Every year I have watched with interest and excitement as all of these types of threads have progressed to offers.

Finally in the same boat. The Christmas prep is wearing...And couldn't find anyone to share the experience with.... hence this attempt to start one....

Anyone else want to join? If I have missed a school... please feel free to still join in and add your school of interest.

Currently burning the night oil trying to find more comprehension material... anyone have any online suggestions?

Thick A4 envelope definitely means offer, as there's all sorts of bumf included (and hard copy documents that need actual signatures).

Smaller/thin envelopes can mean either wait list or no thanks (no bumf required, though wait list might include a second sheet for you to fill in if you want to be removed from the list because you are accepting an offer elsewhere).

I've read on MN that there is one school which does all responses by single sheet letter, but a) I can't remember which it is, and b) it's not common.

Hi everyone,
I am overseas mom and have applied for Whitgift and Dulwich Full boarding places for 13+
Just received a Waiting List email from W. Are Full boarding places highly oversubscribed?
Now I am very nervous for Dulwich result next week.

sbmum2017 · 10/02/2017 09:23

After 3 sleepless nights and umpteenth uneasy moments - here is finally D Day . I
Have never been so nervous in
My entire life even when I used to wait for my results .. DS is cool ... he has never brought up this topic . DH is not bothered or atleast trying to put up a brave face in front of me and I am tearing my hair apart thinking what if it's not the way we wanted it !!
All the best moms, dads and the kids !

woodlysmum · 10/02/2017 09:30

Good luck all.
Very nervous here especially as after a couple of weeks of coming before 11, Mr Postie has decided to come at late o'clock this week.
Pretty convinced that it won't be the result we need and will be back here again next year but with more at stake as it will be 11+

Seeline · 10/02/2017 09:31

Good luck everyone!

Jige · 10/02/2017 09:44

Good luck to everyone, fingers crossed! x 😬

ChocolateWombat · 10/02/2017 10:15

I think Im first!
It's a yes for 11+ at Reigate Grammar for us. DS will be thrilled to find out.

Good luck everyone else

Oh and it was a thick A4 envelope with terms and conditions, one of their promotional brochure things and the acceptance form. Letter was quite nice and mentioned things he had said in interview.

Apparently I now have to pay £750 deposit, of which £250 pays for a lifetime membership of the old boys type club.....mig be a sign of the many demands for money to come!

Anyway, thrilled and some celebrations for us tonight.

mamanm · 10/02/2017 10:22

Well done, ChocolateWombat! great news! is that the school you wanted and will be accepting? We are still waiting for the postman.... Good luck to everyone waiting for letters today!

MrsPatmore · 10/02/2017 10:25

Many congratulations Chocolate to you and your ds!

sbmum2017 · 10/02/2017 10:29

Congrats @ChocolateWombat ... well done to you and Your DS!

Waiting eagerly for the post to come but the last couple of days posts are arriving after 1 pm instead of normal 11 o clock , making me wait a bit longer !!

woodlysmum · 10/02/2017 10:30

Well done to your DS ChocolateWombat! V exciting!

ChocolateWombat · 10/02/2017 10:32

Thanks everyone. I've told DH and want to shout it to the world, but know that wouldn't be tactful or kind, so it's great to be able to come on here with you lovely ladies and share the good news.

Jige · 10/02/2017 10:32

Postman has finally arrived!!!!

DS sat 10+ at Whitgift and Trinity, we have full fee offers from both of them. Can't wait to tell DS when he gets home from school!

Envelope sizes:

Trinity A4 envelope with 3 Sheets of paper and small envelope address to DS included.

Whitgift A5 envelope 3 sheets of paper of which one in addressed to DS but not included in envelope.

Decision time!

All the best to everyone else! x

Anglolux · 10/02/2017 10:35

We had our Whitgift results by email this morning around 8:30am. This was a special arrangement as DS is away filming on a movie at the moment. DS got an offer of a place, but no scholarships (amazed and shocked not to get a drama scholarship) or bursary. Will have to think long and hard about it now, as have had some very attractive offers elsewhere. DS has his heart set on Whitgift though..... :-(

Jige · 10/02/2017 10:36

Chocolatewombat congratulations to you and your DS, you must be thrilled. Like yourself want to shout out but yes it would not be right to do so. My DS gave us strict instructions that he wants to open up the letters when he gets home from school which I thought was thoughtful.

MrsPatmore · 10/02/2017 10:36

Many congratulations Jige! What a great choice and you can relax now... job done!

ChocolateWombat · 10/02/2017 10:39

Well done Jige. Great position to be in. Enjoy watching your DS open the letters.

Anglolux, congrats on the offer and sorry about the drama and bursary. I hope it all becomes clearer for you over the next few days.

sbmum2017 · 10/02/2017 10:51

Congrats @Jige ! Well done to
You and your DS!! :-)

woodlysmum · 10/02/2017 10:55

Congrats Jige and Anglolux on your DS's offers Smile

mamanm · 10/02/2017 10:58

Well done Jige & Anglolux ! It is good to be in a position of having a few offers and being able to choose the right school.... We are still waiting for our postman...

MrsPatmore · 10/02/2017 11:00

Congratulations Angloux! I suspect we will be in the same situation later today but hoping for a grammar school place too so hopefully not all will be lost! Sounds like you have some other great offers to focus on...

sbmum2017 · 10/02/2017 11:03

Congrats @ Anglolux .. atleast you have few more great offers in hand ..well done to your DS!

Jige · 10/02/2017 11:04

Thank you guys: MrsPatmore; ChocolateWombat and sbmum2017.

Anglolux, congrats on the offer, sorry about the bursary or no scholarship offer. I'm sure that your DS has done really well, but like you we were also hoping for an academic scholarship. I guess that either the pot for this year may be small or the candidates overall were very good. It does seem to be getting harder each year. x

Jige · 10/02/2017 11:07

Thanks woodlysmum and mamanm I hope the postman brings you good news, fingers crossed x

Jody867 · 10/02/2017 11:17

Just in - 13+ All rounder scholarship for academic and music, + music award. So happy day for DS, he will be pleased. Have a big decision to make now.
