Is this buyer trying it on...what should I do??

So i sold my pushchair on ebay, in my listing i mentioned that there were some scratches to the frame, which would be normal on a used pushchair especially as this pushchair frame had a highly polished chrome finish it happens each time buggy is folded etc. I was v.clear in my listing. The buyer kept wanting me to do a buy it now inclusive of postage which in the end I did. So she got the pushchair with free courier she complained 48hrs after receipt saying it was v.dirty and in bad condition. I replied saying i was amazed as the whole pushchair had been stripped down, all fabrics washed and frame cleaned. it was in no way dirty and the marks to frame were mentioned on listing. She is now threatening neg feedback if i don't give her part refund. I don't want her to return buggy really as can't be bothered to sell again, and haven't the room for it back here. What do i do. Sorry for v.long post!!!

I would refuse her a refund and risk her leaving neg feedback.

Tell them to look again at the listing and leave the ball in their court.

This is what is happening now that sellers can no longer leave neg feedback. She is blackmailing you, counting on you not wanting to have a neg. I bet loads of people are doing this.

I would call her bluff and get her to return it to you (I don't think she will)

I agree with CarGirl, she is trying it on and wants it cheap. Call her bluff and ask her to return it and you will give a refund.I really don't think she would want the hassle and would be very surprised if you got it back.

I once had someone not happy with something I sold, I said that of COURSE she must return it if not happy and I would refund. I even said I'd refund her postage...

Surprise she said oh its ok I overreacted I will keep it after all.

Some people just try it on to get it cheap.

If anyone leaves you bad feedback for no reason though you can report it to ebay. So that yes you may get a neg, but report it to ebay and if she does the same thing to others (think 3 strikes and your out) she will be banned from ebay and all feedback removed that she has left.

This no neg by sellers is really putting people off selling. Including me.

don't forget that you can still reply to the feedback she leaves you, even if you can't leave her neg.

Plus the listing is there for all to see, so they can check it themselves.

tbh, I don't really check feedback that thoroughly as people do this all the time. I think you have to take it with a pinch of salt, (the feedback)

buyer is being a pillok, and trying it on, imo

If she leaves neg feedback you can comment that you offered her a complete refund and she declined. I haven't sold anything recently and I am very put off by the fact that the seller can't leave feedback.

Thanks...i emailed her referring her back to my listing which clearly referred to scratches etc. I expl that I had already lowered the price to include free p&p I explained again that it is a USED pushchair so would show some signs of wear and tear (pushchair is over £150 in m&p plus £50 footmuff) she got for £60 delivered so not a bad bargain, it is only some v.minor scratches. ggggrrr seriously going off ebay though. Awaiting her 'neg feedback' that she has threatened me with.

I'd second CarGirl. Have her return it to you and give her a refund.

This is exactly what was predicted when they introduced the 'seller can't leave negFB' thing.

I'd do as others say - tell her to return it to you in original packing and then you can inspect it for the condition and also for the serial number. Once you have checked it, and if it isn't in the condition you described you will refund her.

She won't return it .....she is just trying it on.

oh also forgot to say she purchased another identical pushchair the day she asked to buy mine from another auction site apparently for £15 cheaper...sounds suspicious but if she did she could well try and send this one back to me couldn't she??! I wish I'd never sold it now on ebay!!

To be fair, she might want two - I bought two buggys for DS - one for my house and one for my mums so I don't have to transport it.

Seems E-bay is a walking nightmare for Sellers at the moment....

then tell her you always mark your items so that if people return items you can check that they are returning the correct one - (she doesn't know you haven't actually done this) ;)

I know you don't want it back but I really think you are safe in offering a refund-I would be most surprised if she sent it back.She is trying it on-don't let her get away with it!

thanks for your help everyone, im in work today and can't get onto ebay so will check this evening if anymore messages from the buyer,and like you say will offer refund if she returns to me. would she have to pay for postage? I've already paid for one lot!!!

she returns it and pays for postage - you check item - if item is as described then refund the price she paid ie cost +p&P - if not as described (which doesn't apply here) then you are under no obligation to pay her return postage.

its hard though to quantify the scratches and the wheels she is saying are 'worn out' this isn't the case, they are smooth wheels so no tread would be on them anyway. It would be my word against hers I suppose. I know I could sell again, but can't be bothered, its just so irritating as its a lovely pushchair, which she got for a good price. I would put link on but can't get into ebay atm as at work!!

i got burned by a buyer before the days of 'can't leave neg feedback'.

that's what put me off even then.

tbh i now stick to gumtree or boot sales because then they see what they're getting then and there, you get cash and then they and your item GO AWAY.

i'm not running a shop and even shops are allowed not to do refunds or stand for people haggling online or trying to pull a fast one, the proprietor can just tell them to leave.

if i'm selling it's to get rid of the item not create more hassle for myself.

Thanks for asking cargirl..well I emailed her along the lines of 'well if you check my listing it is v.thorough, and clearly makes reference to the scratches on frame. it is a used pushchair which retails at £200 new, so obviously at £60 you are going to be expecting some wear and tear. Im amazed you say it is dirty as all the fabrics were machine washed before the sale and immaculate. If however you still wish to neg feedback me then I think this is totally inappropriate. You already got the pushchair at a reduced price.

Heard no more, and have received no feedback...so far!!
