Have I been misleading on description?? need to vent anger!!!

So angry, I pride myself on being an excellent ebayer and have excellent feedback (99.1%!!) and I am so cross cos some silly cow has emailed me to tell me she is disappointed with an item I sold, said I was misleading in description.....
It was a 3 part set from mothercare, peach dress, knickers and hat with 'lottie' written on it(the hat). This is what the listing stated. She won the bid for 99p... a bargain in my opinion, dd only wore it once! And now she is saying that she 'ASSUMED' it was Humphreys corner and that I misled her cos it isn't. Have I been misleading? Surely it's her problem if she assumed that, I didn't state it on the listing. I get so cross when people do this, she's after a refund, but really, 99p, is it worth it? I posted it the next day etc, she still has a gorgeous dress etc for her dd, just cos it isn't bloody humphreys corner. I just know she's gonna leave negative feedback.I know I could just refund her 99p, but IT'S THE PRINCIPAL, I haven't done anything wrong have I???????????? [angry angry angry]

link us to the item....

misdee · 14/05/2007 20:56

you havent done anyhting wrong.

Aloha · 14/05/2007 20:56

She is being totally unreasonable. I would email her back calmly pointing out you never said it was Humphrey's Corner (whatever that is!) and that it was sodding 99p.

Hmmm, will try and link the item but not sure I know how to do that

No, if she wanted to make sure she was buying a Humphrey's Corner item she should have asked for clarification before bidding. Tell her you're sorry she's disappointed but you never said it was HC and she never asked.

Any assumptions were made on her part and you were simply describing the item no trying to mislead a bidder on purpose.

I'm a PITA ebayer who asks millions of questions

Don't refund her. If you didn't say it was Humphrey's Corner, then she's got nothing on you. Send her a well-phrased email and if you need to, threaten her with negative feedback. It's a two-way street. She's completely out of order. You need to be clear about your intentions towards her, and carry them out if she doesn't capitulate.

luckymummy74 · 14/05/2007 21:00

hmm, don't think that worked!!!
Yes, there was a photo. Dress is stunning, I can't beleive she is being so unreasonable

luckymummy74 · 14/05/2007 21:02

it's the way she ended her email with 'just wondering what you can do about this for me?'
Cheeky cow

You haven't done anything wrong. She's being extremely cheeky.

luckymummy74 · 14/05/2007 21:04

Tell her you will wave your magic wand and turn it into a Humphrey's Corner outfit...NOT

the cheeky cow...

luckymummy74 · 14/05/2007 21:08

apparently the fact I stated that the hat has 'lottie' embroidered on it(which it does) She's saying 'IT IS NOT a 3 part set, I thought becasue the hat had lottie on it that it was H corner, but it's not, it's the only item from that range'

from my point of view, the item was a gift, it all came together, it's exactly the same colour peach, and therefore in my opinion that's a 3 part set. It's not my fault she assumed it was HC.

NOT MY PROBLEM LOVE!!!

I could understand it if she'd bid up to about £8 on it, but seriously, 99p??!!

I know it sounds sad, but I have only ever had 2 neg feedbacks, both for things I feel are unreasonable. One seller charged me £2.50 to post a pair if dungarees, then posted them with a 1st class stamp (!!!!) and the item didn't get delivered to me cos it didn't have enough postage on, I had to pick it up from PO and pay extra. When I emailed her asking for a refund of the extra postage I had to pay, she had the cheek to leave ME neg feedback and say that I didn't understand how P&P works!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's just not fair!!

LIZS · 14/05/2007 21:13

So is the hat Humphrey' s Corner (is that the elephant character btw ?) but not the rest ? I suppose you ahve implied they do coordinate and she has taken that literally as all part of one set but for the sake of 99p, why care ?

luckymummy74 · 14/05/2007 21:13

if she leaves me neg feedback I will just email her this thread...and she can see how crap she has been!! Ha ha ha

bohemianbint · 14/05/2007 21:15

she's an eeejit....

luckymummy74 · 14/05/2007 21:16

LIZS, yes, I can see your point, but it was genuinely innocent if so, I didn't even know that 'lottie' was anything to do with bloody humphreys corner (yes the elephant I think). I just thought it was embroidered on as things are on kids clothes, I honestly didn't know I was implying it was part of a set.

OP posts:
hairymclary · 14/05/2007 21:17

I would reply with the following:

"This set was purchased from mothercare and given to us as a gift. As far as I am aware it is a 3 part set. I did not state that it was HUmphreys COrner, and if you had enquired I would happily have told you that it was not.
On this occasion I would be happy to offer you a refund of 99p once I have received the outfit back. I will not refund postage costs as the error was on your part"

luckymummy74 · 14/05/2007 21:18

anyway, thanks people, I feel suitably calmed down, which DH is very pleased about cos now we can watch LOST on SKY+

I now realise I am not in the wrong. Will let you know her reply to my email, where I politley stated what we have discussed.
