016 08:24

Schulz, Junker and Van Rumpoy, all part of the reason I opted to vote leave. I regularly watch Youtube videos of EU parliament and am always shocked at their arrogance and bully boy tactics. I hated the fact we were under their control, there is no negotiating with them at all, it's their way or the highway.

TheDuchessOfArbroathsHat · 27/06/2016 08:27

I am a 'remainer' and I agree with Show - and Boris has my contempt and anger. I can't even speak about Gove.
However - the intervention and bile spewing bully boy tactics of Juncker had a lot of bearing on the outcome in my opinion. He's a vile fucker who has always had it in for Cameron because DC tried to block his appointment. In retrospect it looks as though he had good reason.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 27/06/2016 08:33

Juncker and his ilk are one of the reasons I voted Leave. There is no time frame in Art 50 for a member state to give formal notification. If the EU wanted member states to leave quickly they should have put a timescale in the Art, they didn't so it's tough shit for Junker, he will have to wait.

IrenetheQuaint · 27/06/2016 08:37

I voted Remain for many reasons, but entirely agree that the Eurocrats have done themselves and the continent no favours with their ghastly arrogance and wilful blindness to the views of people on the ground across Europe. If the EU breaks up they'll have a lot to answer for.

Floisme · 27/06/2016 08:42

Voting to drive the economy over a cliff edge, with no idea whether it it'll land safely or not, because you think someone's arrogant?

Righto.

TheLionSleepsAha · 27/06/2016 08:49

Yanbu. France, Italy, Denmark all have a significant proportion of the population wishing to exit the EU. The likes of Juncker need to wake up and realise they aren't Kim Jong And this isn't North Korea. Listen to the people baying mob

firesidechat · 27/06/2016 08:50

Juncker was one of the main reasons that I very nearly voted for Brexit. My husband voted to leave because of the bloated, unelected bureaucracy of the eu and Juncker's nasty pronouncements during the referendum campaign consolidated that. He has a lot to answer for.
