I know tatt - I started the thread and there was no response at all.
As it turns out though, I've just been invited to a party that night. Can't really expect everyone to stand in darkness there though........can I?

Uki · 23/03/2008 05:10

why not candle lit party could be really fun. last year I ended up making earth hour the whole night, as candlelight has such a different and relaxing vibe.

Triathlete · 23/03/2008 09:35

What a smashing idea. We're in. It'll be interesting to see the data on the results.

Might as well get used to it, in 20 years we'll all be living that way permanently. Well, the survivors will.

sophy · 23/03/2008 18:11

We'll be supporting this

sophy · 24/03/2008 19:29

Earth Hour link

sophy · 29/03/2008 17:11

Just to remind you all, Earth Hour is tonight between 8 and 9 pm.

So switch off the electricity and get cosy in the candlelight!

VictorianSqualor · 29/03/2008 17:25

Arghhh, casualty is on then!
Can I just do it until 8:40?

sophy · 29/03/2008 17:27

Well that's better than not doing it at all!

sophy · 29/03/2008 17:28

Or, you could watch Casualty by candlelight?

VictorianSqualor · 29/03/2008 17:31

It'll use electricity watching casualty though!
I'll happily turn everything else off and just watch casualty if that's a good enough compromise.

fryalot · 29/03/2008 17:33

rofl at "watch casualty by candlelight"

that's what I'm going to do

VictorianSqualor · 29/03/2008 17:35

I know!
I'll watch casualty in the car

beautifuldays · 29/03/2008 17:55

i think you are just meant to turn your lights off between 8pm and 9pm, not all your electric, so watching casualty by candlelight is ok

LynetteScavo · 29/03/2008 20:09

So Im sitting here in the dark. I can only see the key pad from the light emmited by the screen.......

pinkspottywellies · 29/03/2008 20:11

It feels a bit wrong to have the rest of the electric on if we're supposed to be making a point. I'm just switching the laptop off and I'm going to have a candlelit bath!

All my lights are off but the laptop seems mega bright now- it's hurting my eys.

Just had a look up my street- looks like we're the only ones taking part .

annemarie29 · 29/03/2008 20:42

dh and i used to sit in the dark like this all the time! enjoying it.

iMum · 29/03/2008 20:50

am sitting here in the cadle light-mumsntting via my iPhone and wrapped up in a duvet-might have an early night instead of the mindless tellybox watching I normally do!

lucyellensmum · 29/03/2008 20:50

ive got all the lights off, only just now, no one else down the street has it seems, but i have the washing machine on

Nettee · 29/03/2008 20:57

I only remebered 5 minutes ago but shocked myself by how many lights I had to turn off - I suppose that is the point.

sophy · 29/03/2008 21:21

We turned all electricity off except fridge and freezer.

Was very nice in the canlelight with the fire going.

alipiggie · 29/03/2008 21:31

Colorado's joining in too. Denver and Boulder are switching off the lights as well. I'm lucky to live in an area where street lights are at a minimum anyway and I can see the stars everynight. I'll be lighting my candles.

Hats off to Google too for reminding us all with their dark search screen.

southeastastra · 29/03/2008 21:31

we are draining the earth's resources at an alarming rate. i'd have joined in if i'd realised.
