Calling all teachers and anyone else really, is wine an acceptable present for teachers?

Over the years I have done flowers, chocolates, candles etc and was wondering if wine (nice wine) is acceptable really?
As my dd is in a unit I have lots to buy for!

Defintely a big yes!

Ask one of the other teachers re. red or white - they are bound to know (at least they will if there have been any good social events recently!)

Some people (including me)have a sensitivity to red wine as it can be a migraine trigger - if I was lucky enough to be given wine, and it was red, then dh gratefully enjoyed it instead of me.

(though if they don't they'll do the staffroom shuffle and swap it for chocs with someone else)

I am a teaching assistant & I will say a big fat YES! Wine is very much appreciated & beats chocolates or flowers any day!!

Our nanny who is a teacher said "yes" to wine - even if you don't drink it yourself, you can offer it to your hosts when you next go to dinner or a party. The other present she mentioned was really good quality olive oil!

of course

though only generally with wine if they're non-drinkers, or swap milk chocs for dark etc (esp when one parent has given similar boxes to more than one teacher and they each prefer the other)
not for personal personal gifts!

The majority of teaching staff at the school I work at, drink wine & very much appreciate wine. We need wine to de-stress at the end of the day!!

I was a teacher and wine was my favourite present so promised I would alsways give the dss' teachers wine. Both boys had the same teacher 2 years ina row and I gave her a bottle of wine every Christmas and end of summer. After giving the final bottle I learnt she was a tea -totaller .

I'd still give it to others though.

I think it's because I am such a wine lover tbh that I thought of buying it for the teachers!

I would second everyone saying yes to wine!
Just a thought for those saying they have lots to buy for how about those little bottles you can buy. I got one of those (Cava) for christmas from a child and it was lovely enough for a big glass all to myself!
ATM though I am 7 weeks PG so no wine for me!

but not Lambrusco or that Portuguese rose in a round bottle.

Anything over £3 would make most teachers happy!
