I sell some stuff on ebay but last week instead took 3 binbags to the charity shop. The fees are getting higher and not being able to leave neg feedback for people who mess you around is annoying.. I wont be going back.

bossybritches · 13/02/2008 11:35

oops sorry note to self read whole thread before posting!

Hilarious thanks for the links Debs!

AitchTwoOh · 13/02/2008 11:36

it's gorn... what was it?

Flibbertyjibbet · 13/02/2008 11:38

After reading this thread I just rang the local dress agency for appt to take the boy's summer clothes from last year that I was going to ebay.
I don't get much for them but hey just need to nip down at a pre arranged time, call back 6 weeks later when passing to collect money and I can opt to send unsold stuff to charity shop.
So dress agency for clothes, car boot or nct sale for toys and equipment.
Bye bye ebay.

ohhh whats a dress agency?

Flibbertyjibbet · 13/02/2008 12:01

Nemoandthefishes, look in your phone book under 'dress agency' ring them up and ask if they take childrens stuff.
Then you wash and press every thing (seasonal), take it along, what they don't think will sell they just give you back straight away. They do take a 30 or 50% cut usually but the stuff GOES if its any good, or designer/next etc. I just think that its a lot less hassle to flog a batch of clothes this way- selling kids clothes on ebay is hard unless they are bnwt or designer. And buying clothes from them is far cheaper than ebay as there is no postage! (Sorry bit of a hijack there)

By the way people, that petition and the info about the changes relates to EbayINC which is the American one. If the changes were also happening on the UK one we would all have been notified via ebay messaging in our ebay accounts.

So no need to worry about the feedback changes and increased fees for now eh? If everyone boycotts the US site for a week or leaves altogether then ebay may think twice about making the changes here.

sixlostmonkeys · 13/02/2008 12:04

the changes are happening here too. increased fees and feedback changes.

ebay inc is ebay (includes uk)

Flibbertyjibbet · 13/02/2008 12:15

So why have they not informed me of the changes? Usually the slightest thing and they send me an alert email to inform me.

I really don't think they will make changes to the terms and conditions that we sell under and expect ebay members to find out about it from mumsnet.

sixlostmonkeys · 13/02/2008 12:19

you will have received a message regarding the fee changes.
the changes to the feedback has been anounced all over pages.ebay.com/services/forum/new.html

AitchTwoOh · 13/02/2008 12:20

LOL, I've lost count of the amount of scams people have tried to pull on us, especially when DP bought his new car, we have had a million and one people do the western union trick or at least try to, and some guy try to sell us a car that we went to view, that was apparently his, but in his girlfriends name on the V5, she would allow hi to sell it but he couldnt get the V5 signed over and had no proof of her existing (not even a single letter) plus met outside a house, that was suppsoedly his GF's, but was waiting outside for us and never once ventured into the rather empty looking property.
Needless to say we didnt buy it

Flibbertyjibbet · 13/02/2008 13:21

ok[blush blush] have now read the announcements properly.
Feel even more pissed off now that ebay will give whopping great discounts on fees to power sellers and large transaction-volume sellers but people like me who just sell on our little things will be clobbered with a higher end value fee but only a 5p reduction in the listing fee.
I have a vision of ebay shortly full of new imported chinese tat being sold by power sellers while the 2nd hand 'bargain' market of individual sellers is clobbered by higher end value fees and rip off buyers.

Back to washing that stuff for the dress agency then...
