Buyer has no paypal account, wants to pay by credit card, has zero feedback...but it was a PP only auction

SCREAMS!

I've just sold my Mountain Buggy Double on ebay, a PP only auction.

I thought I'd blocked bids from less than 10 feedback, but the winner is a zero feedback ebayer.

Now he says he has no PP account, can he pay by credit card, can we talk on the phone, he's new to all this etc.

Sigh. What to do? It's £346.00, I don't want to get in to cash on collection etc. Can I insist he get a PP account (how long does it take). Or can I not go through with it and give a 2nd chance offer to the 2nd highest bidder.

Please can you help me!

don't chance it that is such alot of money and he sounds like a scammer. how do you accept a credit card payment anyway?

Report to ebay, and either he send you a cheque which you fully clear before parting with the buggy or tell him he cannot have it as it states clearly paypal and go for the 2nd chance offer,

You can't insist he gets a pp account, but I think you are within your rights to pull out as you stated payment was paypal only and he can't pay.

It sounds a bit dodgy. If he has a credit card then surely he can set up a paypal account.

Say no to him altogether do you mean? 2 days doesn't seem too long in terms of set up. If he's genuine then that shouldn't be an issue should it?

I feel a bit suspicious but equally we all have to start somewhere on ebay.

I wouldn't accept it. You specified PP I'd contact your 2nd highest bidder.

What he'll be asking for next is your bank account details so he can pay into it. Avoid

I think you can invoice him via paypal and he can pay without needing an account

Oh, more messages. I 'think' I should just pull out, and go with the 2nd chance offer. If he messes me around with getting a cheque to me etc then I stand to lose the 2nd chance person to another buggy. Plus I have it clean and ready to go and it's taking up space in my living room!

When its straightforward paypal to paypal i think there is some security, but not sure if he is just using a credit card. He is able to get it back again isnt he once the item has been sent?

paypal easy to set up. ask for it to be cash-funded too otherwise won't you end up above the limit and pay fees?

i am really concerned as my friend had her paypal account cleared out through a scam, not only that but it went through to her bacnk account (luckly only ebay funds in it) and cleared that too.

And gues what, paypal didnt want to know because he hadnt reported it quickly enough. As she only looked at paypal and that bacnk account when buying or selling something and not for weeks in bwtween. £500 quid gone, and she wont touch ebay with a barge pole.

I still do it but only very occasionally now.

tbh you are safer senidn g him your sort code, account number, bank name and your name.

afterall that all appears on any cheques you send out.

just send hi ma paypal invoice and see if he can pay with his card.

or ask him to send you a cheque or postal order. once its cleared then you send it out.

its a PITA i know, but better than paying paypal fees on that amount.

oh no...i just sent him a paypal invoice. Crap, am feeling sick now....h.e.l.p...

There is about £5 in my paypal account but a considerable amount in my current account.

Damn. I'm so stupid.

don't worry. These things are rare, but worth knowing about. You have x amount of days to report if money goes missing and paypal insures you up to so much.

This happened to my friend because she only used the account for her ebay bits every now and then, collecting up a little holiday fund . Once she noticed it missing it had gone passed the amount of days.

I am getting more and more fed up with ebay, what with the feedback no longer able to leave a neg, and then I learned that the buyer can get their money back again once they have paid through paypal, awful.

he cannot get any details paying from a cc to your paypal.

the only way your account gets highjacked is if you give him your sign in details inc passwords, or your pc gets high jacked.
