Shocked by hatred of kids & parents on TES website

I've spent a bit of time reading the TES website which contains threads and postings from teachers and I am stunned by the level of hatred and abuse directed towards students and their parents. I am horrified to think that some of these creatures may actually be teaching my kids!
It appears that the "state of war" we read about it British classrooms is by no means one way traffic - the teachers
seem to relish getting in on the all the drama.

Marjorie, I think you're right. It will be a struggle - DD2 is difficult (now I can understand TES members letting off steam there!) and we are in a beautiful village which makes travel to access town a pain and expensive (like you I have no transport) but I am sure that it will be worth it and unless the LA come up with a miracle to help DD2 can see that this is how it will pan out. DD1 is happy at school and is doing as well as the provision allows, wouldn't want to be HE now.

LC - you said, "Whatever happened to that alternative rebel parents centre? I hear that it only lasted for three months."

For one who is in such great denial you seem to know a remarkable amount about the Parentscentre website.

LucindaCarlisle · 20/07/2010 23:12

Someone sent me E-mails and private messages to say what a bun fight it had turned out to be.

Marjoriew · 20/07/2010 23:22

Valhalla, I just realized that life is too short to spend time dealing with schools etc. that won't listen.
Grandson is what is categorized as a 'looked after' child and the educational attainment statistics are not good.
I don't like labels being put on children unless it's absolutely necessary and unless it will have overall benefit for the child concerned.
The school grandson was at already had his card marked, so out he came.

Re: LC. I think it's better to ignore him.
He's like one of those kids that never shuts up and just can't get enough attention - even if it's usually negative.

Vallhala · 20/07/2010 23:48

"Valhalla, I just realized that life is too short to spend time dealing with schools etc. that won't listen."

Amen to that.

Back on topic, I can see WHY TES members complain as they do. After all, we moan on here and having teachers in the family I've a rough idea how they feel.

I can also see why people are offended by some of the comments. I'm a parent who has been lied to by a school. had their DC been put at risk of physical harm, had notes and witness statements in my favour "go missing" and had her child become subject to a school acting in a manner which is against the law. However, because of the "missing" records, which I fear might happen all over again, I am the one who is viewed as the difficult, problematic party. Anyone who has experienced similar situations or who is just merrily going about their business without incident ar school, might understandably be troubled by some of the harsh comments on TES.

Lucinda, there is no earthly reason why anyone on any forum would send you PM's or emails, simply because you were and are one of the most unpopular and spiteful individuals on the internet.
You have relentlessly stalked people - namely a teacher of 20 years standing and used both his and my real names [which you went to great effort to research] to post on the TES website.
You have also sent private messages to someone whom you thought was someone else naming this teacher and encouraging them to register under his real name. I have the proof.
Mumsnetters, be warned!

LucindaCarlisle · 21/07/2010 22:32

Not true.

LucindaCarlisle · 21/07/2010 22:37

I did not go to great effort to research. People have got to beware not to give too much information on internet forums. You cannot say that dialogue and conversation is stalking. Your behaviour is more analogous to stalking than mine is.

Marjoriew · 21/07/2010 22:41

Deliberately using the real names of people to post on internet forums is stalking in most people's books, whether information is available on the internet or not.
I think that your behaviour both here and on other forums where you are a member should be made public so that people can beware of you and take precautions accordingly.

Marjoriew · 21/07/2010 22:43

Furthermore, I have no intention of giving you any more attention which you so obviously crave.
I will leave others to form their opinions on the information given.

LucindaCarlisle · 21/07/2010 22:59

I did not do what you accuse me of doing.

In respect of one of those names it is one of the most common names in the UK.

Are you able to post a link to were you allege that those names remain on the internet.

Marjoriew. you yourself have sent private messages to the wrong recipients.

Marjoriew · 21/07/2010 23:04

Valhalla, I think teaching is like any other profession - there are bad apples in every walk of life.
I have met some excellent teachers and some horrendous ones.
Being up against a situation like yours is difficult for a parent, but more so for a child who looks to a teacher in a position of authority and trust.
You must stay strong for them and see it through so that your children can see that you have done your very best to resolve things, and that you, yourself feel you have supported your children, and they will love you the more for it.

LucindaCarlisle · 21/07/2010 23:18

Marjoriew. I am NOT the most unpopular person on the Internet. It is libellous of you to imply that I am.

I post on about thirty Forums, and it is only on one of them that you stalk me.

TheBestAManCanGet · 21/07/2010 23:20

How on earth does anyone have time to post on 30 forums?

Marjoriew · 21/07/2010 23:21

SO SUE ME!!!!!

Breton1900 · 22/07/2010 12:05

FACT: Education for its own sake is, in the main, no longer valued in our society. Why bother getting an education when you can be on television and maybe become a celebrity? This is the message being sold by the mass media - I recommend a very good documentary called Starsuckers (available on DVD) which examines this phenomenon.

At the end of the day both Nature and Nurture are involved in producing individuals. Some of the most vile and obnoxious brats I've ever encountered have not come from dysfunctional families on sink estates but from spoiled oiks who have been brought up to believe the sun shines out of their arse and have enough designer clothes and consumer durables to fill a small warehouse. In fact I've found quite a few kids from really horrendous backgrounds who are hard-working and who want to get an education because they see this as their escape route to a better life.

However, our society appears to have produced far too many "adults" who are immature kidults unable to cope with the most minor setbacks in their lives and who fly into temper tantrums when thwarted in any way whatsoever. Not surprising that with so many parents fitting that description, their kids are no different.

kris007 · 22/07/2010 19:47

Gosh I started this thread about 2 years ago and it's still going! Thankfully my daughter is now out of the UK education system. For the last 4 weeks of her prison term (and schools here are becoming more like prisons each day) she refused to wear any uniform. The school sent her home each day - she finally obtained a letter from an education attorney stating the school was legally obligated to allow her to take exams regardless of her attire. So she took exams, told her teachers to f off and never set foot in the damn place again. That's my girl.

I'm sure you are really proud of her

LucindaCarlisle · 22/07/2010 21:16

kris007. Well done to your little Angel.

kris007 · 22/07/2010 21:41

Indeed I am. She now attends McGill Uni in Montreal and her awful time at the Kent Correctional Institute is but a distant memory.

OP posts:
LucindaCarlisle · 22/07/2010 21:51

She will probably get a First class Honours degree.

Marjoriew. You are tieing yourself up in knots with your false accusations.

Two of your statements above are diametrically opposed to each other.

It is bad etiquette on your part to carry over your grudge from one Forum to another, and particularly when those events took place five years ago.

LucindaCarlisle · 23/07/2010 12:44

Marjoriew, you omitted to say that "the teacher" had bullied and been nasty to parents on another web forum.

Marjoriew · 23/07/2010 14:01

Any news, Valhalla?

Vallhala · 23/07/2010 22:00

Not yet, Marjorie.

It's ironic really. When I HE'd I lived in an area where the LA would bend over backwards to break the law, make all manner of demands and tell me that all "proposals" to HE must go before their panel to decide (cue me telling them it wasn't an effing proposal and I wasn;t asking them, I was telling them, or words to that effect!).

Now that the responsibility is upon an LA to educate, the obligations of the law seem to have slipped this particular LA's mind.

Time will tell.
