A few days early I know, but most of the entrance exams will be out of the way in a fortnight or so, and I'm sure there are a number of us who are in need of Brew or Biscuit or Wineas we watch our (still very little) boys forget everything that they may have learned over the last couple of years. And there are many veterans of the process who will hopefully be around to reassure us that we will all come through this unscathed.

As Ladymuck said phone calls are in process, all we can do is be glued on to our mobiles, if going on the tube in London, find alternative route so you are always in network range!
Do they even realise this is how they make us parents go through?? Bad, really bad.
I've got to a point where I just think, just give me anything, good or bad, so we can deal with it now and move on! Angry

MrsSteptoe · 18/01/2014 11:41

This is exactly like the Wallington bloody Grammar results - came out at the end of the day, a day later than they were meant to, and their email system crashed half way through so half of us had to wait till the next day - in my case, only to have it confirmed that he'd failed anyway. Trinity is deja fricking vu.

AliceLostInWonderland · 18/01/2014 11:45

We received the phone call from T, interview next Saturday!

AliceLostInWonderland · 18/01/2014 11:48

Wanted to know if he qualifies for a scholarship, how do I enquire about that? As T don't interview parents, does this mean we request a one2one with the HM?

AliceLostInWonderland · 18/01/2014 11:50

Southwestmum - sorry about your letter from T.

Marni23 · 18/01/2014 12:01

Alice last year there was no indication that DS was being considered for a scholarship until the day of the interview. He was taken off for his interview and I was taken off by Mr Bishop for a chat during which he informed me that DS was actually in a scholarship interview and that he was pretty certain he'd be offered one (and on offer day he was).

pooziepuzzle · 18/01/2014 12:01

AliceLostInWonderland I have been told that if your DS qualifies for an academic scholarship at T the HM will find you whilst your DS interviews and take you off for a chat.

pooziepuzzle · 18/01/2014 12:02

Cross posts! There someone who had exactly that experience!

Teddingtonmum1 · 18/01/2014 12:02

I'm with you mrs S seriously they could have emailed thanks but no thanks or are they hedging their bets? what I can't understand is why they go thru all the work of assessing bursaries until they can offer a place ?? Seems a lot of manpower and then half of the applicants aren't going to even get an offer ?. I've had about 10 letters from the foundation trying to get a bursary offer sorted but as I pointed out all this could be for nada .
Am out in London today but no post before I left fingers crossed when I get back ..... Yeah right :(
My DS is with his dad today but he wants to wait if a letter comes so he can open it hahahaaha not likely will have to glue it back and act surprised or commiserate.

ladydepp · 18/01/2014 12:07

Finally received info about sports assessment at W for next week. Sounds like a long day for DS! Thankfully not much on the day after....

I really feel for all those waiting for news, hope it's soon and it's good. I love hearing the good news stories!

LadyMuck · 18/01/2014 12:10

I thought that at T it was the length of interview that gave away whether it was a scholarship interview or not? We were told an expected length of visit.

OP posts:
pooziepuzzle · 18/01/2014 12:13

Ladymuck have you heard from T today then?

LadyMuck · 18/01/2014 12:34

Yes, for a midweek interview. Very pleased for ds as he was the last child in his class without an offer or interview (though the other boys had all sat W and all had interviews). The T 11+ "no" letters all arrived on Thursday (for the others we know). We too live in the land of the afternoon-only post, so I would still expect silence from T to be a good thing rather than otherwise, especially as I think they only started 11+ interviews yesterday.

Sorry to hear your news Southwestmum.

Thanks a million Marni23 and pooziepuzzle.
Ladymuck - our interview is for half an hour (if time is anything to go by) does this mean anything?

Marni23 · 18/01/2014 12:36

LadyMuck I thought so to, until DS got one. We were told exactly the same interview length as everyone else when T called so had no idea that it was a scholarship interview until he was in there and I was told by HM

Brownsugar3879 · 18/01/2014 12:37

AlicelostInW. Congrats to Ds. Anyone who hasn't heard from T, I've just pulled out a letter which was given out after the exam and it says:

If your son has not done well enough in the examination to be called for interview, then you will be sent a letter to be posted no later than Thursday 16th Jan. if your son has applied for a sports scholarship and you have not heard from is by 1pm on Friday, then do please telephone the admissions office on Monday 20th Jan.
Those being invited in for any other non-academic scholarship assessments will be contacted by the relevant departments. Academic interviews take place up to until early Feb and those who have been successful in being invited in will be telephoned directly during the next fortnight.
Please be assured that the length of time taken to call you is no reflection of how your son has performed, but is simply due the volume of calls we have to make. otherwise, we would respectfully ask if you could resist phoning us during this period as I am sure you will appreciate the additional work this adds for the admissions dept.

LadyMuck · 18/01/2014 12:37

Oh, that's interesting Marni - thanks for that. We were told that we would meet the headmaster? But I assumed that was over coffee and biscuits in the room they put you in for small tours?

MrsSteptoe · 18/01/2014 12:41

Brilliant news for Muck Mi! Particularly if all his class had W interviews so he's got something now too.

AliceLostInWonderland · 18/01/2014 12:50

Congrats LadyMuck.
Just curious, how long is your interview? I hope you don't mind me asking.

Marni23 · 18/01/2014 12:58

Yes, I think they said something vague about the HM being around to answer questions or something, but no indication that I'd be led off to his office for a 1-1! I wondered at the time if they deliberately give no clues that a boy is being considered for a scholarship so that they remain as relaxed as possible? The interviewer didn't tell DS either-he nearly fell out of the car when I told him when we got outside!

It did seem to be different from a non-scholarship interview though. DS was asked some really tricky maths problems - more problem solving than calculation IYSWIM. His highest score in the exam had been maths apparently.

AliceLostInWonderland · 18/01/2014 13:02

Marni you are a star! Thanks. I am brushing him up on his general knowledge as well. All fingers crossed, feeling nervous though.

pooziepuzzle · 18/01/2014 13:11

Letter reviewed for sports assessment at W next week!

pooziepuzzle · 18/01/2014 13:11

Received not reviewed!!

pooziepuzzle · 18/01/2014 13:13

Congrats Ladymuck !

AliceLostInWonderland · 18/01/2014 13:14

Congrats pooziepuzzle have you had your main interview?
