you know when you've got out and the water is still hot (and clean)

Ds only gets a bath 3 times a week or so, and if its a morning bath he and I share.

Would love a huge bath so that we can all share, but that needs a bathroom redesign !

I remember Sunday bath night - Dad first, then me, then DB during Songs of Praise. My mum has always regarded her bath as sacred though.

DH and I share towels, but usually after DS has used one it goes in the wash as he tends to wee on them. Other towels are washed once a week, or by just never giving DS an out of the cupboard clean one.

My kids share a bath. I have never had a bath with them, before or after them.
Dh will often get in my bath after, but i never get into his old bath water!
Mostly we shower.

magnolia74 · 11/03/2008 12:41

God yes! The kids have a bath and then Dh gets in after

I insist on a new bath but thats coz I like it really hot.

jellybeans · 11/03/2008 12:48

yes we do but i try go first :D xx

dylsmum1998 · 11/03/2008 13:10

we share baths, when we bathing dd gets in, then when she's had her half hour soak ds gets in, then i'll get in after.
if we showering ds showers alone, but as soon as i even think of showering dd shouts me shower and strips off waiting for me to get in and lift her in with me

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 11/03/2008 13:22

Yes but me 1st!

GooseyLoosey · 11/03/2008 13:28

When I was a child, whole family (only 3 of us) got in one after the other. There was no way we would ever have had enough hot water for 3 baths.

Ds and dd always share now and dh and I share (and will ocassionally jump in with the dcs). Why wouldn't you?

sophy · 11/03/2008 17:21

DH and I share a bath together every weekend, always have done. Very green because with two fairly chubby bodies in there you hardly need any water to fill it to the brim.

The ds's share a bath every night.

And dh shares a bath with the ds's for the weekly hair washing ritual. (Theirs not his, his gets washed every day!)

cosima · 11/03/2008 17:23

yes, and we wee in it. Wee is sterile. and then we use the water to flush the toilet. And we are modern aswell and shop at Harvey Nichols!

urine is sterile and doesn't stink unless it is infected or 'old'.Urea is one of the major ingredients in premium cosmetics so pee on !!!!!!!!!

princessosyth · 11/03/2008 18:24

No, I could only do this if we were having the bath at the same time. I couldn't get into dirty bath water, that is too minging for me! I only have a bath once in a blue moon when I find the time as we shower so I guess we are using less water anyway.

noddyholder · 11/03/2008 18:26

dp gets in my bath.I don't pee in it but try to pee on my feet in the shower as it is very good for skin

scottishmummy · 11/03/2008 18:42

har har why get out better with 2 or 3 (if squeezing in bubba)love having a bath with my man

expatinscotland · 11/03/2008 18:51

thank you for sharing that, cosima.

izzybiz · 11/03/2008 18:56

Dh or Ds will get in mine if I have just had a relaxing bath (no shaving, scrubbing etc)

I won't get in after them though!

Dh and Dd share a bath quite often, she loves it.

scottishmummy · 11/03/2008 18:57

i likea bit of chocolate in the bathdivine

Aitch · 11/03/2008 19:00

oh yes, we have a fairly large bath so the whole family gets in. it was such fun when dd was teeny.

nannyL · 11/03/2008 20:41

imagine this.... my old job

they bought a LOVELY farm house (a holiday home) in the middle of no where (and the farm to go with it) before they did it up there was 1 bathroom and 1 (indoor) toilet (in a room off of the bathroom)

we also had an ANCIENT hot water system so in order to even get a bath / use dishwasher / washing machine we had a VERY strict way of the very limited hot water using water...

BETWEEN US we had

1 bath of water in the morning
then washing machine
an early bath (needed to be run by 4.30pm)
a later bath (not as hot but warmish) about 7.30 pm

then dishwasher on after supper... 10.00pm ish...

there were often 2 or even 3 families sharing this hot water, so 5 - 7 adults and 6+ children...

so yes then we ALL HAD to share baths...

given that it was a working farm we would all do lots of farm work and the children would often get VERY muddy!

basically 4+ dirty people would share most of the baths...

(oh and it was fine, we all (me included as the nanny) had a GREAT time...)

also the rule was while in the bathroom, any children / same sex adults could just walk through the bathroom to the loo room and use the loo... with so many people and only 1 loo there really was no other way to do it...

and yes this was in the 21st century!

nannyL · 11/03/2008 20:43

just to add once they had 'done it up' there were many more bathrooms / shower rooms / indoor loos (i had my own one) and we also had a new hot water system so hot water wasnt nearly so limited!

expatinscotland · 11/03/2008 20:45

it's a good thing you are British, nanny, because there's no way on this Earth you could have gotten most N. Americans and I've venture to guess a fair number of W. Europeans to put up with conditions like that.

expatinscotland · 11/03/2008 20:49

nannyL · 11/03/2008 20:51

expat... most of the time i made sure i was 1st in the bath (i would typically get the 4.30pm bath (so yes i would bath in the middle of the day but at least i was clean)
