Now she tells me, 6 years too late...

cornsilk · 03/09/2008 17:00

no, 5 actually. still too late.

Beetroot · 03/09/2008 17:01

and if you ask them want they have done al day they will say nothing - this does not mean they ahve done nothing it means they are knackered

AND nursery is for playing not for preparing you for school - that is what reception is for

this applies to any year btw, not just reception

and to me, but no-one feeds me and leaves me alone

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/09/2008 17:02

This is what I do with DH when he comes home from work.

Yes it definitely applies to me. I need to be left with coffee, chocolate and the PC for at least an hour after work until I vaguely feel nice enough to speak to anyone.

FabioFlangeCat · 03/09/2008 17:04

Oh God yes.

No after school clubs and that until after Christmas and only if you're very brave. Best save till Summer term if not y1.

The television is your friend.

Fud on the way home - you will need to up the treat status of said fud as the week goes on. In fact, on Friday just inject e-numbers and pour Froot Shoots in their eyes.

Tears, screaming and sleeping on sofa mandatory.

All the above applies to children as well as fish parents.

You haven't given me enough chocolate.
Of all the bits of me to get bit.
Just wait until I see that mouse polar bear.

Mercy · 03/09/2008 17:08

I remember you saying that when my dd had just started Reception.

You were right. I will be doing the same with ds soon.

filthymindedvixen · 03/09/2008 17:08

Make friends with the uber-organised bossy mum in the playground as soon as possible. She will save your life.
Your child will lose all notes/letters home and this mum will know everything so you can ring her on a weekly basis to ask ''what are we supposed to bring for harvest festival again?/when is parent's evening/which children should I avoid inviting to Algernon's party as they are little horrors who will scream for 2 hours before throwing up all over me...'' etc etc.

ronshar · 03/09/2008 17:11

Yep just feed and leave.
I wish I had known that 4 years ago as well.

moodlumthehoodlum · 03/09/2008 17:11

ds has come home this afternoon after 1st afternoon at pre-school in a dreadful mood. There was a fight between him and dd even before they had got through the door.

And dd starts reception tomorrow.

thanks for the warning.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/09/2008 17:12

Unless you happen to have my children - who come out of school bursting with supressed energy and talking nineteen to the dozen and who need to be fed then taken to the park and have sticks thrown for them like retriever puppies until they burn it off enough to come home and flop. I used to eb SO JEALOUS of mums with the ones who just wanted to suck theri thumbs in front of cbeebies!

seeker - that's where DS is right now - sucking his thumb in front of cbeebies. He's been OK so far, but I did feed him and DD chocolate in the car as soon as they came out. Am braced for tantrums later.
