I don’t think there is any evidence that Ofsted improve schools.

If only OFSTED did ANYTHING about trying to improve schools. Then that could be helpful and supportive. However, they don't.

HMI used to. They came in to support HTs when schools needed support. OFSTED don't. They go through their ticklist, make all staff feel like shit, and bugger off. There is NO help and NO support.

Oh, and they come in with an agenda, not an open mind.

Well quite.

It makes my blood boil. It is a purely negative organisation masquerading as one with a purpose of improving education.

Ofsted have lost all credibility following the release of the inspection notes from Michaela. How there hasn't been uproar about it I do not know. There is no way based on those notes they should have gotten an Outstanding judgement. It's disgraceful.

It's devastating reading about Ruth Perry's inquest. The inspector sounds like he was revelling in the power he held over her. That he could sweep in and end her career - and tragically, her life, - based on a two day visit is unthinkable. There needs to be more accountability of Ofsted itself. My heart breaks for that poor woman and her family.

By ending her career, I mean that in grading the school as inadequate she was facing a forced conversion to academy status and the loss of her job, I don't think I was clear there.
