I sold my old phone at the weekend. I was honest in my description and put that it was locked to orange.
The day I posted it the buyer left me feedback saying he had received it
I got an email off him yesterday saying that he had tried using it and it said 'phone restricted' I know it did not say that the morning I sent it.

He has sent me an email this mornnig saying he has tried a few sim cards and it is saying the same so he has returned the phone to me, giving me a RM tracking number.

I know for a fact that it worked, it sounds like he has tried to unlock it and it hasnt worked. I also did a search on his name and he has bought a few of these phones within a few days of each other.

ahh then yes probably based on feedback alone id say so

Do you think it is bad that I have emailed the sellers of the other phones asking if they have had any problems with the seller? He has been left no feedback or these phones as of yet.

No you have a right to know and as bad feedback for buyers has been done away with there isnt any other way.

Problem with Ebay is that buyers cannot be left negative feeback anymore.

I hope the phones ok when you recieve it back. If it is have you looked at selling it http://www.envirofone.com/?source=30006&siteid=1300 here I sell all my old phones with them, its easy and they are very reliable .. unlike ebay buyers!

PoppyCoc · 24/10/2008 12:03

I mean; here

ToThrottleABlackBird · 24/10/2008 12:06

Poppy, I did think of that but I got double the amount they offered me which was needed for a bill

It is so frustrating because I know the phone was fine.

It sounds to me like he is confused - and it may be genuine confusion.

If he left you feedback saying he's received it on the day the you actually posted it, sounds like he's getting you (or your phone) confused with someone else's.

E-mail him and explain this - make sure he is clear which phone was bought from which seller.

It may simply be that the phone he received before yours doesn't work but he thinks it was you that he got it from...may just need it pointing out.

I have just emailed him asking if this could be the case. I do hope so but then I am left either still refunding or paying extra to return it back to him.

Ill bet you anything he returns a broken phone to you. He has probably bought a broken one at a cheap price, swapped it for yours, and is sending you the broken one to get his money back. its a well-known ebay scam. Did you note the IMEI number before you sent it to him?

ToThrottleABlackBird · 24/10/2008 13:28

Yes I wrote it down somewhere thankfully.

When you recieve it, make sure the numbers match! if not, contact paypal.

sarah573 · 24/10/2008 15:04

You don't have to refund him if he has not won a not as desribed claim with paypal. He cannot just send something back without discussing it with you first and expect you to refund it when it arrives back. I think he would be unlikely to win a not as described claim if he has left feedback to say he is happy. It sounds like he has done something with the phone - If you're sure it was OK when you sent it I wound't refund him.

Oh dear, this is getting worse. I have had an email from another seller and he has also said the exact same thing to her!
