"DO NOT SPEAK TO THEM

LEAVE THEM TO STEW IN OWN JUICE "

These instructions also are useful to the partners of teachers. Second night on the trot I am in bed for 6pm.

Cappuccino · 03/09/2008 18:02

what does 'good' mean tho?

it's like 'behave'

it's just a word without a meaning, like saying 'please be blinp'

FabioFlangeCat · 03/09/2008 18:05

How was school?
Dunno.
Waht did you do?
Nothing.
Who did you play with?
NObody.
Did you eat all your lunch?

What did you do in the classroom?
Can't remember.
Well, did you have a nice day or what?
WAAAAAHHHH! Stop nagging me!

twinsetandpearls · 03/09/2008 18:06

My dd has never done the tired after school thing, we still live in hope though.

GetOrfMoiLand · 03/09/2008 18:10

dd has just gone into year 8 and she has come home this evening knackered - has been lying on the sofa asleep now for 2 hours. So it's not just reception kids!

Mind you, it's probably the exhaustion and sheer shock of getting up at 7 o'clock after six weeks of lying in!

CountessDracula · 03/09/2008 18:32

Anyway you are a bunch of lightweights compared to me
I not only have first day of term with child who is awake til 11pm but it is also her birthday

11pm??????

I'm not up at 11pm.

What's her bedtime drink, an espresso?

Imnotok · 03/09/2008 18:51

DD has just gine back in y1 and is knackered ,falling asleep on my knee at 6pm and wanting to be babied again.

They may also develop mystery illnesses such as falling off legs on the way into school in the morning which vanish as soon as they see their friends .

CountessDracula · 03/09/2008 18:53

Nope!
She goes to bed at 8pm and she reads in bed or plays, often until 9.30 and sometimes til 11!

She wakes at a normal time and is not stroppy or tired seeming or grumpy

It is most irritating

Mercy · 03/09/2008 18:57

Other things which may happen

Major snack attacks after school, get used to the constant "I'm hungry"

Be prepared for lots of colds and other bugs (ie, days off if you work). Get the multi-vitamins in now.

oh my, I'm so looking forward to my twins starting reception tomorrow

Gobbledigook · 03/09/2008 19:34

ds3 went in waving happily - no tears here!

Mind you, the often kick in after a few days so maybe I'd better wait and see.

Gobbledigook · 03/09/2008 19:34

CD - that's ds1. Bizarre isn't it?

notnowbernard · 03/09/2008 19:37

DD1 starts reception in 2 weeks

I suspect she is going to be of the prone-position on sofa variety

She is knackered after a morning at nursery sometimes, and only does 3 mornings

Still falls asleep in the car regularly

And goes to bed between 6.30 and 7

pgwithnumber3 · 03/09/2008 19:39

Do our wonderful children still have tantrums the first week of a new term no matter what Year they are in? DD1 has just started Year 1 and the carry on before because she wanted a second packet of crisps resembled a sketch from Monty Python.

When she started reception last year I used to have to take a picnic basket full of food for her to have in the car on the way home (twas an hour's journey).

cheesesarnie · 03/09/2008 19:40

fantastic warning cod.

so true,so true.

notnowbernard · 03/09/2008 19:43

Little girl upstairs starting Y1 tommorow at this moment being shouted at by her Mum

There is whingeing-a-plenty

I can hear every word

pgwithnumber3 · 03/09/2008 19:44

notnowbernard, that is the reason we soundproofed our Semi!

memoo · 03/09/2008 19:47

And don't believe everything you DC tells you when they come home from school.

I'm a ta in reception class, one parent came in to complain because DD had told her that she wasn't given any snack even though I was giving her toast, fruit and milk every snack time!

Little kids lie!!

notnowbernard · 03/09/2008 19:48

How did you do it?

pgwithnumber3 · 03/09/2008 19:51

When we renovated the whole house needed plastering so DH (is VERY handy) built a wood frame on the adjoining wall (we did lose half a foot of room but large rooms so worth it) and you fill it with soundproofing stuff! It was then boarded up with plasterboard and plastered over. Biggish job but with him doing it himself, it saved us a fortune.

notnowbernard · 03/09/2008 19:58

It's the neighbours upstairs who we can hear. They are noisy shaggers too. Can get down to it anytime day or night, I quite often find myself leading the dds out from one room to another to avoid embarrassing questions

Oh well

pgwithnumber3 · 03/09/2008 20:05

Oh sorry to disappoint you that it wasn't a dead easy job! You will have to put up with the porn stars for a while longer then...
