Shocked by hatred of kids & parents on TES website

I've spent a bit of time reading the TES website which contains threads and postings from teachers and I am stunned by the level of hatred and abuse directed towards students and their parents. I am horrified to think that some of these creatures may actually be teaching my kids!
It appears that the "state of war" we read about it British classrooms is by no means one way traffic - the teachers
seem to relish getting in on the all the drama.

No -you are not imagining it, Riven. Teachers are overloaded with work which is why they moan.
It has just been suggested to a young teacher with a 3 yr old and a baby that she ought to try and get into school at 6am!! This was said by the new Head who gets in at that time!

When I've postyed a complaint on a forum - I always appreciate hearing the other side of the arguement, it helps me gain an understanding of what teachers have to deal with.
I noticed that on the "confessions" thread when anyone countered their view they got ripped to shreds. Referring to children as retards, tards and thickos, I'm appalled - shame on them.

One poster on TES has the user name BelleDuJour and did have the avatar of a scantily dressed woman. There is an excessive amount of bullying on the TES site
They call new posters "Trolls"

The language used by some of the female teachers is unacceptable.

mollyroger · 02/03/2010 08:34

this thread is 2 years old, why has it been resurrected? I came face to face with an old posting persona of mine and nearly had a fit

LucindaCarlisle · 02/03/2010 08:36

It appears at times as though the moderators on TES collude with the leader of the bullies on the site to hound off the site genuine NEW posters.

LucindaCarlisle · 02/03/2010 08:38

Mollyroger, Someone on TES has posted a link to this thread, so TES members have come over here to read it.

McSnail · 02/03/2010 08:42

Yep. I use TES AND Mumsnet, and saw the link over there. Tbh, there's nothing on here that's particularly awful and most people who responded to the related thread on TES have shrugged it off. Hey-ho.

mollyroger · 02/03/2010 08:42

''The language used by some of the female teachers is unacceptable. ''
so it is ok for a male teacher to swear then?

And that's a bit rich coming from a user of MN where we are also not adverse to a few well chosen expletives!

mollyroger · 02/03/2010 08:44

any of you teachers want a nice biccie?

LucindaCarlisle · 02/03/2010 08:46

The behaviour and language of the female teachers over there is much worse than that used by the males.

McSnail · 02/03/2010 08:51

Chocolate digestive thanks, Molly.

McSnail · 02/03/2010 08:51

Lucinda - stop being such a cunt.

yeah, that's kind of my point lucinda - bad langauge is bad language, it's irrelevant whether it comes out of the mouths of a male or a female.

you are sounding a bit prissy.
And you are making me defend the fuckers!

mollyroger · 02/03/2010 09:03

Riven, I am deliberatley not looking, because I know the sort of things they will be saying. I have an ex-friend who is a teacher who couldn't seem to see that tacking ''no offence'' on the the end of every rant about ''Spes-hul needs brats'' wasn't going to make me feel any better . Especially because she worked at my son's school........

LucindaCarlisle · 02/03/2010 09:03

They only use bad language because they are uneducated and inarticulate. They use bad language to threaten parents.

McSnail · 02/03/2010 09:04

QUOTE'I noticed that on the "confessions" thread when anyone countered their view they got ripped to shreds. Referring to children as retards, tards and thickos, I'm appalled - shame on them.'

In the six years I've been using TES, I have NEVER seen children referred to as retards or 'tards. Not once. Anyone who used that language (I remember a whole thread about a certain word which is slang for a type of disability) where some posters were quite rightly shot down in flames for even condoning it's use, let alone USING it.

McSnail · 02/03/2010 09:06

And I think I'm going to have to leave the thread now, as otherwise I'll end up on here for hours, defending teachers in general. Ah well.

mollyroger · 02/03/2010 09:07

to inspire and educate all inarticulate foul-fouthed teachers who may be reading...

you fawning, fat-kidneyed bum-baileys!

Kathyjelly · 02/03/2010 09:07

The stats are really bad, something like 25% of teachers being attacked by a parent or pupil. No wonder they feel the need to vent some spleen.

My sister teaches in a little rural infants school and even there she was pinned to the wall by the throat by a father who's son had been removed from a class for attacking another pupil. It took 4 people to drag him off. They had to call the police

She's no woos, loves teaching and didn't take any time off work but she cried down the phone to me for almost an hour she was so scared. And she has 22 years experience.

So while I realise most people wouldn't dream of lashing out, there is a fair proportion that do. That's why hospitals and job centres have bouncers.

mollyroger · 02/03/2010 09:08

McSnaily - take some jaffa cakes for the staffrooom! [biscuits]

rainfatclouds · 02/03/2010 09:08

Are you accusing someone of lying, McSnail.

You might not remember it but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

rainfatclouds · 02/03/2010 09:11

molly

LucindaCarlisle · 02/03/2010 09:11

Many children with a disability or special educational needs are badly treated by the system. Sometimes children with SEN are treted with great cruelty in school.
