Brit School 2022

Any of riding the Brit School 2022 application process. Dd is through to interview for music KS4. It’s beginning to feel like it could actually happen but also feeling very far away if that makes sense. How about you?

I think it’s a long shot for music even in catchment. By my estimation they probably auditioned/ interviewed 120-130 or so kids for 25 places and having already culled twice after application and online auditions tapes. They have all done so well to reach this stage. I am 🤞 for you and all the other frayed nerve parents and kids waiting to hear.

We were told at interview that MT over subscribed so much that they culled outside catchment and interview answers, apparently not had to do that before ... the wait

To be honest this is their lives in this job forever… waiting for the casting.. waiting for the recall… waiting for the big one ! As parents we’ve going through this for Sao long, this is the one she has to get Smile

We’re waiting on the art strand for KS4. Will be 4 weeks tomorrow since workshop/meeting. Trying unsuccessfully not to stress.

Interesting to hear. I wonder if covid and home learning as well as this being a massive birth year has influenced levels of applications.

There's going to be some difficult moments on this thread when (in all likelihood) some of us don't get the news we'd hoped for. I'm happy to hear straight away from those who were successful (and to know the wait is coming to an end!) so from my pov do please post your news, good or bad - don't hold back for fear of upsetting.

So pleased to have found this thread, we have been waiting to hear too. My DD interviewed on the 2nd March for Theatre. Fingers crossed and the best of luck to all.

Welcome @MangoMamma and others to the waiting room 😂.

Agree @Duffydoodle that it will be tough as many of them won’t get a place this year but agree we are all up for celebrating those that do. I also know of several kids who did not get in at 14 (in part because Brit felt they were happy where they were) who did later get in at 16 so I don think rejection now is a no no if that makes sense.

Wish they would just let us know though. A friend emailed the office and has been told now that decisions will come through 4-6 weeks from interview/audition so I guess we may have a few days more this year than usual.

Weirdly this process has helped my dd connect with more like minded kids at her school. She didn’t know when we applied but does now that there are 6 of them from her year group who have been for interviews/ workshops etc for different strands (and these are only the ones we have found out about). We are state comp in catchment but not near by so we were quite surprised.

Hi all....just wanted to let you know we got our email this morning...not the news we wanted - DD did not get a place but is on reserve list (Dance strand) really hoping it's not the end of the road and that a place does come up...we know she has done so well to get this far and being out of catchment is against her....good luck to you all I hope you hear soon and get a place xx

Hey we got our reply today for MT strand. We have been put on the reserve list. Does anyone know if we can find out where we are on list? Also is anyone going appeal? Well done to everyone who has been successful so far x

That’s an amazing achievement - well done! I’ve heard of many getting in from the reserve. Can I ask if this was 14+ or 16+? Also are you in catchment? Thank you xx

Massive well done to you guys too. It's a huge achievement to get this far. We are not in the catchment area. We live about an hr and half away. My daughter is going for post 16 x

We are out of catchment too and post 16...I did email and ask about the likelihood of getting a place from reserve list and it does happen - they can't tell you how many or where you are on the list though.....got everything crossed for all us reserves! x

Well done, reserve list is a massive achievement!!! We're doing this for the first time, so no idea about likelihoods or success of appeals but keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you guys. No news at this end, KS4 too.

I was hoping your messages might mean the KS4 results were coming out. Still no news.

Good luck with reserve list movement and appeals if you go for them.

Think the KS4 results are finally starting to come out. Dd says friends applying for dance and theatre are hearing right now. 🤞🤞🤞
