Vinted- given neg feedback from Vinted - I was away and unable to post item.

My item sold earlier this week when I was unable to access the internet or post anything. (I don't use my phone or the app for Vinted.)

I messaged the buyer when I saw the sale and I assumed I had time to post it today. Within a couple of hours of contacting the buyer- who said they wanted it- Vinted messaged it was too late and gave me neg feedback.

I've relisted it but can I do anything about the feedback?

No. If you're away you set your account to "holiday mode" so that people can't buy your stuff until you can send it.
This is your fault

Comedycook · 24/11/2023 12:58

Sorry but I think you're at fault here

ChristmasPuddingFace · 24/11/2023 13:08

I'm new to Vinted, so I didn't know this.

I was away on family business (ill family) not a holiday.

If you list stuff to sell then you can't just bugger off and come back when you feel like it man.

One of the most common excuses for not posting from scammers is an Ill relative. Just pay a bit more attention to it next time. It's not something you'll forget now anyroad.

ChristmasPuddingFace · 24/11/2023 13:16

Is there any need to be so nasty? I asked a question as I'm new to Vinted. And I am not a scammer.

Holiday mode isn’t just for holidays, it’s for any reason that you can’t respond to sales. I’ve used for moving house and just to take a break when there is too much going on in my life.

Sorry to hear about your ill family member. If you’ve gone away on little notice, I’m not sure that updating your Vinted status is going to be a priority in any case.

I don’t think that you can get the feedback removed but you might be able to reply to it saying ‘sorry forgot to put holiday mode on’ so future buyers can see it and may choose to ignore the low score.

gamerchick · 24/11/2023 13:18

I'm not trying today to be nasty OP. Or calling you a scammer.

ChristmasPuddingFace · 24/11/2023 13:19

The item had been for sale for ages. I'd had little interest in it.
I think the sale went through on the day when I was travelling. I've always sold on Ebay and have sold a few items on Vinted but didn't know there was a holiday mode.

Invisimamma · 24/11/2023 13:20

You need to put your account on holiday mode if you can't post. The negative feedback is deserved, I would not be happy to wait all that time for you to post something to me that I'd paid for. I always post within 1 day, sometimes 2 but never longer than that.

saraclara · 24/11/2023 13:20

I'm also relatively new to vinted. I had no idea that there was a holiday mode on there. It can't be made very clear. I still have a couple of items on there that I put up months ago, and when I was on holiday last week, I kept thinking that it'd be sods law if someone finally bought one while I was away.

Clearly I need to go searching for the info.

kneehightoacat · 24/11/2023 13:21

If you have relisted it, did you give the buyer a message and allow them to buy it again?

Once a buyer leaves feedback, the automatic vinted review is removed

DappledOliveGroves · 24/11/2023 13:25

The app makes it pretty clear that there's a holiday mode and it's simple to activate. The fact you don't use the app (why not?) or don't spend time on your phone is your problem. It makes it clear that you have to post within a certain time limit.

kneehightoacat · 24/11/2023 13:25

It's really frustrating to be the buyer in this scenario

It happened to me: offer accepted. I bought immediately after that. Then it never shipped but the seller re-listed immediately to resell the item at the original cost

Rude and time wasting

LivingDeadGirlUK · 24/11/2023 13:28

The problem is the buyers money goes from their account as soon as they hit 'buy' so you have tied up their money for a week. You are just going to have to chalk this one up to experience OP and put a note under the negative feedback saying you didn't put on holiday mode.

sparkypupp · 24/11/2023 13:28

@saraclara If you use the app it's in Profile, I don't even need to scroll on mine to see Holiday Mode but might depend on phone/screen size.

Summermeadowflowers · 24/11/2023 13:30

Vinted is a nightmare as there’s just no way at all of speaking to a human. It’s all apps and so on and when I first started using it I found the near constant emails incredibly stressful.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 24/11/2023 13:33

There is a holiday mode where you can pause your listings
I know you can't predict when someone will buy, but that's why you've got the feedback
You could message the buyer when you relist giving them another chance to buy

haribosmarties · 24/11/2023 13:40

You get automatic negative feedback if you don't send an item within 5 working days. The only way it can be changed is if the buyer takes the time to log in and change it for you.. but why would they do that?
It is written in the rules you are supposed to read. There is a holiday mode. It's on your profile. You can switch off all listing whilst away.
It's important to make sure you are deleting items you no longer want to sell or can't find too.. vinted is actually some work. You can't just decide you can't be arsed and then be surprised when you get negative feedback. Wouldn't you be cross if you ordered something and it was never sent?

softfig · 24/11/2023 13:48

I've just had a Vinted purchase refunded to me today because the seller didn't bother to post it either. They didn't even bother to message me an excuse. I'm still out of pocket because refunds aren't immediate. So now I don't have the item, and I don't have my money back yet.

Frankly it's not my problem if the seller has a family issue. I also have an ill family member and run my own business. If I choose to take someone's money, I have to deliver what they pay for.

ChocHotolate · 24/11/2023 13:50

The majority of private Vinted (and previously eBay) sellers that I have bought from have had ill relatives or car issues which delayed them sending parcels out. Must be a curse 😁

softfig · 24/11/2023 13:51

And not a cat in hells chance that you've not seen a single phone or email notification since the item sold. It's unrealistic to expect everyone to believe you had zero internet, at all, the whole time you were travelling.

It suddenly got rushed into hospital for an emergency operation!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 24/11/2023 13:55

I've never sold on Vinted, only bought, and even I know there's a holiday mode.

I think you just have to suck it up this time and do better in future.

Heatherbell1978 · 24/11/2023 14:00

I buy a lot on Vinted and this kind of thing annoys me. The app sends lots of emails reminding you to post etc (I sell lots too) so if you're not digital savvy or able to use the app for whatever reason, it's perhaps not the selling platform for you

Yep I had an issue recently where I bought a £20 bundle from someone, they immediately cancelled the sale and then I had to wait a week for my money back!
