Dyslexia........have meeting with SENCO on Monday......

DS had screening test last week ..managed to nab his teacher in the playground yesterday who said, off the record, he is moderately dyslexic, but the test also showed up some other surprising things....she couldn;t really discuss, which is fair enough , as we were in the playground...

but what other things might have been picked up on? Meeting not until Monday, and I am a little anxious

he is also colour blind and is numerically dyslexic too!

so his screening test said high risk of dyslexia, with severe problems with phonological stuff..ie alliteration and rhyming...some short term memory issues....

is now being referred to ed psych and occupational therapist, due to some sort of perceptual issue...

has already got a coloured reading ruler, which he says has helped , as the words are no longer moving around...interestingly, my DH finds it helpful too !!

i am amazed at how on the ball the school are, I have every confidence that they will take this in hand and he won;t slip ..

also said he is very very bright, which is also nice to hear and that is the reason he is able to maintain a fairly average to good position in class...

so, not doom and gloom at all
