you know when you've got out and the water is still hot (and clean)

It may also be an age thing.

DH is 30, but growing up, they never shared baths.

I shower almost exclusively. Quicker and uses less water, especially when you set a timer and don't languish in there.

But the thought of using someone's lukewarm or cold water after they'd been in it in this freezing cold place just doesn't sound appealing.

Gah. That's blown my theory...

expatinscotland · 11/03/2008 21:00

DH is Scottish.

He and his brother shared baths as young children, but there was no other bath sharing going on in the house other than that.

It was the done thing when both his parents were growing up, of course, and they both hated it.

To the point where his mother would put a huge pot of water on to boil to heat up a bath of fresh water when they were living in places without a good supply.

His dad worked an extra maintenance job to save up for a shower as soon as they took up the tenancy on their former HA house in the 80s.

yes, we do - within reason. I get in first and then Dh has my water unless I have been deforesting etc. Ds1 quite often gets in with me as he likes the deep water and all the children have the same bath together.

sushistar · 31/03/2008 22:40

Yes, me first (sometimes with ds) then dh. He's dirty, he cycles to work. We don't have a shower so it's the greenest option!

NoBiggy · 31/03/2008 22:57

Often. Saves time running fresh baths or waiting for water to heat. And the DDs think it's fun.

Bewilderbeast · 31/03/2008 23:01

yes often with ds and always used to with dp but not so much since we had ds.

MamaMaiasaura · 31/03/2008 23:05

Yes, share a bath with baby everynight.

Dp showers. ds1 has seperate shower or bath as he is paranoid about baby wee.

barcelonababe · 31/03/2008 23:10

imo, both baths and power showers(high pressure ones) are truly non eco friendly.
I;d rather have a quick shower, whish/wash,- 3 minutes tops and out!

ah, it is also an interesting fact that most women like their baths hotter than the men!

We call it the family sheep dip

lljkk · 29/04/2008 13:27

I'm American (the token weirdo, maybe?) I share baths.
Me getting in the bath is best way to coax dc in -- I usually get out when they start piling up on me. I would stay if bath were big enough for everybody (& water still hot enuff).
I find it funny the Brit-Yank divide on this. Normally the Brits are so squeamish about most everything.

H. (English) hates baths but often showers with dc.

Indith · 29/04/2008 13:31

Had me, dp and ds all in the bath at once the other day ds was in heaven. "Look I can play 'how far does mummy's nipple stretch', turn around and play 'poke daddy's willy'"

oiFoiF · 29/04/2008 13:38

sweetbean · 29/04/2008 13:45
