hi everyone, i wanted to start a new thread with a NEW topic heading here, as the active one at the moment with over 700 posts looks like it is all about the Cambridge school. This may confuse newcomers.

Let's continue the debate here !
All newcomers welcome !

I will shortly link our two previous threads on MN for any one new to have a look at.

Davy, could you also give a link to your new yahoo list here please ? Thanks.

OP posts:
slim22 · 03/03/2008 12:29

Blimey! can't believe these threads are still going strong.
Aren't you exhausted?

northernrefugee39 · 03/03/2008 12:31

Daniel Hindes discussion about Steiner might be tad biased:

"Daniel attended the Rudolf Steiner School in New York City, and was an exchange student at a Waldorf School in Germany. After college and four years in the US Army as a Russian translator, he studied Anthroposophy in Germany for two years. He has been systematically studying the works of Rudolf Steiner for over a decade....
an MS in Waldorf Education from Sunbridge College. Currently he is a teacher of history at the high school of the Waldorf School of Garden City in New York."

Not perhaps as critically distanced from the nonsense as , say , Peter Staudenmaier.

northernrefugee39 · 03/03/2008 12:32

Slim- no!

I'd really miss them!

And the more they go on, the more madness is discovered about Steiner and the education.

Did you know man evolved as a jelly on the moon and had a cosmic naval cord?

northernrefugee39 · 03/03/2008 12:33

eva/sune, do you want to start a Defending Daniel Hindes site?

northernrefugee39 · 03/03/2008 12:34

Or a Defending Defending Steiner site?

slim22 · 03/03/2008 12:40

rofl

Well at least now I know where to look for a good laugh!

Keep the quotes coming Northernrefuge.

Tutter · 03/03/2008 13:06

cripes

i have a degree. i don't think i'm stupid

but on here and on the countless links i just get words

shedloads of em

and i understand nowt of what they're telling me

i like bullet points

VictorianSqualor · 03/03/2008 13:10

Exactly Tutter.
I have been given so many links and so far have come to this opinion.

Wardolf/Steiner thingys are schools that claim to do things better, by waiting to teach reading, taking away black crayons and doing emotional stuff.

They have a liking of gnomes, which apparently you see if you're good or something, if not then you're not good at it.

Some people reckon it's a hidden agenda cult-like thingy behind the scenes and don't like it. Eva may or may not be a swedish man that likes steiner and links the normal stuff.

People that have been there or worked there have exposed their weird ideas about the moon and lettuces.

I think I've got it so far.

AMumInScotland · 03/03/2008 13:14

Could I make a point as a disinterested outsider here please? (I Home Educate, so have no interest either way in Steiner schools).

Although your stated aim further up the thread is to warn other parents about the reality and dangers of Steiner Waldorf education, this thread actually gives the impression of being an ongoing private argument between two group of people, which is currently being carried out on Mumsnet but has no real interest in communicating with the parents here.

If you genuinely want to communicate with the rest of the parents on Mumsnet, and not just each other, you are not going about it in a very effective manner. You could perhaps put as much effort into responding to other posters as you do into arguing with each other, and then we might begin to understand your point.

Just a suggestion.

slim22 · 03/03/2008 13:14

VS look no further you've got the main points.

AMumInScotland · 03/03/2008 13:15

Sorry, Xposted Tutter & VS

VictorianSqualor · 03/03/2008 13:17

Have I really slim?
Yes! Success!
I've been here for HOURS trying to work this out.

northernrefugee39 · 03/03/2008 13:20

AMum, there have, as you may or may not have twigged, been a number of threads about Steiner education going on, this is one of MANY.

On previous ones, a great many people came on, and found out about what Steiner schools were really about.

I'm sorry that it has degenerated to the petty squabbles that it has.

The male 60 year old anthroposophist who calls himself eva, has a num,ber of websites and too much time on his hands.

He stalks critics aroundn the internet, with different names, trying to divert people from the truth behind Steiner education.

northernrefugee39 · 03/03/2008 13:23

Slim you asked for it.....

?If the blonds and blue-eyed people die out, the human race will become increasingly dense...Blond hair actually bestows intelligence. In the case of fair people, less nourishment is driven into the eyes and hair; it remains instead in the brain and endows it with intelligence. Brown- and dark-haired people drive the substances into their eyes and hair that the fair people retain in their brains."

?On one side we find the black race, which is earthly at most. If it moves to the West, it becomes extinct. We also have the yellow race, which is in the middle between earth and the cosmos. If it moves to the East, it becomes brown, attaches itself too much to the cosmos, and becomes extinct. The white race is the future, the race that is creating spirit.?

?In the head or in the brain, the human body is constantly falling apart.?

?Gnomes are...unable to grasp how there can be anything but an ineffectual relationship with [our] world.?

?It would be a mistake to view the lung as less spiritual than the nose.?

AMumInScotland · 03/03/2008 13:26

Fair enough, I'lll leave you to it then

slim22 · 03/03/2008 13:27

Seriously the core of the argument is that Steiner schools do not advertise anthroposophy as their educational textbook.

When parents realise (often after a few years) that it's not just a boho chic alternative to mainstream schooling but a quite loony philosophy, they feel duped.

So basically the antis (rightfully I think) cry foul because of the deception.
The pros just deny there is a hidden agenda.

SheikYerbouti · 03/03/2008 13:42

My eyes are bleeding

northernrefugee39 · 03/03/2008 13:43

Slim, that's well put.
And then one reads Steiner, and realises who at the schools are anthroposophists, and it all clicks into place.
You realise you.ve been lied to, more than "duped".
Eva/sune's websites, Waldorf answeers and all that bollocks, are just perpetuating the veil of secrecy, because they say nothing.

On an earlier thread, eva/ sune attempted to explain a lecture by Steiner about race and occult significance of blood [hmn]
He got his knickers in such a twist, he hasn't answered one question again.
All he does is link to sites that say nothing.

Or sites DEVOTED to trying to denounce historical, reasoned well researched information about Steiner.

Because if the jelly humans and the boiled lettuce ids widely known, they are up a creek without a paddle.

Blandmum · 03/03/2008 13:46

'It would be a mistake to view the lung as less spiritual than the nose.?

Farking nora!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PMSL! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nut job, BIG nut job.

Spiritual noses

Or lungs for that matter.

Words fail me

northernrefugee39 · 03/03/2008 13:47

"For an overview (based on ten years of experience) "

Lordy Lordy.
OOhh Eva/sune ten years experience. Wow.
It took you TEN years to write that drivel?

SheikYerbouti · 03/03/2008 13:48

"I want to be quoted"

northernrefugee39 · 03/03/2008 13:52

Well we're not going to quote you.
Only gnomes and jelly humans get quoted. Bleeding eyes aren't spritual enough.

SheikYerbouti · 03/03/2008 13:54

"spiritual bleeding eyes"

I'm not a gnome, but I used to be a walrus. Will that do?

SheikYerbouti · 03/03/2008 13:55

Anyway, you did quote me, indirectly

Nur nur!

northernrefugee39 · 03/03/2008 13:56

Reincarnation!

"I'm not a gnome, but I used to be a walrus. Will that do?"

Steineriffic!
