Every year I have watched with interest and excitement as all of these types of threads have progressed to offers.

Finally in the same boat. The Christmas prep is wearing...And couldn't find anyone to share the experience with.... hence this attempt to start one....

Anyone else want to join? If I have missed a school... please feel free to still join in and add your school of interest.

Currently burning the night oil trying to find more comprehension material... anyone have any online suggestions?

Hi all, also waiting nervously for the call from T. Stopped asking my son about tests questions as he is getting irritated about it now + I also don't want to know if smth was answered wrongly - what is done is done. He was happy with his "performance" so we move on to just waiting for the next stage. Going through this ordeal for the second time as our older son is at T. so obviously this is our favourite one egg in the basket!

Good luck all, I was in this position last year and remember the stress!

Just rememebr, if things dont go the way you hope, it just means it isnt the right school for your dc. You really do see that once they start at the school.

Morning all! I wonder if they ring 11+ first as they sat a day earlier? Previous 10+ and 11+ is all a bit of a distant blur, barely remember what and when...

From my hazy recollection of four years ago when we went through the process with DS1, the first phone calls came much sooner. I may of course imagine this - like childbirth, the full force of the pain is only coming back to me now...

We got called last week this time last year for 11+ I seem to remember - no am talking rubbish. First phonecall for interview was from W on the Saturday while at the C exam, so T must have been the Monday or Tuesday I think i.e today or yesterday. BUT there were people who got calls a lot later, more than a week I seem to remember, who were still offered interviews/places.

Last year we got an early call from W on a Saturday but some people heard much later, T emailed much later to say my child had an interview and they would call within 2 weeks to arrange it

That's interesting - assumed it would be either a letter or phone call...Hmm

Postman has been today. No letter. Phew.
Good luck everyone!

It is too early for No letters from T. if I recall correctly from the past few years (can't remember when W. sent them). As for the interviews, in fact, we did not get a call from T. for a good few days both times when we did 10+ (waited for over a week) and 11+ in the past. Good luck too!

I think letters are sent out from Thursday. It would be a phone call at this stage - just anxious as scholarship assessments start next week and DS will want a few days to practice

I think last year (10+) we got a letter from W inviting us for interview at a specific time, and an email from T saying we had made it through to to interview, and that we would get a phone call shortly to arrange a time.

That's useful to know about the letter sending. Thanks all.

Wahhh when will this be over? Just want to know either way now 😩

DS just told me that his teacher told him she has to write a report on him for a school.

I then of course flew a million questions at him...when? Which school? What did she say? Of course I was met with. 'I don't know' argghh haha got to laugh x

Missmillsie do they get asked for references only if they pass the exam? Or do they ask for references anyway? Not sure at all about the whole process.

Report
Wimbles101 · 10/01/2017 16:44

Isn't the school report that you send with the application the reference?

Report
Jige · 10/01/2017 16:54

Hi guys, regarding the question on reference. In your application both W&T would have asked for the last school reports. W asked for the last 3, T asked just for the last/recent one. Were doing the 10+ so the last full report we gave was Y4 for T.

Both schools as part of the application process will ask for a written reference from your school. DS's teacher confirmed she got a request from W just a couple of weeks before Xmas hols. but nothing at that point from T.

So I rang T just before Xmas and admissions said that they will deal with that part and I have done everything that I had to and cut it very short. Would be interesting to know if anyone can confirm if their teacher/school has had a reference/character request?

Yes, my DS's teacher asked childminder about other interests my DS has -last Friday, the day before he sat the T exam. He mentioned that he had to complete a reference for T. I read in the app form that the school will write to the headteacher requesting a reference, in addition to the school report which we submitted with our application.

Report
Missmillsie · 10/01/2017 17:38

Yes I sent in my DS's last school report to T, it says on the school website that a reference from child's school will be requested. Tbh I think it's literally a formality and they have asked for references from all boys who say the test. I'm just getting excited haha x

Report
Wimbles101 · 10/01/2017 17:58

I think there right - we had to fill in a form that DS' school sent us asking about outside interests - although that may have been for KCS as it wasn't sent to all the boys who say the T exam - either way I don't think it indicates anything - as long as your DS has a decent track record at school it shouldn't be an issue I would have thought?

Another day comes to an end- no letter, no email and def no phone calls - let's see what tomorrow brings....😳😳
