I know there will be difficult times ahead.

Staying there was also going to be difficult times afraid.

But I think it's the way forward ! I'm pleased change is on the cards.

Oh and look forward top Boris Johnson as the next conservative leader! hes dangerous!!!

RortyCrankle · 25/06/2016 13:48

Best way Trini I don't know about you but I don't find it fun to constantly bash my head against a brick wall.

Mooing have you moved in? mustard top shelf, I trust you brought your own music, sprays bare feet with air freshener Grin

FrankUnderwoodsWife · 25/06/2016 13:48

I believe we were heading for an economic downturn regardless. If we had stayed with the EU and entered into a recession, I'm sure the leavers would feel pretty aggrieved.

Anyway schadenfreude is never kind!

PaintedDrivesAndPolishedGrass · 25/06/2016 13:53

The NHS as you think of it hasn't existed since 2011. It has been phased out gradually. How many have lost their jobs? ( in figures). Where did you get your information regarding benefits? Racism and bigotry is being stirred up by the media.

GertrudeBelle · 25/06/2016 13:53

No "immigrants" will be asked to leave, they may do so of their own accord, but we're not about to start throwing people out, for goodness sake

FrankUnderwoodsWife: only 71% of immigrants from the EU are eligible for permanent residence. No guarantees yet for the rest.

FrankUnderwoodsWife · 25/06/2016 13:58

But if they're working or studying here, why would we ask them to leave? I just don't believe that would happen.

Unfortunately, in light of the Brexit vote, I do know of a wealthy EU migrant to the UK, who is now planning to move his business abroad. I wish that wasn't the case, but I can empathise that he feels very upset by the result of the vote.

But I think that says more about him than us?

GertrudeBelle · 25/06/2016 14:00

Because they don't have a legal right to stay.

TriniRedVelvet · 25/06/2016 14:00

Peppatina how big is your forehead??? Grin

BertrandRussell · 25/06/2016 14:00

Dd has just had a round robin email from her university saying that all Europe students currently studying or due to start in the next academic year will not be affected in any way.

Not to be immature but... in your face remainers :)

GingerIvy · 25/06/2016 14:05

Posting this as I think it's interesting. Copy/pasted it from someone else (not on MN).

A Prime Minister resigned. The £ plummeted. The FTSE 100 lost significant ground. But then the £ rallied past February levels, and the FTSE closed on a weekly high: 2.4% up on last Friday, its best performance in 4 months. President Obama decided we wouldn't be at the 'back of the queue' after all and that our 'special relationship' was still strong. The French President confirmed the Le Touquet agreement would stay in place. The President of the European Commission stated Brexit negations would be 'orderly' and stressed the UK would continue to be a 'close partner' of the EU. A big bank denied reports it would shift 2,000 staff overseas. The CBI, vehemently anti-Brexit during the referendum campaign, stated British business was resilient and would adapt. Several countries outside the EU stated they wished to begin bi-lateral trade talks with the UK immediately. If this was the predicted apocalypse, well, it was a very British one. It was all over by teatime. Not a bad first day of freedom.

BertrandRussell · 25/06/2016 14:06

Trini- can you define "self governing sovreignity?"

iniquity · 25/06/2016 14:18

I wasn't brave enough to vote leave, but now the country has I'm sure we'll be just fine once we stop whinging.

GingerIvy · 25/06/2016 14:29

BurnTheBlackSuit · 25/06/2016 16:51

I don't feel welcome in the country anymore because of this vote.

I voted to leave and half the country hates me now :(

Surferjet · 25/06/2016 17:00

No, 95% of the country love you. ❤️
It's only a few middle class idiots who can't bare the working classes rising up who are taking this really bad, they'll shut up soon.

it's a brand new world for the silent majority Wine

CoteDAzur · 25/06/2016 17:42

Ginger - I saw that on FB, too. It is a stupid meme.

The Pound lost 7% against the Dollar and 6% against the Euro in one day. Stock markets fell off a cliff. FTSE 100 recovered somewhat because much of the revenues of large companies that make up that index are in USD and EUR, which means they will increase in GBP terms. Presidents, BoE etc are making soothing announcements to contain the fallout and prevent a proper collapse but everyone knows that this colossal mistake will cost the UK at least the next couple of years. Which is why Moody's just downgraded the UK's outlook to "Negative".

In short, no, not a rosy picture at all.

Mooingcow · 25/06/2016 17:48

I'm crying with laughter at all people saying pompously 'well, it's so very complex that most mortal people should never have been allowed in a booth' and then proceeding to tell me that it's completely simple: if you're racist, you voted out.

I know a couple of nasty racists. They work in the City and voted in. I suspect they aren't alone.

RortyCrankle · 25/06/2016 18:12

There are a huge number of threads on here for doom and gloom. This is the only one for celebrating the result.

Despite Remainers believing to the contrary, we are not stupid and know that things will be bumpy initially but firmly believe it will lead to a brighter future.

How are the eyebrows Mooing? Gorgeous no doubt Smile

Mooingcow · 25/06/2016 19:23

Yes. I can't decide which makes me more attractive, my louchely raised brow or my polished jackboots.

Might come back via yours for some overexcited table dancing WineWineFlowers

Coulddowithanap · 25/06/2016 19:38

I have French friends who have said they don't feel welcome now ( they've been here over 20 years). I feel sad they think that way but also couldn't admit to them that I voted to leave.

So many people seem to think leaving the EU isn't all to do with immigration.

RortyCrankle · 25/06/2016 19:41

Builds up support to table legs in anticipation Wink
