Every year I have watched with interest and excitement as all of these types of threads have progressed to offers.

Finally in the same boat. The Christmas prep is wearing...And couldn't find anyone to share the experience with.... hence this attempt to start one....

Anyone else want to join? If I have missed a school... please feel free to still join in and add your school of interest.

Currently burning the night oil trying to find more comprehension material... anyone have any online suggestions?

Thanks for those dates that's really help - good investigative research skills!;)

We have applied for a music scholarship - if it's down for next Wed I'm hoping we get a call soon ...unless he's mucked up really badly 😬😬ConfusedConfused

Seeline · 11/01/2017 09:06

Soupy - I thought it was this year. Dare I ask?

Well done to those getting interviews. The rest of you hold in there - there is still plenty of time.

Seeline · 11/01/2017 09:08

winmbles Ts diary has music scholarship assessments down for 16-18/1 inclusive, not just Wednesday.

SoupDragon · 11/01/2017 09:12

Seeline : oh yes. :)

woodlysmum · 11/01/2017 09:21

Does anyone know how many applications T generally get for each non Academic scholarship?

Seeline · 11/01/2017 09:43

Soup - excellent, so the tradition continuesGrin We did the same with DD when the results came out - pointless sitting more exams.

Wimbles101 · 11/01/2017 09:50

Thanks Seeline.
Think that's Monday?
Oh well - the wait goes on...
KCS on Saturday - was hoping for some news from T before we sat the exam....

MrsPatmore · 11/01/2017 11:08

The waiting is horrible. I'm wavering between thinking ds has done ok and then remember that he said he'd missed a couple of questions! Almost don't want to hear the feedback! Ds also stopped tutoring once the grammar school tests were over so we've been doing the comp and English practise ourselves and now beginning to think ds was unprepared. The only comfort is that hopefully whatever school he gets into, with the practise he's had, will be the right level.

Glad to hear some interview dates are coming through and best of luck.

Missmillsie · 11/01/2017 13:07

Mrspatmore,

I'm exactly the same at the moment. DS only had tutoring for a few months prior to the 11+ tests. Then everything else was at home. Hardly done any over the Xmas hols too. He passed the Kent test but missed out on the Bexley. Not sure where your DS sat?

I agree in that if this doesn't turn out for us then the studying he has done thus far has been great for him.

Xx

So pleased to find this thread. My DS sat W, T and City 10+last week. Very little feedback from any but came out smiling (which could be great or could mean he has missed the point!). Got a call to interview from W on Saturday lunchtime so wait for T is unbearable. Feeling completely sick and powerless. Also applied for sport scholarship so I guess will have to call on Friday if nothing heard, or is that just 10+? Has anyone from 10+received the call from T yet, please?

Capucine88 · 11/01/2017 13:24

Sorry, I meant is the offer to call on Friday after 1pm only open to 11+ sports applicants?

sbmum2017 · 11/01/2017 13:29

Hi Capucine88,
I am also on the same boat . DS sat for W and T for 10+. . Quick call from W for an interview this week . Yet to hear anything from T and my DS is also due to take a sports scholarship assessment if he has done well enough on his written test . The sports assessment is next Tuesday for 10+ and this wait is a real nervous time . I would prefer either a no or a yes straight forward at this time so that I can move on . This constant hope that something positive might happen and then as the days passing- no news - is the real killer for me !!

Wimbles101 · 11/01/2017 13:35

Looks like we're all in the same boat - think so far only one 11plus parent has hear on this thread ....

Don't know why I thought I would have heard by today

MrsPatmore · 11/01/2017 13:50

Missmilsie you must be near us! Ds also sat Kent and Bexley and did well, but the prep for English is so different to those tests. We feel very lucky to have a guaranteed grammar school place but still won't know for sure about ds 1st choice state school until 1st March (a super selective one with, what seemed like thousands, of applicants)! Did your child sit for Dulwich too?

Capucine88 · 11/01/2017 13:56

SBMUM2017 I feel your pain and Wimbles101 it is good to know others in the same boat. The wait is horrific! Dad sat for 11+ last year and I don't remember it being nearly so stressful. It is definitely he not knowing that is the worst. Here's hoping for a call from T later today....

Capucine88 · 11/01/2017 14:02

That should have been DD, clearly....

mamanm · 11/01/2017 14:07

We had a T. call today - interview next week ! Happy but moving to the next stage of worry - the interview! Good luck to all the waiting - not long to wait now - things started moving. We are 10+.

MrsPatmore · 11/01/2017 14:08

Think my English needs a boost! Apostrophe in the wrong place in last post!

SoupDragon · 11/01/2017 14:10

Dad sat for 11+ last year and I don't remember it being nearly so stressful

Do you think that's because the girls schools are able to announce places whenever they like so there is perhaps more incentive to get through the prices quickly? The boys are all signed up to the agreement that places are offered on X date so they are all working towards the same set time. Exam to offer for DD was under 4 weeks.

Capucine88 · 11/01/2017 14:28

Congratulations mamanm! That is fantastic and what a relief! Good luck with the interview stage and here's hoping for an offer!

SoupDragon, that is a great turn-around, you must have been relieved! The turn around time certainly helps, also there are a greater number of girls schools so I guess more competition to attract girls earlier to try and stop them sitting the other exams. We were offered DD's CHS place in the interview last year without DD even having finished her group interview and the Head at DD's prep just assumed we would take it and not sit DD for the January exams at other schools. GDST results are all out before Christmas which, if lucky enough to get an offer, does take the January pressure off. Wish the boys were the same but no such luck! After DD started at secondary, I felt very pragmatic and able to say that she ended up in the right place for her in the end and the stress had all been a bit of a storm in a teacup....not so pragmatic today, will be reaching for a glass of wine as soon as it would be decent to do so!

sbmum2017 · 11/01/2017 15:03

Congrats Mamanm . All the best for the interview .

woodlysmum · 11/01/2017 15:24

Well done to you DS Mamans!
Did you apply for a non Academic scholarship too?

Missmillsie · 11/01/2017 16:22

Fab news mamnan! Well done to you and your DS 😘 X

Wimbles101 · 11/01/2017 16:29

Great news of a phone call!

I'm starting to get very frustrated as I need to know whether are getting assessed next week for music scholarship or not - not only am I putting all plans on hold but DS will want to practice beforehand...tempted to at least email if not phone tomorrow ....

mamanm · 11/01/2017 17:18

Thanks so much to all for kind messages! Hope the good news of interviews will reach everyone soon. We were lucky to get a call this time around as had to wait for news from T. much longer with our older DS when he did his exams. woodlysmum - we applied for sports as well
