Wyteleafe school and Malory Towers and Grange Hill

WaitingForGodKnows · 05/08/2006 09:59

St Custards. With Grabber, Peason and the skool dog.

tortoiseshell · 05/08/2006 10:05

malory towers definitely - a few more characters than St Clares - would have liked to have been in Alicia's class, and people like Sally aren't as wishy washy as the St Clares alternatives.

riab · 21/08/2006 12:54

Chalet School, probably in the early years with Jo.

MrsJohnCusack · 21/08/2006 12:56

I'm with DarrellRivers - I'd go to Trebizon. Except I prob wouldn't be glam enough, I'd be Sally Elphinstone, the token fat girl

rustybear · 21/08/2006 16:51

Antonia forest fans - does anybody know was Run away home the last or did she ever write another? - I want to know what happened about Esther and Daks!

fireflighty · 21/08/2006 22:00

Hogwarts or perhaps Kingscote for me I think...

Antonia Forest info here:

poopy · 21/08/2006 22:02

Malory Towers ... and I would have taught that Alicia a lesson or two

hunkermunker · 21/08/2006 22:03

I remember Trebizon! I'd have gone there, definitely.

rustybear · 21/08/2006 22:12

Thanks fireflighty

nappyaddict · 21/08/2006 23:34

hogwarts!

nappyaddict · 21/08/2006 23:35

or st campions

nightynight · 22/08/2006 00:16

definitely hogwarts.
I am just reading HP to my children at the moment.

Alibaldi · 22/08/2006 00:17

Chalet School - I loved it.

Spirited · 06/09/2006 21:55

Hogwarts - dangerous but magically wonderful - doors that weren't doors at all, solid walls just pretending.

But before that one was around, what about the school that the naughtiest girl went to - I forget what it was called but the students had a hand in running it. Wasn't it just awful when Elizabeth finally finds something that she likes about school - music but it gets taken away from her as a punishment.I suppose it worked though.

I read all the Malory Towers and St. Claire's but not all of the Chalet School as our library had a rather sparse collection dotted throughout the very long series.

Still has to be Hogwarts for me, but I did like those other ones when I was younger.

Posey · 06/09/2006 22:00

Malory Towers for me too. Dd has just finished reading them and I asked her if she'd have liked to go there. You'd have thought I'd asked her to lick the kitchen floor clean, the look of horror! She thought they were all too posh!

Olihan · 06/09/2006 22:01

Would be a toss up between Chalet School and Trebizon. I loved both of those.

Cassoulet · 06/09/2006 22:29

Summerhill or Hogwarts, with Tony Blair - then I could say "yeah, he was a w*er at school too".

ediemay · 06/09/2006 22:33

St Trinians or possibly Miss Jean Brodie's school

Spatz · 06/09/2006 22:35

Chalet School deffo - also didn't know anyone else read them. I loved the idea of having different languages on different days.

geekgrrl · 06/09/2006 22:38

malory towers.

I then went to boarding school for the 6th form still driven by this longing for a Malory Towers experience and was sorely disappointed. Enid Blyton never mentioned the toryboys and girls and the general tw*ttishness of the kind of people who went to that boarding school.
what a let-down it was. Maybe I should sue.

edam · 06/09/2006 22:45

St Trinians or Hogwarts. Loved Malory Towers and St Clare's as a kid, but couldn't stand that hearty, must-be-good-at-games stuff. 'Oh, isn't lacrosse super'. And the bullying (IIRC described as 'rubbing the corners off').

emsiewill · 06/09/2006 23:06

Yes, Trebizon or the Chalet School.

This has inspired me to go and find some Chalet School books for dd1, I know she will love them...

harpsichordcarrier · 06/09/2006 23:08

oh christ none of them
lacrosse
outdoor swimming
prep after tea
oh! the horror

Saturn74 · 06/09/2006 23:33

I'd have loved to go to school with 'The Worst Witch'.
