Wow, 4.30!

I thought dd going to bed at 6 was good going.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 03/09/2008 17:18

How many years should you be leaving them to stew? I hoping 20

misdee · 03/09/2008 17:19

this is carried on well into juniors for us.

dd1 is not allowed out to play tonight after this morning shenagians about getting out of bed (mine went back to school yesterday). hence tears abnd sulks galore. dh is cooking their tea, soon as they are finished, they are all having baths (except dd3, unless i can find a way to waterproof her hand), and getting ready for bed. i forgot what a moo dd1 can be when she is tired.

moodlumthehoodlum · 03/09/2008 17:19

if my dc slept from 4.30-7am I thrilled.

bring it on. forewarned is forearmed. Snacks in car. TV on when home.

I'm ready. But should I wear Ugg cardy boots to do this all in or not?

Anchovy · 03/09/2008 17:19

Oh yes indeedy.

Throughout his entire life DS (now nearly 7)has been the most easy going, good natured, even tempered, sunny child imaginable. But during that first term at school we used to get volcanic meltdowns before bed time because he was so completely drained. It did get much better after the first term.

You can imagine how much I am looking forward to DD starting reception tomorrow who even at the best of times is Very Cross Indeed.

CountessDracula · 03/09/2008 17:20

AHEM
Mine didn't do this at all
everyone said

ohhh when she goese to school she will be exhausted

fat bloody chance

PERFICK?????

WAHT ARE YOU ON ABOUT

you can have my child that only needs 9 or 10 hours a night
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

bundle · 03/09/2008 17:23

has this kicked off yet

misdee · 03/09/2008 17:24

dd2 wasnt like this, and isnt. but dd1 is a miserable moo who needs 12hours sleep minimum. which is hard to co-ordinate with the time she needs to get up and the time she wants to go to bed.

Mercy · 03/09/2008 17:24

Anchovy, my ds is awful when he's tired - shouty, aggressive, clingy.

His class has a 3 week phasing in but I'm sure the tiredness will really kick in when he goes full-time. His little friend still has an afternoon nap most days so god knows how he will cope.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 03/09/2008 17:26

so does still apply the week after? the second week of school dd1's dancing school starts again.

they will be preparing for the x mas show and she is desperate to be in it more than she was last year so she must go to all classes.

any tips so i dont have her crying all the way/collaspsing in the dance hall/pushing over the little girl in front of her because she is in a mood.

JoolsToo · 03/09/2008 17:27

none of mine did it - that I can recall.

I can't see dgs3 being sparko at 5 o'clock either but I may be wrong ....

ds starts swimming lessons again next week
that'll be fun

BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/09/2008 17:30

I am so not warning you school newbies about the Christmas term exhausted children falling asleep during Christmas play / sobbing with tiredness from the end of November untill end of term / growth spurt exactly one week after half term so you kick yourself for not buying the bigger sizes when they were available in the shops in August

[evil]

EustaciaVye · 03/09/2008 17:31

Interesting. I need to wait and see what happens.

snottynoses · 03/09/2008 17:38

can they do things at the weekend

themildmanneredstalker · 03/09/2008 17:39

misdee-i reccommend limbo products

customer service excellent. product good for price.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 03/09/2008 17:49

oh god!! i am not looking forward to next week. do you think a "please be good and i will buy you those new silver tap shoes you have wanted for ages?" will work?

Fimbo · 03/09/2008 17:56

They will also tell you they played with no-one. That"s also another load of bolleux.

My ds will be happy to go at first, then get bored.

smoggie · 03/09/2008 17:57

mine (5.5 and 3.5) in front of playhouse Disney as we speak. ds2 pyjamas on in front of TV(1st day at pre-school), ds2 about to be dressed for bed too. Story, bed lights out by 6.30 I reckon!!!

FabioFlangeCat · 03/09/2008 18:00

Just shovel in the flapjacks and Haribo.

Saying 'please be good' to children before they are bad can be like asking for trouble.

Wait until she hasn't been madly tired and then say you're getting the shoes because she's been so good.

Weekends: write off Saturday morning, no big outings on sunday and bed early.

Cappuccino · 03/09/2008 18:01

dd2 (3.9) has spent the last hour jumping on top of me and dd1 while we were trying to watch a film

can I send her to school a year early? I would v much like her to be asleep right now
