If so how is he different- I was talking to my dh over the weekend and telling him he didn't need to clear his plate , he wasn't still at boarding school and he said it had nothing to do with boarding school but just good manners . there is no food he doesn't like and I'm sure that's because he was always starving. he also always makes the bed in the morning as he's getting out of it practically. just wondered if anyone else got experience of this?

oh no Countess, was just mad debutantes with coke habits (not me, I was VERY sensible, I was school genius as got two A grades at o'level, which was an achievement because we weren't ever taught anything very much).
Oh no, one boy turned up one year from Hong Kong. Poor thing. He was in the sixth form. His name was George. I don't know if he ever recovered.

But - forgot to say - feet off floor rule didn't apply to pupils - hence several 6th form pregnancies and the school no longer exists !

CountessDracula · 11/06/2007 16:08

hmm
my bro not called George

Icod

The school should advertise that in their prospectus

"hell in hertford"

No risk of childhood obesity at your place then?

Another bonus

Sunningsomething? No mine is closed down now. An ex-head from St Pauls Girls was parachuted in to see if she could save it, she only lasted a few months and declared it Utterly Awful and it was shut down.

policywonk · 11/06/2007 16:11

Not Summerhill - that's still going. And is co-ed.

Quattrocento · 11/06/2007 16:12

Yup girls in studies at breaks

Hence not wearing knickers in lessons

As it saved time getting them off during breaks (morning break being only 15 minutes long)

IntergalacticWalrus · 11/06/2007 16:12

An old boyfriend of mine went to Downside.

He has some serious ishoos, although I'm not sure how much of it can be put down to the fact that he was as mad as a box of ffrogs or how much of it can be put down to his schooling.

MrsBadger · 11/06/2007 16:13

Downside oftne = high box-of-frogs quotient

much more form ones wheo were in the cadets there than the ones who weren't

PinkMartini · 11/06/2007 16:13

Summerhill - that's the one I was thinking 100 went to - there was a documentary on it which IIRC was basically about someone's pet rabbit getting mexamatosis....

policywonk · 11/06/2007 16:14

Some educationalists think Summerhill is A Good Thing.

But I really don't know much about it, so please don't offer me outside.

ahundredtimes · 11/06/2007 16:15

Noooo didn't go there. That one has a 'philosophy' we just had a geography teacher who sold speed and an unusual dress code.

scatterbrain · 11/06/2007 16:18

My dh had a geography teacher with a small dog. Small dog went everywhere with teacher and had a major heart problem - would preiodically collapse and geog teacher would calmy perform CPR whilst continuing to teach !

That was way cool ! And he was a man - a man multitasking !!! Shame he didn't teach dh that particular skill !

My geography teacher had a hairy chin and wet patches under her arms - I often think I am turning into her !

TheodoresMummy · 11/06/2007 20:29

C'mon 100times, pleeeeeease tell us where you went to school.....

bootsmonkey · 11/06/2007 20:45

My two brothers and my father went to Downside. 2/3 box of frogs quotient there.

sauce · 11/06/2007 21:56

Dh's dad went to Downside. But dh went to Amplebosom.

DrNortherner · 11/06/2007 21:58

My dh went to Boarding school and is a clean freak who hates clutter. He inhales his meals in 3 seconds flat.

Never ocurred to me it was to do with his schooling...........

SweetyDarling · 11/06/2007 22:14

Dh went to B School, but eats tediously slowly.
Tidyish, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Likes to have someone to talk to in the shower though - I think that's his only throw-back.
