How much would you pay?- PTA wreath making

I'm just wanting to gauge what would be a reasonable amount to charge per head for a Christmas wreath making evening? It's a fundraiser for our primary school PTA. I don't make any profit and would provide all the supplies necessary- all profits go to the PTA. The participants just turn up (mulled wine, fizz and mince pies are available for a donation).

I have attached a photo of the wreath I made last year to give you an idea of what people will come away with (excuse my child's blocked out face!).

My question is what would you be willing to pay for an event like this at school? Has anyone's school held an evening like this before and what was the charge per head? Thanks.

There's such a variation across different areas!

I've just booked in at the local farm to make a Christmas wreath the same as last year £45 we get a glass or two of prosecco and a mince pie. It's all sustainable products = no wires, willow wreath etc. This price is pretty similar to other places in our area (midlands).

@SleeptightDaisy that’s stunning. I was a bit disappointed with mine. Was £35

As an alternative.. our pta get parents to volunteer to make the wreathes to sell at the Christmas fair. I’ve not done it before but they seem to meet up, have some bubbly and have a nice time doing it. The wreathes then seem to go for between £25-40 and that might be a way of increasing your profit.

I love that idea, but I think there's parents who want the workshop and that's why I've been asked.

No, don’t have a picture, haven’t made this years yet 😁
that’s what it costs me, I source everything from our gardens (have 4 varieties of Holly alone) and re-use cones/bows etc. 🤷‍♀️
I’m a bit shocked at what people are saying florists charge, tbh. Maybe I’m missing a trick.

AdelaideRo · 25/09/2022 12:53

I was going to say £40-50 for the workshop (but I would expect the wine/ mince pie included at that price!). I'm London based so used to paying ££.

I think if you charge under £25 you are undervaluing yourself.

Autumnterm · 25/09/2022 19:44

That wreath looks very good - they sell them round here for £50 min.

But knowing how funny people get about things, maybe try £20 for the workshop.

But it's not just what it costs in materials - it's time and expertise as well. Just because the greenery comes from the OPs garden/nearby there's still the time it will take her to collect and prepare it all.

Obviously florists running workshops also have to cover overheads and make a profit.

I’ve just seen a hotel advertise a very similar one for £70 Grin

Appletreelady · 26/09/2022 08:16

Agreed LoveBluey. I am slightly dubious about the £3 wreath that looks a similar standard to the one pictured. Shame there's no photographs of such a creation to inspire us all 😁

Design a smaller one. It’s ‘worth’ £49/£50 - but I’d cringe to pay more than £25 for a school event
