Straw poll - if the vote was repeated tomorrow, would you change your vote?

Just that really, and although MN doesn't represent the whole of the country, how many REMAINERS would now vote LEAVE? And how many LEAVERS would now vote REMAIN?

Voted Leave, would still vote Leave.

Nothing to do with immigration & everything to do with the EU being unfit for purpose and whether we had stayed or not it's about to get a whole lot worse. Many Remainers seem to be under the impression life would carry on as it was. It was bad enough as it was, but that was the tip of the iceberg.

Boris, Farage etc are NOT what intelligent Leavers are about, but we just get shouted down.

Anyway, this was supposed to be a straw poll thread, not another debate thread. Sorry.

Remain before and Remain now. Like WhoKnows I would have tried much harder to convince people. I concentrated on my vote and should have taken a much more active role and if a 2nd ref is called will do. Although I actually hoping that maybe Parliament will just overturn/reject the vote. After all it was just a pre-legislative/advisory referendum (unlike the 2011 ref for alternative vote which post-legislative and Parliament had to abide by the result).

ClashCityRocker · 26/06/2016 10:42

Too early to say yet.

I think there should be another referendum once we actually have an exit plan. I know this is glorious anecdata, but discussions with leavers I've had indicate that their main reason for leaving was immigration. It is highly possible and some commentators suggest likely that free movement of people will be part of any trade deal with the EU.

I voted remain for stability; at present, I would not change that vote. Should we have a second referendum I am unsure how I would vote - it would depend on the plans in place at that point.

I rather think that political stability has gone out of the window now whether we ultimately remain or not - and that is very very bad for Britain.

I am fucking furious with our politicians for getting us in this mess in the first place.

I would still vote leave.

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 26/06/2016 10:49

Remain. Remain.

FinderofNeedles · 26/06/2016 10:53

I remain a remain voter.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/06/2016 10:57

Voted leave and have absolutely no reason to change - I believe the EU is broken and prefer to get out and forge our own path now, rather than trying to escape the mess to come

GloriaGaynor · 26/06/2016 11:01

Remain and will remain.

Brokenbiscuit · 26/06/2016 11:05

I voted remain and would vote the same way again, but I don't think we should have another vote.

Yes, I think that the leave voters have screwed the country for decades to come, and I am desperately sad about the vote, but Cameron foolishly decided to open the question up to the public vote, and I think we now have to live with that result. We can't just keep sending people back to the ballot box to get the right answer.

GloriaGaynor · 26/06/2016 11:05

God knows what would have happened in 2020 when the uk would have had to join the euro

In February 2016 Cameron negotiated a deal with the EU that gives the UK special status. The result is that Britain will never join the Euro. And we will have full say over the rules of the free trade single market while remaining outside the Euro.

I'm also wondering if it's worth considering a counter petition to the one doing the rounds now, to uphold the result of the referendum. The petition seems to be gaining momentum and it needs to be balanced with one from those who chose to leave....you know the ones who won by a majority.

Ahem. That petition was started by a leave voter.

I don't think many leave voters will admit they were wrong. My Dad voted leave (he is an extremely intelligent professor at a red brick uni). My Mum has told me he has become very depressed since the results and she thinks he is regretting his decision. To the outside world he is still acting as if he is very pleased with the result. It makes me sad. I don't think it was fair to put this to the people. It was a decision that the public were unable to take without being swayed by predjudice and blinded by patriotism.

We elect a parliament for a reason.

peachpudding · 26/06/2016 12:32

If we have the vote again and remain won, it would only be fair to let leave have another vote to see if they can overturn that decision.

justalittlelemondrizzle · 26/06/2016 12:49

I voted remain and I definately would again.

DurhamDurham · 26/06/2016 12:50

99 that's not a petition I would ever have signed which is why I would want a counter petition to balance things out.
Me and my husband did not vote in the same way however we both agree that's it's wrong to petition against a democratically voted for result.

If we have another referendum and remain won do we get to go again, is it the best out of three??

Dawndonnaagain · 26/06/2016 12:57

Remain/Remain.

Candypops14 · 26/06/2016 12:59

Voted leave and would again every time

99GBPChargeToUseMyPostsJournos · 26/06/2016 13:01

Durham:

So you want to balance a petition by someone who chose to leave, with one by those who chose to leave?

I'm just pointing out the irony. You go right ahead and start your counter-petition.

allnewredfairy · 26/06/2016 13:07

Voted leave and absolutely would again.

Madbengalmum · 26/06/2016 13:08

Nope, you would have to have been extremely fickle to not vote for what you believe in.

Bettercallsaul1 · 26/06/2016 13:11

I remain a remainer.

glenthebattleostrich · 26/06/2016 13:23

Voted leave and would again.

Interesting that the 2 people on this thread who would change voted remain.

MyNewBearTotoro · 26/06/2016 13:26

Remain - remain.
