it was just that it didn't feel right, the one expensive item he sold the feedback is private... something feel wrong

Yes. Also he is very new. All feedback in the past couple of weeks.

There was a thread on here recently about someone selling buggies and it was a scam. They did a similar thing (sold a few small bits and pieces to build up a feedback rating) then suddenly 'sold' a whole bunch of buggies at very high prices. The buyers never received the buggies and that was that.

So you're right to be suspicious.

SenoraPostrophe · 26/03/2007 20:10

I think he's just an old seller who's changed his username to avoid the IR.

If it was a real scam he wouldn't accept personal cheques (which can be reversed although admitedly not as easily as a paypal transaction can be reversed).

so dodgy, but not that dodgy imo.

misdee · 26/03/2007 20:11

i'm going to ask if i can collect.....

MerlinsBeard · 26/03/2007 20:13

i don't take paypal and alot of feedback left by people is all they ever type....eg great ebayer a++++ is what they leave for everyone

SparklyGothKat · 26/03/2007 20:13

Spidermama that was my thread, my sister both one of those buggys That is why I am on alert I think.

SparklyGothKat · 26/03/2007 20:14

brought- not both........ pregnancy brain....

OP posts:
Spidermama · 26/03/2007 20:15

So it was Sparkly. Sorry.

I think it does look suspect. How come so many of his feedbacks during his long one month on ebay have come from people with 0 feedback or who are keeping it private?

I would think it's dodgy.

Good idea misdee. Ask if he'd accept cash on collection.

Gess · 26/03/2007 20:17

the feedback looks dodgy because although its been left under different names (most with limited feedback themselves) the words are the same, and the spelling mistakes the same in a couple of them. Would not touch with a barge pole.....

SparklyGothKat · 26/03/2007 20:18

Right ok, I did wonder. Will carry on watching the ones that are actual baby shops with lots of feedback.

clayre · 26/03/2007 20:20

i think it looks dodgy, the sellers other items are another buggy and ghd's things that go for loads, is there anything that could be done, i didn't think royal mail delivered things that big i thought it would have to be a courier service.

SparklyGothKat · 26/03/2007 20:24

I don;t know how to report him, and has he done anything wrong yet?

OP posts:
sixlostmonkeys · 26/03/2007 21:26

definitely dodgy.
the feedbacks are left by members who joined on or around the same day. he will have done all this himself to get the FB rating, but considering the fees he will have had to pay for selling an item to himself one has to wonder about his motives. A lot of effort and a lot of money just to get FB.
Loads of stuff doesn't add up, his location has changed and the P&P is stupid.
Avoid like the plague.

You can report at the end of each listing but finding a sub topic that fits is proving impossible - still, I'm going to report because ...prams for goodness sake - lets rip off new parents eh? like they need it

sixlostmonkeys · 26/03/2007 21:41

I've reported him.

I used the report this item at the bottom of a listing and chose freudulent item (I did not bid) - then in the email I stated as many suspicians as poss.

he is listing his items for 1 day - so he is going to grab the money and run before anyone reports him for not sending items

sixlostmonkeys · 26/03/2007 21:42

of course my spelling was better in the report to ebay

SparklyGothKat · 26/03/2007 21:44

ta SM, I don't know how to do that. Just seemed dodgy to me.
I will get a 3d buggy, though DH want to buy one from the shops rather than be rip off.

OP posts:
sixlostmonkeys · 26/03/2007 21:48

You have good instincts and your DH has good sense

another prob with his listings is he is using stock photos....me? suspicious of all he does?

SparklyGothKat · 26/03/2007 21:49

oh no, people have bid on both buggys...

OP posts:
sixlostmonkeys · 26/03/2007 21:56

SparklyGothKat · 26/03/2007 22:02

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 26/03/2007 22:05

OP posts:
sixlostmonkeys · 26/03/2007 22:06

SparklyGothKat · 26/03/2007 22:09
