My dd was shown a pirate copy of Madagascar in class!

She is in Y2. A few of the other parents havebeen talking, and none of us thinks that this is really on. However, we are only 4 parents out of a class of 30.None of the others think that it is/was a problem.

Dh and I thought about talking to the head, but in previous similar situations she was of absolutely no help- her response was something like I trust my teachers to make their own decisions, and won't interfere. So we felt we had no option but to tell the education authourity. However, now I'm worried that we didn't do the right thing. I suppose it's too late to do anything now, but I'm just wondering what other parents would have done.

teachers should be setting a good example. and showing pirate videos is not a good example. i think you did the right thing

Well done, and where does the money made from these copies go to ?? Organised crime.

that isn't really the point though. it's still illegal. it's bad enough in your own home, but when it's at school it isn't on!

was it a pirate or an offical US dvd?

actually must have been a pirate as its not out in the US yet

my first thought was why in the first place was she shown any dvd/video in school time (i presume?)surely she should be working?

Or am I just an old fashioned fuddy duddy!

secondly, pirate copies are usual awful quality, and kids shouldn't grow up accustomed to this rubbish - cinema will die a death.

Ok fine but i still wouldn't care if my kids had watched it.

Twiglett, my thoughts exactly. It wasn't at the end of term, just a normal friday afternoon. At our school it's a standard thing- Friday afternoon is for dvd watching. It makes me very cross.

Pirate copies are openly exchanged/sold in our playground by the parents. I can only assume the children , especially the older ones, do know. DD1 certaily does, as she asked why we never accept them.

This is why I hate it.
