Hi guys,

can anyone help. I ordered something from ebay to argos. Got email with code to say its ready to collect. Went to argos and they say its not here. They checked a few times. Seller has proof it has been delivered. I’m not doubting she didnt send it but trying to tell her I didn’t receieve and argos are saying they don’t have it. Asked her for a refund. Item was £30 and she said no because she has proof it was delivered. I told her I would escalate to ebay. What now? I went back to argos second time and they said the same they do not have it.

Was it definitely sent to the correct Argos store?

CC4712 · 15/07/2023 15:29

Are there 2 argos stores in the same town? Or the wrong one- like Stratford London instead of Stratford-Upon-Avon?

Coffeeeeeee · 15/07/2023 16:10

@CC4712 @Toothiepegg thank you for the replies. Correct argos. Only one near by.

If its an argos in sainsburys they might have delivered it to the customer service desk or the back door rather than the argos they're meant to

Coffeeeeeee · 15/07/2023 17:13

@1vandal2 its just an argos not argos in sainsbury

I can't see eBay doing anything if you escalate it, like you say the seller has proof it was delivered.

Reggiebo · 15/07/2023 17:17

Contact the delivery company. They should have photo. Hermes/ evrie book a whole batch of parcels at once. Not each individual one. I had this and contacted them and it was delivered the following day. It could still be in the back of the van.

nasanas · 15/07/2023 17:32

It's up to the seller to contact the delivery company, not OP.

Coffeeeeeee · 15/07/2023 17:47

I asked the seller if she can contact them because anytime I have gone there they haven’t helped me. They just keep saying they don’t have it. Its royal mail. She has tracking and tracking says it has been delivered. I checked map location and it is argos. Iv been 3 times they say they don’t have it. Seller refused to contact them.

Coffeeeeeee · 15/07/2023 17:47

I did escalate and was told offline team will get back to me within 48-72 hours.

@Coffeeeeeee did you manage to get it sorted?

Coffeeeeeee · 16/07/2023 17:54

@Toothiepegg noo. I keep getting reminder to pick it up as tomorrow is the last day and they still insist they do not have it. Ebay haven’t got back to me yet. I will wait till end of tomorrow before contacting them again. Thank you for asking. I did message seller and said was disappointed as she offered not help what so ever. No reply. Will leave feedback when I can.

Check with Royal Mail help to see where it was actually delivered. I had the same issue and it turned out the seller had hand written the label and put the wrong house number on.
Royal Mail were able to confirm it had been delivered to a different address but they couldn't tell me which one because of GDPR rules.
In my case it didn't end well, the seller refused to help, ebay refused to refund me and removed my negative feedback.

Coffeeeeeee · 16/07/2023 21:12

@Thelnebriati oh gosh that is terrible. I did check with royal mail. Delivered to the correct collection and they have map picture on delivery status too. @Toothiepegg thank you so much. I will update if I hear anything.

This is shit for you but my heart does sink when somebody buys something that I am selling and the delivery address is a shop collection point.

I think there is always the element of risk when you ask for an item to be posted to a large building with a high footfall of staff and customers. It could be lost in there or something else.

But from the sellers point of view they have met their obligations in posting the item to the requested location and their receipt confirms as such. RM are unlikely to provide them any further information on an item that is deemed to be delivered.

Soapyspuds · 17/07/2023 07:09

The only thing I can think of is asking the seller to provide their tracking details so you can see the postcode it was sent to.

Cadburyscreamegg · 17/07/2023 07:14

If you was given an FM number then it was def booked in . I work for argos. It means someone has given out the wrong parcel. The system is you book it in , that generates a fm code to you , we then put that fm code into our system to book it out with an ecp code. An fm code isn't generated unless staff have booked it in.

Coffeeeeeee · 17/07/2023 20:01

@Toothiepegg I got a refund. Ebay got back and said they investigated. They couldn’t locate the parcel and have no idea why this happened. I normally send it to that argos and its normally okay so not sure what happened this time.

OP posts:
Coffeeeeeee · 17/07/2023 20:02

@Soapyspuds I did that too. Seller was of no help

CC4712 · 17/07/2023 20:27

I'm glad you got a refund OP. How frustrating though for you. I hope you find the same item elsewhere.

Coffeeeeeee · 17/07/2023 20:33

@CC4712 aw thank you. I was more annoyed with seller not helping. I get she did her part but I never received. Thought it would drag out but got sorted quick.

I am interested to know why ebay provided the refund. If Argos was requested as the delivery address and the seller has proof of receipt then what more could they have done? Why should they be obliged to chase up the company that the buyer wants to act as an intermediary?

Maybe they refused to proviede their evidence so lost the case by default.

But if the seller provided proof of delivery to the requested destination and Ebay issued the refund that does not sit very well with me.

Great for OP though I suppose.

Ebay might have issued a refund without taking it from the seller though? Can they do that?
