332 children didn't get a place at secondary school in Hackney this year...

This is not just children who didn't get a place in their first choice school, mark you - this is children who didn't get a place at all.

I feel very despondent about this. DS1 is in Year 4 so we don't have much time to ponce about with this. I really don't want to move but I am starting to think we are mad to stay .

OMG, bundle, is distinct possibility!

SixSpotBurnet · 27/03/2008 13:18

And that reminds me - I haven't returned your DS's books .

SixSpotBurnet · 27/03/2008 13:19

You could be right about Stokey, SixSpot, BUT havea friend whose ds is there and he is a real chess geek (plays for england, I think).

And the other kids think he is UBER cool.

Porpoise · 27/03/2008 13:20

GET-TOGETHERS?

bundle · 27/03/2008 13:20

i think stokey has lots of little "groups"

my boss's son is doing his gcse's there - he's a bit skatery, into some science and wants to do politics, music, all sorts really

bundle · 27/03/2008 13:21

6spotburnett, are you someone else?

SixSpotBurnet · 27/03/2008 13:21

Wow!

Actually, I am kidding. I'd give my right arm for DS1 to get a place there . And DS2 (a luvvie through and through) would adore it.

SixSpotBurnet · 27/03/2008 13:24

OP posts:
frogs · 27/03/2008 13:24

Porpoise, CAT me and I'll add you in.

Tho' we may need a change of venue as I'm currently confined to base with badly broken leg. By end April will be going stir-crazy tho'.

Bink · 27/03/2008 13:25

Well, because I haven't been asked to Yum Yum then I WANT THOSE BOOKS BACK NOW

SixSpotBurnet · 27/03/2008 13:25

Frogs? Leg? Leg??

SixSpotBurnet · 27/03/2008 13:26

Bink, would you really be prepared to trek to Stokey on a midweek night? We'd be thrilled to have you! (And I could give you the books back...)

OP posts:
bundle · 27/03/2008 13:26

frogs, oh no, how did that happen?

frogs · 27/03/2008 13:27

Oh, it's YOU....

Yes, leg. Tibia, fibula and bit of knee joint. Lots of tiny pieces. Wouldn't recommend it. Week in the Whittington off my head on controlled drugs, now thankfully at home, shuffling between bed and bathroom.

SixSpotBurnet · 27/03/2008 13:27

What??? Oh no!! How??

OP posts:
bundle · 27/03/2008 13:29

shit that sounds baaadd
am doing prog on knees, they're tricky blighters

frogs · 27/03/2008 13:31

Came off my bike in the Archway Rd. Not a scenic venue, but thankfully close to a range of high-quality medical facilities.

Tho' being an in-patient at the Whittington is something else. I knew it was time to get out when I hopped to the bathroon in the middle of the night to find that it reeked of smoke and the basin was full of ash. After an exciting day listening to the lady next door playing daytime TV all day, overlaid with the lady on the otherside playing 'Only Fools and Horses' DVDs all day, and the girl opposite playing rap on her mobile with all her mates.

Farkin' hell.

bundle · 27/03/2008 13:33

shit frogs, wish I'd known, could have brought you something noisy to drown them out! x
