Suddenly I'm getting very nervous - DS just doesn't want to think about it, which is fair enough. My 'what will be, will be' attitude has suddenly changed a little!

Riven, how embarrassed am I? I am sitting here in tears of joy for your DD! Blush

Well done to all those who got what they want/need.
To all those who didn't, don't despair .
My post here explains why I say this.

sometimes things really do work out for the best!

sayithowitis · 19/08/2010 11:47

It's a long thread. The post I referred to was on 8th August 2010.

mumoverseas · 19/08/2010 12:18

Just back from DS's school and he got 3 As and a B at AS which he is happy with. Hopefully the predicted grades he will get will be enough for him to apply to Cambridge in October.

Good luck to everyone going through clearing and still waiting for results

All sorted here. Definite offer from Chester, and he's phoned to set the wheels in motion about accomm. Very pleased all round.

Sitting down to wait for another child's GCSE results next Tues now!

MmeRedWhiteandBlueberry · 19/08/2010 14:40

My DS has met his UCAS offer for his first choice place, but it us not appeared on UCAS Track yet. His insurance offer was made unconditional at the weekend.

It is very nerve wracking but I have to keep reminding myself that the conditional offer is a binding contract, so DS must be in.

We've been out for a celebratory lunch, and just ordered him a laptop which he will need for his course.

Roll on Tuesday and GCSEs.

larry5 · 19/08/2010 14:46

We are also still waiting for confirmation from DDs first chice. We found out by ringing uni and holding on for 30 mins that a decision should be put on UCAS today. Dd didnt quite get her grades but is in the first batch to be considered.

JGBMum · 19/08/2010 17:08

Congratulations to all those who got the grade needed for Uni and Good luck to those who are in the Clearing system - such a shame when everyone worked so hard.

MOS - well done to your DS!!!

DS here got 4/5 of his AS results - we are on holiday and school reception didnt note the FM results before posting out the results letter!

Still so far he has 2xA, and 2xB, but no idea on the marks. We'll just have to be patient till we get home on Sunday. DS very happy as the As are in his main subjects iyswim Smile

mumoverseas · 19/08/2010 17:16

JGB THERE you are! Have been wondering where you were and how DS got on.
Well done to him and you for your patience Grin

JGBMum · 19/08/2010 18:48

MOS spent the day in Black Gang Chine on . IOW. Tried to use internet on my phone but was hopeless!! Internet connection here is pretty rubbish too - roll on Sunday and we go home, yay.

JGBMum · 19/08/2010 18:50

Any news from the op? Hope all is ok.

Drayford · 20/08/2010 00:46

Congrats to everyones DC who got their grades/places (Riven, you must be so proud!), but keep your pecker up to those who didn't. Some of DC's friends failed to get their places and most have elected to re-sit and one has already secured a place by phoning her original choice uni and begging!

Job done here! DD didn't make the required grades but has been accepted by both choices at City and Goldsmiths for BMus (probably on the basis of her auditions). She just needs to decide which to take now.

Should we start another thread for those of us now anxious about GCSEs????

And then one for those of us anxious about freshers week?????

Lilymaid · 20/08/2010 09:39

The empty nesters thread has been bumped up in the Further Education topic - lots of information there for parents of freshers (including my bottle of vodka and a chocolate cake tip!)

brimfull · 20/08/2010 09:43

dd got into sheffield!
she is elated
went out on the piss last night

ajandjjmum · 03/09/2010 12:40

JGB
Lost touch with this thread - sorry!
Yes, you're right, DS didn't apply to Oxbridge, but got offers from Durham, Warwick, UCL, Sheffield and York.
He firmed Durham (AAA) and went for Sheffield as his insurance (ABB) - too scared to put UCL as insurance (AAB) after dreadful January results.
Got A*, A, B so Sheffield immediately went to unconditional, whilst Durham had him in a 'near miss' pile. After 5 days they finally said they wouldn't be able to offer him a place, so he is very happily going to Sheffield.
And now we start with DD..............
Good luck everyone, as our babies move on to uni! Smile
