Arriving to school in games kit - what does your child's school do?

My DC currently have to wear their games kit on the days they have games, which is the days out of five.

The school's uniform policy states that the children must arrive at school wearing their jogging bottoms (with their shorts underneath) as well as their tracksuit top. They will not allow them to arrive at school in their games shorts even in this warm weather. They are then told once they arrive at school whether or not they're allowed to remove their tracksuit top and/or bottoms.

When they are in their smart dress, which they would be in five days a week, were it not for the pandemic, they are allowed to arrive at school in their smart shorts.

Just wondering if your child's school makes your children arrive in their tracksuit top and tracksuit bottoms if they now have to go to school wearing their games kit some days?

Just trying to gain some perspective, so would really appreciate your thoughts. Thank you!

That's not just crazy, I'd say it's actively damaging. In hot weather, children walking or running or cycling or scootering to school will get very hot and uncomfortable indeed. Last week it was already 24 degrees and blazing sunshine on our 1.2 mile walk to school. And that's only June. My dd went in her cycling shorts and a lightweight white Tshirt, with a slick of suncream and a sun hat.

I simply would not send my child in the joggers and sweater on hot days, it is stupid. I'd send a note, every day, apologising they are in the laundry. And ignore complaints from the school on the topic.

Any black bottoms, a white t-shirt and a mostly black jumper (optional in heat!).

My DD and quite a few other girls still wearing black leggings as they don't like being in shorts all day. They are Yr5. The younger ones all wear shorts.
