I've saved this and am sending it to everyone I know, it's utter truth!

OracleInaCoracle · 12/02/2008 19:55

classic!

bran · 12/02/2008 19:56

Funny and scary - I would never buy or sell a high value item through ebay, it's worth paying a bit extra and going to a reputable shop IMO.

(The pedant in me has to ask, isn't it Pidgin English not Pigeon?)

kyala · 12/02/2008 19:57

Have read the guy's blog and this was linked!

Blardy good idea methinks!!

Desiderata · 12/02/2008 20:00

Wonderful! Thanks for bringing this to us, bint. I stopped using eBay last May, and I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole now.

As he says, I hope that the trickle of people leaving soon becomes a flood.

thepappysapgotlicked · 12/02/2008 20:03

even if you've got proof ofpostage can they claim for non delivery?

thefunkypea · 12/02/2008 20:09

I'm a small time Ebay buyer, but I'll now think twice about using it in future. Most of the sellers I've bought from have independent websites anyway. Boycott from Feb 18th sounds like a good idea.

moljam · 12/02/2008 20:16

hilarious!

JODIEhavingababy · 12/02/2008 20:24

Just found this thread, how funny, and scarily, how true. Never thought about it like that before...

sixlostmonkeys · 13/02/2008 09:23

thepappysap - yes they can still claim, you need a tracking number to prove delivery, proof of postage only proves postage not delivery.

captainmummy · 13/02/2008 11:02

That page has been removed from ebay now - since monday! I was going to send it to my sister, who makes a living selling on ebay.

DebsCee · 13/02/2008 11:17

The auction has now been removed from ebay but you can read it here and see the guys blog here

Flibbertyjibbet · 13/02/2008 11:27

I had also been getting fed up with ebay. I only sell any hardly used kids things but people even take the pxxx with those, never mind a laptop!
Are you saying that after May, sellers won't be able to leave feedback for buyers? Surely that can't be right?

BTW since a recent pisstake on ebay over a £3 item I sold, I have been bagging up items, bunging them in the loft and will go back to my annual car boot sale/nct sale method of shifting things. That way the buyer sees the item, pays for it if they want it, and then disappears out of your life for ever.

Flibbertyjibbet · 13/02/2008 11:30

Sorry I am being a bit dim, what is happening on 18th Feb to trigger a boycott?

bossybritches · 13/02/2008 11:31

Damn the itwm has been withdrawn-anyone care to elucidate?

JODIEhavingababy · 13/02/2008 11:32

I too was thinking about putting aload of Ds's nearly new stuff on e-bay, but now going to do a car boot instead. I reackon I'll get more money in one go that way anyway, and no hassle with bagging up and posting items. What a shame

DebsCee · 13/02/2008 11:33

See my previous post with links to the original auction, reproduced on another site, and links to the blog
