Those of you in favour of grammar schools, come and tell me what to say to my Ds...

He woke up crying in the night because the reality had just hit him that he won't be going to school with his close friends in September because he failed the 11+ in September. "I can't be very bright, can I mum, or I would have passed" " no, it was just one of those things-you're going to a good school, you'll be fine" "I know- but if i was clever I'd be going to school with X and Y" "You are clever- look at your SATs-you'll be in the top set at the high school because of those" " it's not SATS that are important, though, it's the 11+"

Do you want to have more kids feeling like that? Then campaign for more grammar schools,

I think Xenia should just pay for seekers DS education. That would be noble and fair and just a small change for Xenia.

Seeker on the other hand can treat it as a research project to give her an insiders view or the enemy's camp.

And they will all live in harmony.. or will they?

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 22/08/2012 23:20

No they won't. We all care for our own and don't give a shit for anyone else, and habs and NLCS are the best and only schools, and this is what separates us from communists. Or something.

scottishmummy · 22/08/2012 23:21

lol,Xenia has big mn fanclub
the name checks,islands,gushing
she said this, she said that - you tweenie fans are so touching

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 22/08/2012 23:23

Lol jks lolz, yes.

seeker · 22/08/2012 23:34

Amazing what happens while you are watching tv and de fleaing the cats.

Those who have been amusing themselves over my daughter's pony, I suggest you look up "working livery".

I have joined many threads on this subject- particularly when I see ignorance being spouted, but I have only started one or two.

I am, if not delighted, comfortable with my son's school. It is a school which many on here would not touch with a bargepole, but I have confidence in it and in my son- he will be fine. The real victims of the system are those who do not have the support and resources he does. This is not about him. It is about an unfair and divisive system which people blindly support while knowing very little about because they have bought the myth.

Or seeker could opt out of society altogether, find Xenia's island and moor her houseboat there, just to annoy her.

scottishmummy · 22/08/2012 23:42

given you oppose gs,you've got what you ideologically can accept.a ns state school
and loads ammunition to harrumph endlessly about iniquity of gs and your sons callous dating aside by system he couldnt attain
you've got loads mileage and you can ignore your own dissonance

scottishmummy · 22/08/2012 23:44

lol a fan
name checking xenia,the boat,
fantasy island it's the plane boss

seeker · 22/08/2012 23:44

Scottishmummy- that last post made no sense. Do you have a problem with your keyboard?

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 22/08/2012 23:47

the problem is your inconsistencies
but then others have beaten me to making that point
funny all the same

seeker · 22/08/2012 23:47

That's the last two posts didn't make sense.....

I could moor up on the island and sing the Internationale to her every morning. I know all the verses.....

OP posts:
seeker · 22/08/2012 23:49

three that make no sense. Hang on, I'll drink some more wine and see if that helps......

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 22/08/2012 23:49

are you another tweenie fan of xenia
name checking the island
she gave good advice, housewives should support their families

pianomama · 22/08/2012 23:50

Now , thats a great image.
Limeric anyone?

scottishmummy · 22/08/2012 23:51

avoidance,digression,puerile quips
well known online tactics
to avoid admitting you're all over shop

seeker · 22/08/2012 23:55

Scottishmummy, if there's something you want me to say that I haven't said 50 times already, then I'll be happy to say it. You only have to ask.

rabbitstew · 22/08/2012 23:57

Oh well, given all the irreversible changes the government is making at breakneck speed to school planning, funding, control and management, not to mention curriculum and exam changes, I think grammar schools versus comprehensives are probably the least of our worries at the moment.

rabbitstew · 23/08/2012 00:01

scottishmummy likes to hide behind her semi-formed sentences, seeker, hadn't you noticed? Writing comprehensibly is for mere mortals.

seeker · 23/08/2012 00:05

I know, rabbit- it really pisses me off, but I!m trying to be polite!

InkyBinky · 23/08/2012 00:05

Seeker. I think you come across as very sensible and articulate. I haven't found anything you have said to be hypocritical and don't understand how others can have thought this. I really hope your DS has already forgotten his initial disappointment and is now looking forward to starting his new school. It will be interesting for you to compare your two DC's schools. I bet there will be good and bad points about both school. I hope it goes well for both of them Smile

{{trying to end thread on a pleasant and positive note}}

rabbitstew · 23/08/2012 00:07

Sorry, Inky, you can only do that if you are poster 1,000. Grin

InkyBinky · 23/08/2012 00:17

Ohhh, is that a challenge?

prepares to hit POST MESSAGE 28 times

graciew · 23/08/2012 00:18

That would be cheating...you'll just have to keep refreshing the numbers like we all are!

rabbitstew · 23/08/2012 00:19

Nope, sorry, pianomama, I can't think of any limericks with Xenia, houseboats and private islands in. I can only think of a very lame:
There was a young mother from Kent,
who to a grammar her daughter she sent,
but she hated the Kent Test,
she thought it the worst-est,
"the whole system," she said, "it is bent."

(Not much longer to go, now...).

pianomama · 23/08/2012 00:35

:)
Not bad rabbit
