DELIGHTED!!!!!

She is (was?!) Selectively Mute and didn't speak at all to classmates or teachers for 2 years of nursery and the first half of P1 (she is almost 6)

She started talking in January and has come on amazingly. She speaks to just about everybody now - my little star

That's fantastic news. There's a selective mute Yr1 child in DD's class and he worries me (and his parents, and the teacher). He even once stopped chatting in swimming pool to his dad because i turned up with a classmate (DD).

Very, very relieved indeed. Most children do grow out of it, but it doesn't feel like they will at the time IYSWIM.

At her worst dd would only talk to four people: me, ds, and 2 very close friends (1 was in her class, but she didn't talk to her in school) She didn't even talk to dh for a while after he had come back from working away.
