Brexit

To not be able to speak to my near neighbours who voted leave?

My children's future has been put at stake. Our economy risks ruin. Our relatively -well-off neighbours in a place with nearly full employment and very low recent immigration (local care companies and NHS are desperate for staff) have voted leave. They are only around fifty.

I'm gobsmacked.

The irony is that the small business they are in is affected by the growth of China as an economic powerhouse. So why on earth do they feel that leaving the EU gives them more power? It gives them less.

I am so angry and feel so let down by my country. These people, and people like them ahem destroyed my hopes for a continued peace in Europe.

How on earth am I expected to talk to them on an equal footing, knowing what they have done through their own greed?

Afternoon all,

We can see that there's been a lot of sock puppeting going on on this thread - this counts as deliberately misleading behaviour and is against our Talk Guidelines.

We've already suspended one poster over this - please be aware that we'll suspend any others who continues to breach our site rules. It's not on.

Dear MNHQ, is the sock puppet a Brexiter or Bremainer? Wink

Well there's a plot twist.

Apple behave! Smile

Thank you Dawn. I think with all the threads which are calling people horrible names because they exercised their right to vote, your job must be hell atm.

Apple behave!

I'll admit it's a challenge these days.

@louisagradgrind

Is Emily Bohemia a sock puupet?!

In a word, no!

Let's not turn this into a witch hunt, though. We just wanted to make it clear that it's not a fair fight if people are posting under several different usernames, so please stick to our site rules or face the consequences.

A European super-state would have been our greatest fascist threat.

Ok but I suppose if you say there has been sock puppetry on a thread, without naming said sock puppet, then it is only natural for those who have been engaging on a thread to wonder if they have wasted their time with that sock puppet.

That isn't really a witch hunt.

Yes, you're being unreasonable. Your neighbour is entitled to their own views, just as you are. I voted to remain but I'm taking it on the chin and looking at what will happen next. In future it's probably best to avoid any political conversations as they're likely to feel just as strongly as you and it will probably end with bad feeling.

Tea, that is the thing. There will still be harder elements in the EU if we leave. Participating is a better way to deal with it.

HQ, I feel so frightened by what I'd happening, truly scared. I do think Farage is dangerous. I apologize for earlier comments as I know it creates work for you and there are legal ramifications of those kind of comments.

I am sorry for calling posters a nasty name.

I am not a sock puppet.

I am going to try to chill now as my anger is too much for me to be on social media.

That is an excellent post Rap12, if I may say. (Your long one Grin from just before midnight yesterday)

Can someone explain sock puppeting. Is it someone argueing with themselves?

Report
PortiaCastis · 27/06/2016 17:39

Sock puppetry is making 2 accounts with different names and yes talking to yourself

Report
MangoMoon · 27/06/2016 17:40

Backing up your own points as 'different posters' or arguing with yourself to create controversy within a thread.

Report
EvansOvalPies · 27/06/2016 17:40

No, MrsGlow - it's someone pretending to be someone else and agreeing with themselves. So someone sets up two or three names and agrees with themselves on a thread, pretending to be other posters. (I've only lately worked that out myself, after quite a long time) Grin

Totally awkward at work today - have barely spoken with the person who was excited to tell me first thing this morning they voted Leave and thought I did the same. Not being unreasonable at all OP.

My Chinese MIL voted Leave. We found out over dinner. Even my FIL was surprised. We're confused as to why but people need to work to get long and not make judgements based on one voting decision.

What does it say about you that you don't respect their right to choose! Isn't that what democracy is all about? Shame on you this is a time for everyone to pull together not to sling mud and be judgemental!

Blueflowers - how sad for you! You need to accept that other people have an opinion.

OK thanks. Wow some people have a lot of time on their hands if they are doing that!
